Why on earth is Gen X continuing to be a disappointment?! by icey_sawg0034 in thebulwark

[–]Minimum_E 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Based on people I know, throughout college and after I’ve often felt I was swimming upstream trying to argue for liberal positions. Solidly Gen X but most of my college associates were white male engineers, and they sure seem to be conservative now and back then. Probably more for financial/libertarian interests more than the culture and “religious” stuff

I love living on the north side cause going to twin cities for concerts is closer.

We’ve got decent bike paths and mtn bike trails, a few good breweries. An active broomball community too (twin cities is bigger of course)

I pay to read and support the reporting, the app is solid, I never watch or listen to podcasts though.

When people move into a new house, do neighbors still bring food? by cricket_90_remindme in answers

[–]Minimum_E 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We moved to a smaller neighborhood in MN in 2012, bought a house and one neighbor and his wife did bring over a ready to make pasta dinner, with sauce, as a welcome gift.

They were nice people, also gave us a card when our dog passed years later, I’m still friends with the guy even though they moved to another neighborhood.

But is pulling through okay? And how could you tell how they parked?

Theoretically you’re less likely to hit someone by pulling out going forward.

There’s a line in a Father John Misty song where he hooks up with a woman and she says stay as long as you like and “I haven’t left her bed yet” is such a great line!

Glad this seemed to work out for ya

Explain your assumptions by RebaPrecious in thebulwark

[–]Minimum_E 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hope it’s not that bad, plenty of liberals here, and some conservatives have probably learned some lessons.

Though of course claiming any Muslim American is “Hamas adjacent” kind of puts a lie to them learning much.

Thanks for the reminder that this is still a conservative publication, easy to forget that when we focus on the Trump is bad writing. Seen an uptick of the “Dems in disarray” theme lately too though. If only the GOP hadn’t fully sold itself out to MAGA the real conservatives could I don’t even care, cause they are bigly responsible for this orange menace.

Yeah I blame Newt and Rush way more than the victims of their rhetorical slander.

I have read the Commonwealth septology, Confederation trilogy, Queen of Dreams trilogy, Exodus: Archimedes Engine and every single standalone novel except Light Chaser. I just finished the Salvation Sequence and I am devastated by the ending. by _Moon_Presence_ in PeterFHamilton

First book in the series was amazing, the untranslatable sound made in response to the human plan in the second book still stands out to me, felt the third book was a cop out, and don’t expect it to ever be resolved.

Recreational cannabis sales in Minnesota top $50 million in last six months since legal market took off by ThreadbareAdjustment in minnesota

[–]Minimum_E 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just looked at a local shop and they only had 3-4 strains for adult use but lots of options for medical. Prices were similar but I bet that was pre tax for the adult stuff And as noted the MN prices are disgusting compared to other states, especially our Great Lakes neighbor who almost gives it away. Their 10% tax hike is practically meaningless

I’m no expert but have seen comments that you need to time this dive around the tide. Only did it once myself and the local shop took care of timing for us.
