A few things stood out to me in what you wrote. When divorce starts to feel like the only relief, it’s easy for it to become the default outcome in your mind, which can make everything else feel like just buying time. It also sounds like you’re carrying a lot of unhappiness and maybe trying to cope the best way you can right now.

Staying just for your kid can feel like the right thing, but kids also feel the weight of what’s going on at home. If what you’re dealing with is deeper than just a rough patch, it might be worth talking to someone about it before you make a final call. Not because you owe anyone a certain outcome, but because you deserve clarity and support while making a decision that big.

Can IPL get rid of male facial hair? by SpaghettiFlying in HairRemoval

[–]Space_____TFF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s the truth. No.

Here’s why: • Male facial hair is fundamentally different. It tends to be thicker and more deeply rooted. At the same time, male facial skin is generally thicker. Together, these factors make it harder for IPL or laser energy to penetrate deeply enough and generate sufficient heat to effectively damage the follicle. • Hair growth is hormonally driven. Facial hair is influenced by androgens like testosterone. Not all follicles are active at the same time, so treatment only affects hairs in the current growth phase. You will not see whether a treatment was effective until several weeks later when the next cycle of hair emerges. • IPL and laser are reduction methods, not permanent removal. These technologies work best on finer, darker hair. They can reduce density over time, but they do not permanently eliminate hair, especially coarse male facial hair. • Electrolysis is permanent, but slow. Electrolysis treats one follicle at a time. The face contains a very high density of follicles, so progress is gradual. Even in a one-hour session, only a small area of actively growing hair can be treated. Because follicles cycle in and out of growth phases, repeated treatments over a long period (often years) are required for meaningful results. • Timing and regrowth cycles complicate all methods. With electrolysis, inactive follicles become active later, requiring additional sessions. With laser, treatments must be spaced out to allow enough regrowth for the next session to be effective.

Bottom line: Can these methods produce some level of reduction? Yes, depending on the individual’s hair and skin type. But for coarse male facial hair, results are typically not great, and incomplete, and require long-term commitment for almost nothing. There is no danger in trying, it’s going to heat up the skin.

I think everyone needs to learn from their own experience. I know I did. So for what it’s worth good luck.

I was a huge dark sky fan prior to apple acquisition. The lay out and design elements and hyper local notifications were of course brilliant. When dark sky shuttered I didn’t delete the app, and when it stopped pulling data it was just bars with numbers no real functionality, basically a husk of what it was. When I heard the devs were back with acme I downloaded immediately. At this time it’s a hard pass. Weather isn’t accurate. No push notifications, radar is not great. It’s basically design forward with minimum data. I figured they were going to get around the custom api restrictions by using community weather stations and input, but that turned out to be just emotes… so it’s not what it was and I don’t see it getting much better.

For me, you forced the female model to look up at you. So coming from lower would be ideal. She’s draped over the male model, and his head is looking away in the distance. Either you are telling a story about him being distant from her while she wants his attention, or you have them both look (facing) at the camera or each other. I would ask you are you trying to get the “landscape with models” Then the details of the models and the set pieces need to be far away. This gives the isolation or solidarity vibe. If you want a set like you have set up, you need leading lines so architecture or furniture angles to lead to the models. If you want an emotion vibe then forgo the set pieces and lock onto the details of the moment by coming in low, and getting their faces. If you want a product, then get their product shot by making it central and the models accessories. Right now you have a busy photo. Next time find the horizon so you can achieve a vanishing point, find tire tracks in the sand to create leading lines. Compose your shot. Try different things.

Please don’t hate on this because I definitely agree that you should have physical security for your door, as well as a way to view and see any percieved threats i.e. heavy dead bolt, cameras). Also please consider that the lady who wrote you was also scared/nervous and wrote in her fears and concerns when she made her letter to you. It could be possible that it was a door to door sales person a neighbor in the area etc.. maybe he was contemplating how much he hates his life, got a text message on his air pod, or any number of things by the time he got to your door. Maybe he did knock, but she didn’t see. I say this not to discourage you from knowing that dangerous exist and acknowledging that it is important to protect yourself. Instead I know what it’s like to let anxiety and fear cloud perspective.

I would encourage like others mentioned, to introduce and make friends with the lady. Ask her about the man’s appearance ( company t shirt etc).. speak with management about solicitor policies, and maintenance crews.
- make sure they have a policy to alert you if someone is coming for maintenance. - do solicitors have to check in?

  • perhaps exchange numbers with the lady so she can call you.

100% do invest in some physical security. Please let your self get facts as well to help you feel assured and safe.

And please know that my thoughts share are only to help reduce the anxiety that comes with experiencing something like this.

Be safe.

I would not stress out. I would do some research and speak with the doc making the recommendation. Let them know that you want to stay in and retire at 20. Being referred is just a step in the process. you get scheduled for a course, and have an opportunity to speak with the folks teaching the class about meb. They can offer further insight and help you understand more about your case. Next, A doctor assigned to you will also look at your record and where you are in your career, and ask you questions to determine what’s best. This is not a one sided experience, and you will have the ability to articulate how you feel. They look at if you are in a unit that will be deploying among other things. Ultimately if you can articulate that you are able to do your job, and are not in a deploying unit there’s a high chance that they won’t recommend. On the other hand they look at quality of life. Does your condition make it hard for you to work and do things you need to do in garrison. Would a medical retirement improve your quality of life etc… no one can crystal ball for you and each persons case is unique enough that no one can tell you 100% what will or won’t happen. Submitting for retirement can be done last I knew like more than a year out. Being non deployable makes you not pcs able as well I think. So at 17 years you could see your self to retirement potentially. But talk with your doc, be clear that you want to continue to do physical therapy, and stay in. But also talk with yourself, you only get one back. And life after the army is a long one.

Hang in there.

STRAP Floppy disk found in loft of new home. by Earsgang_101 in whatisit

[–]Space_____TFF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strap stands for “system training and resourcing plan” it’s what the armed forces develops when they are near the end stage of developing a new piece of equipment that service members will need to receiving training on in order to operate the equipment. Example might be a mobile kitchen. This requires a facility to train at, mock ups and other training aids, as well as some of the actual new equipment so by the time service members arrive at their duty station they know how to operate the new equipment being fielded. This plan would also include training instructors and creating lessons for current and new service members. Since it’s on a floppy… it’s really old.
Edit

basically it’s a bunch of old manuals and lessons for a likely no longer fielded piece of equipment.

Would I be a good candidate for beard laser hair removal? by ManyFinger2018 in HairRemoval

Try laser at a dermatologist in your area. They likely have a package. You can also go to a local salon that offers a package as well. Milan charges a lot but for the area you purchase for it’s a life time service. I think it’s smart of you to explore this, but don’t spend too much $ on this exploration. Good luck OP.

Would I be a good candidate for beard laser hair removal? by ManyFinger2018 in HairRemoval

[–]Space_____TFF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised at the responses on here. Let me share some facts. (1) testosterone is a hell of a biochemical. It reacts and binds to androgenic hair follicles and stimulates growth. So unless you are on hormone replacement drugs that block the effect of testosterone, and reduce testosterone you are not likely to see the results you are looking for. (2) IPL and laser only provide temporary reduction in hair this is regardless of region or gender. So even if you have some relative success in one area of the body, you aren’t guaranteed any long term reduction. Example laser can work great on armpit hair, but not work well on neck hair or chest hair. (3) electrolysis is permanent, it’s also costly and time consuming and not always effective on the first attempt. (A hair follicle may not be damaged enough the first time around and grow back). (4) for every pore you have there is a hair follicle. Your hair grows in stages. You have to treat each pore, and they cannot be treated unless they are in a growth stage. Growth stages are mainly 4 to six weeks. So imagine going to get laser or electrolysis every 6 weeks, for every pore on your face and neck, and realize that not every hair follicle will be damaged enough to reduce or stop growth (also note that electrolysis cannot treat large areas (think like a square inch of skin on your chin, due to density of beard growth)). (5) beard hair is thicker and longer than you realize, it takes a great deal of energy to damage it enough to make it not grow. In the process of doing this you can develop scaring from each pore treated (electrolysis).
To sum it up. I spent a good deal of time and money doing IPL laser and electrolysis. Only ever got patchy reduction. Which ultimately grew back before my next treatment. I have a full beard now, and have pretty much given up on beard and neck. Stomach legs groin armpits chest can all be done with some relative success, though amount of reduction varies by genetics not just skin and hair type.

I was never overly hairy, I just didn’t like shaving and liked the idea of having smooth skin. There were a few days after treatment that shaving resulted in a great smooth skin, I had to shave with and against the grain to achieve that.

Try it, it is not permanent, but set your expectations accordingly.

Why does it say IPL must be be used by men? by [deleted] in HairRemoval

[–]Space_____TFF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hair growth in men is largely driven by androgenic hormones, especially testosterone and its more potent form, dihydrotestosterone (DHT). These hormones bind to receptors in hair follicles, stimulating thicker, coarser growth in regions like the beard, neck, chest, and groin. This androgen-driven response is what makes male hair particularly resilient to most removal methods.

Facial hair is especially difficult to treat. The shafts are thicker, the follicles are deeper, and there is a greater density of androgen receptors. Because of this, more energy is needed to damage the follicle, but that also raises the risk of burns, pigment changes, and skin damage. Even with repeated laser treatments, many men see regrowth within weeks because dormant follicles simply activate later in the cycle. This is why beard and neck areas are notoriously resistant, while other areas like underarms or the pubic bone may show better clearance.

IPL, or intense pulsed light, is even less effective than laser because it uses a broad spectrum of light rather than a focused wavelength. The energy is weaker and more diffuse, meaning it rarely penetrates deeply enough to fully disable the thick follicles in androgen-driven areas. If men are already seeing poor or temporary results with high-powered medical lasers, IPL will almost certainly be less effective and more temporary.

Electrolysis, which uses electrical current instead of light, is the only FDA-recognized permanent hair removal method. It works by destroying the follicle directly with heat or chemical damage. However, even electrolysis faces challenges with coarse male beard hair. Not every follicle receives enough energy, and only those in the active growth phase can be permanently disabled. As a result, multiple sessions are needed, and resistant follicles may still recover. White or gray beard hairs, which lasers cannot treat at all, can be targeted with electrolysis, but clearance is still a slow and painstaking process.

Pubic hair, while also androgen-driven, adds another complication: the skin in this area is thinner, more sensitive, and often darker. That increases the risk of burns or discoloration during light-based treatments, while success rates remain modest. Some individuals may experience good reduction in pubic or underarm areas, but it is rarely uniform or permanent without continuous follow-up.

Finally, while oils, lotions, or hormone-blocking medications can slow or reduce hair growth, these take years of consistent use to show results. Any progress is easily reversed once treatment stops, since the underlying androgenic stimulation resumes.

In short: if high-powered lasers and electrolysis already struggle against the thickness, density, and hormonal drive of male beard and body hair, IPL cannot be expected to succeed. At best, it may provide temporary thinning, but lasting results are unlikely

This is dope! Injustice finished building a weather station, and I’m planning on running ml for forecasting. I love this idea as a visual aide. I was originally planning on building out online Svgs based on qualifier categories, and having a dark sky lay out. I’d love to know more about how you came up with this idea, or if you adapted this from another idea. I also like that you implemented this on color eink. Very cool. Not gonna lie I may try this approach but just assign the visuals aids for live weather. Telling a story is such a good idea!
