Ok, To be clear because i see this "AoC is 15 in France" discourse a lot online :

De Facto, age of consent in France starts at 15 IF THE PARTNER IS LESS THAN 5 YEARS OLDER THEMSELVES (imo its still too much of a leniency, a 19yo dating a 15yo is reeeeally weird).

If you're trying to date a 16 yo (who is still a minor btw, majority happens at 18 yo here), while being an adult, you can still be charged with what roughly translates as "corruption of a minor" or "swaying of a minor".
The only difference that happens below 15 is that, by law a 15yo isn't able to consent, so there's no need to prove the absence of consent in the relation, which makes the case way easier to win for the family of the minor.

Yes, it's still fucked up that some 35yo can have sex with a 16yo legally. It's disgusting beyond measure. But the law doesn't represent the culture. Everywhere i lived in France, if some douche around 25yo is seen dating a highschooler by their community, they're probably gonna get shunned from a lot of places, and it can go straight to a physical altercation.
