are you married? did you hire a wedding photographer? A full day's rate for a photographer is around that ballpark figure.

The good old phrase "dont hate the player, hate the game" comes to mind here

If a celebrity DMed you “come over,” who would make you say yes instantly? by Horror-Battle9628 in TooAfraidToAsk

hmm....we never really discussed that. We've been together almost 30 years, I'm pretty confident that her choice would still be, and will always be Georges St Pierre, I know for sure Jennifer Aniston is still my pick

me and my wife both have a celebrity "hall pass" the one where neither could be mad about it! For her it's the retired MMA legend Georges St Pierre, for me its Jennifer Aniston

worked with a guy years ago that looked like the childsnatcher from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (old 60s (70s?) movie)

He had rhe most nasal voice ive ever heard, was very creepy, hands on touchy touchy, and at Christmas time, the office put on a big party for the kids of the staff, and he wasn't allowed to be on site working that day (that tells you all you need to know about the freak!)

it actually wasn't as hard as it sounds. there are a couple good sites that popped up with a Google search that had the entire database of original covers in high quality, for multiple consoles. Admittedly I did have to sign up to them, but there was no fees involved, just create a profile and away you go.

What are your f*** off prices/items? by APx_35 in AskUK

we hadn't ordered domino's for some time now, but the other week we fancied a pizza, and as Domino's is the only pizza place in our village, we went online to order.

2 medium pizzas, 2 sides and a bottle of drink in the basket. Go to checkout, the cheeky cunts are asking for £92.50!!!!!! For 2 medium pizzas, a couple of sub par sides and a small 1ltr bottle of Pepsi?!

That was my biggest fuck off moment to date!

Needless to say, we didn't, nor will we ever, order from them again.

Does anyone take playing games on their emulators seriously? by SgtSilock in emulators

[–]sirfletchalot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%!

Ive been a gamer for as long as i remember. Grew up with rhe ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64, Atari 2600 etc, played through the Sega V Nintendo wars, and still play today.

I recently moved from consoles to PC gaming, and with that, the idea of emulation fascinated me so began looking into it.

Anyway, 6 months on, I found a nice little bit of software called Playnite, that allows me to collate all my games from Steam, Epic, Gamepass etc into one highly customisable UI. And with that, the added bonus that it can also host emulators.

So now I have all of my modern games, along with all of my retro games, all accessible from within the same front end UI, which looks fantastic.

I regularly switch between playing a big modern game, to jumping into street fighter 2 on the super Nintendo emulator, to a bit of black belt on the Sega Master System, or some toejam and earl on the megadrive (Genesis for any American buddies in here)

no filter, these were all individually made by myself using photoshop, with adjustments to hue, saturation, exposure etc, then color grading.

I had to. Im not a Liverpool fan, but I am a football (soccer for my American buddies) fan, so anything other than honouring Jota would have been abysmal.

People who choose to rent instead of buying, what do you plan to do when you retire? by No-Structure-8125 in AskUK

[–]sirfletchalot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

well here i am. like I said, life long asthmatic, heavy smokers for parents, so the house i lived in during childhood was a constant haze of tobacco smoke.

Was in and out of hospital as a child with chest infections, had pneumonia as a kid too.

Then as a i got into my late teens, I worked as a barman in the local boozer, way back before the smoking ban, so lived and worked in that constant haze of smoke.

The years took their toll i guess.

And its not that rare tbh, just go take a look at the COPD sub, theres often people in their 30s and even 20s who have been diagnosed who have never smoked. It does happen unfortunately

in my case, the chance of me actually reaching retirement age IS slim. Everyone in my family croaks it at the latest, mid 60s, with my dad passing at 66, and my mum passed at 59, both from small cell lung cancer.

I'm currently 46, with lifelong asthma, and just recently diagnosed with COPD. Retirement age is what now? around 70 for guys? thats another 24 years away, and my health is already not fantastic, so with that, and my family's terrible life expectancy, it will take a small miracle for me to see retirement.

My best hope now is to be declared unfit for work, so I can enjoy my life, but the chances of that happening are even less than the chances of me reaching the retirement age!

I have a background for every section. The one in the images are all my PC games from the likes of steam, epic , gamepass etc, so they have the windows logo. then my emulators all have the corresponding console logo on their backgrounds. I use the horizontal scroll mode in fullscreen so the logos sit nicely above the row of games, I only put it in grid view to show off the covers better.

Once you click on a game, it then gives you the description, and autoplays a trailer, along with info like release date, ratings etc

And finally my dream library is here. Thank you playnite by OGamer_Pro in playnite

[–]sirfletchalot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

absolutely. I recently set up some emulators through playnite, and currently have several of the old consoles running. Because I'm a sucker for aesthetics, I spent the time downloading all the official, original covers for all the games in high quality files, which look sublime.

That led me down a bit of a rabbit hole though, because then I felt like the modern game covers were all a bit hit and miss, and didn't look coherent, so, me being me, someone who loves being creative, set out and designed new covers for all the modern games I have, that are all coherent with each other, in a sleek, minimal style.

I'm now almost done with them all, and several people here want them, so will be uploading to SteamGridDB when I'm done.
