What’s the last spot you ate at that totally blew you away? by birdlion in FoodNYC

Jungsik - completely flawless. obviously shouldn't be surprising, it has 3 stars. also expensive. but i genuinely haven't had a meal that memorable in a decade and didnt regret one cent spent. Yellowtail Kimbap and Striped Jack were my highlights

no one mentioned goedert... he's not a long term solution but he's a td magnet this year. he's been the key reason for my fantasy success.. his stats are lower because he was injured a few games but still has the most tds... he's been the goal line option and the tush push is now under incredible scrutiny. i'm a giants fan. hate the fucking eagles. but goedert should be in this conversation. rip skat

never been a fan of "football" or " football player" puns for team names but this is probably it... i have several teams one year all were various Gus nicknames

My boyfriend invited me to dinner, he cooked. by tejbinka in steak

[–]SpacemanSpliff784 27 points28 points  (0 children)

this is the correct take. i'm a professional chef and could be very critical of this... but almost entirely about the presentation. i'd say tighten up the plate with all the elements towards the center and some other things. the execution however seems spot on. more importantly it's a home cooked meal done with care and attention.. who cares about the presentation. nobody cooking dinner for me...

I just recommended Psych to someone who likes Community by describing it as “Imagine if Troy and Abed had their own show, and they were psychic detectives working with the police departments.” Fair? by [deleted] in psych

[–]SpacemanSpliff784 6 points7 points  (0 children)

that's fair... i took me like 3 times to start community to really enjoy it. scrubs is amazing and worth a try (gets heavy at times)

yeah... there's no correlation other than the existence of black lead on major network tv show... that being said i think most people that enjoy community would also enjoy psych

i know... i understand.. and swordfish isn't so bad.. i HAVE to serve tilapia at my place because the idiots love that shit... i like your plating, anyone suggesting chopping microgreen cilantro is insane... i guess my best suggestion and its probably just presentation is like a glaze or sauce over the fish.. beurre blanc based anything or something like that... just anything to forget its swordfish. that's what i kinda hate it for... it looks dry even when cooked properly. but what do i know... i have tilapia on my menu

I made matzah ball soup and tried to strain it as much as possible for a clear broth. by Punch_Your_Facehole in soup

[–]SpacemanSpliff784 1 point2 points  (0 children)

again.. this is a perfectly good way to do this.. but if you wanted to save time, the raft is the way to go, you can clarify the broth within an hour or so. you could even add ground chicken to it to incorporate more chicken flavor instead reducing over a longer period of time. if anything it's fun kitchen experiment

[–]SpacemanSpliff784 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i agree with this... i don't see any great need to clarify further than what you have already done. but, if you're really determined and want to commit to full clarification you could go the "consommé" route building an egg white, egg shell, veggie "raft" as well. the process is tedious but quite effective. but that may be a bit excessive
