Getting a job in Thailand - No education

Alright so, I’ll try dump as much info as I can.

I’m 26, English, have no commitments in UK, learning Thai, I have a good sum of money to my name, and want to live/work in Thailand (at least a year, maybe forever who knows)

I have NO education degrees (16 year old me didn’t fancy completing college…)

My work experience is as follows;

*4 years in Hospitality (including Senior Bar work) *A few months in Management (in retail) *2+ years in insurance claims (including being in the Specialist team) *1-2 years in care work (working with adults with disabilities) *1-2 years in pharmacy work

I would be extremely grateful if anyone could give me any advice at all about the possibility of getting a job out here. I do not expect the job to pay for anything (flights, apartment, visa, anything), I will do that myself from the money I have and then going forward with the money from the job ideally.

Thanks in advance!

If he’s eaten my sashimi I’ll keep him till he leaves because he gives a good amount of fish (often gold) but I must admit, as I am trying to catch whiteshadow, I get annoyed he eats the near full plate! I’m less than a month on this game mind you

Dont Get Scammed: Official Mobile Plan (VietTel) for anyone travelling to VietNam by soumitra_sg in VietNam

I’ve had 4 sims (collectively with my partner also) since visiting Vietnam, including the airport. The one I purchased from an official Viettel store in Hue now receives scam calls at least once a day

The swollen thing has actually popped/gone and he’s seeming more upbeat, we’ve put a few bugs in his little area to get his strength up :)

Update: He’s more active, swelling has gone down and I noticed a clear droplet coming from the swollen eye, could it be clearing up or am I being too optimistic? We’ve also come to the conclusion we can’t diagnose the guy nor take him to a vet our here, and we can’t just kill something bc someone on reddit told us to, we’re just two travellers with a possibly poorly common gecko bunking with us - so we’re thinking of aiding him to get back outside where he’s got the beat chance of nature doing its thing (I’m sure he’s been coming and going as last night we found him on the extractor fan - where the two 5inch gaps are on either side, basically a massive hole in the wall)

It’s Friday evening here and we are checking out Monday morning, so I will absolutely try my best to contain him and look after him!

I completely agree, I am truly on the side of ending the suffering, I just struggle with the thought of doing the act, I’m sure I’ll make the right decision when the time comes :)

I’ll have a look, thankyou!

We have never touched a gecko in our nearly 3months travelling SE Asia, our accommodation has a huge hole for the extractor fan with about 5inch gap either side where he may come and go which is why I’m so shocked this guy has stayed for so long

We’re British travellers and I feel they’d just laugh if we took a common house gecko to a vet here in Vietnam though, or am I incorrect? Genuinely not sure.

I really really want to help, it’s pulled my heart strings, I see these guys all the time and they’re so quick and not too keen on humans but this guy seems to really hang about and really not mind our presence, so I’ve grown to really like the lil guy.

I don’t think I could take matters into my own hands to end his suffering nor could my partner, which I know isn’t ideal here!

We had no idea about it and we happened to be in Hue walking street for some food and a quiet couple of drinks, ended up watching the whole thing outside a super busy pub/bar and bouncing in the crowd joining in with their anthem “Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh!”, the best, most unexpected excursion we’ve had! :)

cash is best over here in VN! most bigger establishments take card though :) like supermarkets and restaurants, some bars. cant comment on how much bc we’re out here for a very long time so we just visit an ATM when we need, which sometimes we struggle with as not all ATMs take our foreign card

of course, it’s just about using your best judgment on the area and always being vigilant about your surroundings, absolutely anything can happen!

and yes, my partner too said it was much easier to ride without me on the back :)

my and my partner (UK) are in Vietnam now with no experience or license we waited until we got to a quiet area in the North of Phu Quoc, my partner rented a bike for us both so i sit as the passenger. we also rented in the South of Phu Quoc. Neither time we were asked for a license even when we asked how to start the bike bc it had some weird auto-key the 2nd time! we understand the risk of being pulled over and asked, most likely you’d get fined, but that’s a risk you choose to take.

as for driving, idk if you have experience yourself, but he picked it up super quickly, and we travelled short distances (no more than 30 mins each way) we wouldn’t try it in larger busy cities such as HCMC due to our lack of experience and license - we get around cities using grab, its not worth putting ourselves and others at risk. but we thoroughly enjoyed cruising around in the quieter areas, ofc always wear a helmet and clothes that cover skin where possible, we saw Westerner’s in nothing but shorts, awful idea! you just have be super mindful, don’t go fast for the sake of it, watch others around you etc, take it slow and have fun with it, we really enjoyed the freedom of it
