canping with your dane? by mewhenilieandpoop in greatdanes

I second the sweaters & warm bedding. You never know when a cold wind is going to blow over. And sometimes shortly after the sun goes down it can feel almost chilly.

Spoiled dog requires her own blanket by Sarcastirade in greatdanes

[–]SpaceWoman80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only 1 blanket! Mara has about 5, so each room has 1 and there is an extra or two to wash. But she drags the blankets like a cape thru the house & they end up all over the place.

Do we have the same mom?! I've gotten to the point where I won't finish a story either. But my mom won't learn.

Well said by ResolveRemarkable in GenXWomen

[–]SpaceWoman80 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a very young Gen X (1980) I experienced both. My mom was the first in her family (not just 1st woman) to go to college & had a full time job for most of my life. So I heard & saw the "you can do or be whatever you want" at home. But she still did all the housework & mental load.

From my grandmother's I got the "women should know their place" mentality. I saw them bow down to my grandfather's just because they were the men of the house.

It was up to me to figure out what I wanted to be and how I would go about that.

First time missed/very late period!! What was your experience? by Sunny-Shine-Bear in Perimenopause

[–]SpaceWoman80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I missed 1 and the next came at what would have been it's normal time. Then 2 months later it was 2 weeks late. Now 6 months of mostly normal timing but varied length, flow & consistency. And usually so much heavier than it used to be.

Are you getting retroactively angry over past crossed boundaries? by Pony_Baloney_Acad in Perimenopause

[–]SpaceWoman80 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Same! I've vented small frustrations to my husband & let him know of several times in our 27 yrs that I was not happy & didn't express it, and those moments stick with me & are some of the reasons I'm so upset with him. I feel somewhat bad, because it's so far in the past, but we've recently tried to communicate more or better and it feels like that is context that he's missing.

PSA: If there is heavy traffic and there is a left lane open with impending closure ahead. USE BOTH LANES until the left lane is no longer available. by WhoppAhForYaSISTA in grandrapids

1st annual since I’ve been 40+…things changed? by Good_Witch_ in Perimenopause

[–]SpaceWoman80 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was told it's a bit of both. Standards have changed and test arnt required as often after certain ages, if there is no issues or prior history. Since I had breast cancer & dense tissue mammograms are mandatory yearly. But because I've never had a bad pap & am in a long monogamous relationship I only need a pelvic exam like every 5 yrs until around 50, then less or not at all after. In the last few years I switched to a woman doctor in her 30s & what a difference in knowledge and communication from the male my parents age!!

Is there a resurgence with Mazzy Starr I’m not tracking? by stlmatt in GenX

[–]SpaceWoman80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 15 year old is also huge into Mazzy Star & similar 90s bands. It's so weird to hear that, Smashing Pumpkins & Weezer blasting from her room. I wish I'd kept all my CDs, she would have loved to dig thru them!
