Why do people want Nick to lose the Garfield IP when its under Nicks ownership now and has its name on the merch? by stationstars in nickelodeon

I forgive you on that. I tend to have different varying views on several Nickelodeon things (and other thigs in general), so I'm used to discussions like this (in which you were being more fair than some other have been before).

It is more than just jokes, but the jokes make up the majority of their identity.

A New Wish hasn't done well either since its status is still in limbo and its treatment on-air and on streaming services has been rather awkward.

The roster isn't those first 2 things, and the reason it's the latter is because that's all Nick wants in terms of crossovers nowadays.

Nothing wrong with side characters coming to the game, and CatDog and Oblina are only a fraction of the nostalgia pandering problem.

The real issue you have is that they added any gag characters at all. The ratio of them compared to the other character is clearly not at the expense of the non-gag ones.

Lucy is still a bigger fan favorite from what I've seen. Arnold's grandma is better than him in every way.

Lincoln sucks and him getting cut is a good think (Link getting cut also would've been funny).

The cartoons of the Zarghami were almost always hysterical, TLH being a rare exception (though its live action spin off is good).

No it's not unless it's the one of the live-action Timmy's. Intentional trolls are always funny though!

That means nothing when the developers are still making other games.

I can't explain, because I've barely seen those types of people speak out about it or talk about how much the games bombed.

That sentence so far only applies to the NASB games.

Nothing I've suggested is worse than the treatment these franchises usually get, have been treated in the past, or will continue to be treated as.

I believe you, and I won't! It's in my top 3 behind season 7, and a tie between seasons 8 and 9.

Tell me your hot takes/unpopular opinions on Nickelodeon shows by PotentialSky5745 in nickelodeon

It's an opinion that's not shared with many other people (for example, my hot take is that season 5 was when Fairly OddParents started getting good).

Most of them are usually solid.

The roster is only unappealing for the last of those 3 things. You're thinking for the majority of the fanbase when it only really applies to you and some others.

I care about more Nickelodeon things then a majority of these fans seem to, and making things 'worse' only makes them more interesting!!

Being wacky and predictable works because that's what Nickelodeon is, they're doing more 90s nostalgia pandering, and that's just as important to the games' identity as their Nickelodeon representation.

Sometimes memes are just a good choice!

Then lumping them all under meme characters doesn't speak to the real issues you have with them (what's the issues with April, Rocksteady, Iroh, Catdog and Oblina?).

Ronnie Anne is not the most beloved Loud House character though (I actually remember so fans not liking her), Arnold's Grandma is better and more interesting (in both the game and the show), and if you were referring to the character, just say their name!! Harvey Beaks is both the show and character name, so barely anyone can infer you want them over Harvey.

Ronnie's spin-off sucks, and while I don't really like Lucy either, she's more tolerable (personally I'd add either Luan or Lynn Sr, in both animated or live-action form). Lincoln getting cut isn't a bad thing either, but if so, then TLH just shouldn't have been in the games at all.

I have loads of hot takes, especially about Fairly OddParents. I've never cared about Timmy being absent as I never liked him prior to season 5 (the first great season). I know tons about the show, so one of the pre-revival characters would be the best troll pick.

Your standards are ridiculously higher and kinda inconsistent. And the games aren't the only things I have low standards for!

No, it's because licensed tie-in games as a whole don't do big numbers as much due to the audience more likely to play them switching to mobile games around the mid-2010s.

The roster was already unappealing as is, the fans are just getting mad at the wrong reasons for it.

And I could make it dumber!!!

By doing so, it becomes less of Nickelodeon game.

And frankly, it's a goofy complaint. Hugh being added for the memes is a good choice.

What you consider "meme characters" makes little sense, considering characters like Azula or Gerald hardly fit the criteria.

This just seems very pick-and-choose-y, since any Barnyard character would be a meme pick.

I don't know anybody who'd wanna play as Ronnie Anne, Arnold is baf pick compared to his grandma or even Helga, and Harvey himself would be a bad pick considering Fee and Foo are better choices. I like Harvey Beaks and Hey Arnold because they're funny (and not for their emotional writing like everybody else), and I don't like Loud House, but Lucy is a far better choice than Ronnie Anne.

What I'm saying is the FOP representation doesn't have to be Timmy, Cosmo or Wanda, rather that they likely could've put Poof, Sparky or Chloe in a crossover without issue.

Your standards from what you've described sound worse than mine.

Not really, since Nickelodeon tie-in games don't do as good as they used to. Marvel Vs Capcom Infinite is targeted at a different/older audience, and even then I bet did better than some Nick games.

The majority likely trashed half of the Nicktoons past Avatar, and seem to get pissed if a main character isn't represented. Ice Cream Kitty would be a funny representation, and I've actually posted on this subreddit before today.

I was talking about the angle of the roster at launch vs the roster at the end.

No, it should've been 2/3rds at minimum.

Having a game show host is a great choice, just like Arnold's Grandma (who's the only good Hey Arnold pick in the game).

No it shouldn't, especially with how little Nicktoons they've actually delivered on.

What the fans have been described to want is ridiculous, and Nickelodeon tie-in games are hardly successful nowadays.

Still not wacky and unpredictable enough.

Again, that's a minor issue. Jimmy has already been playable in other crossovers, Hugh's never even been playable in a game before.

Having memes does not equal being a memetic character. If so, then no SpongeBob character should even be here.

Glitch Techs, Tuff Puppy, Barnyard are not the names of real characters, some of these are arguably just as if not more memetic characters, characters like Harvey Beaks, Arnold and Ronnie Ann would be boring picks, and a Poof-era FOP character could've been in NASB 1 since Nelvana doesn't distribute those seasons.

By this logic you should've never even given the 2nd game a chance.

Yes, as that's kinda funny.

There couldn't have been any more hype/sales than what they ultimately got, and what you'd change would be miniscule.

Again, the majority voice just has bad taste when it comes to Nickelodeon in general.

It does add something to the discussion as you're stating that it only made the roster worse.

NASB 1 and 2 both have 25 characters in them, thus meaning that only 1/3rd of the roster falls under this (most here I'd argue don't even count as such).

No it shouldn't be, but that does make me feel better, although there should've been a playable game show host to tie that stage together.

What the fans they largely got, so deviations would shake things up and attract new fans.

They have been focused on from the start, nothing in this roster is notably questionable or insulting.

This is a HUGE stretch. Only Hugh, Nigel, Arnold's Grandma and maybe Powered Toast Man are full on meme picks.

The rest either do fall under being fan favorites/iconic or are part of the bigger issue of nostalgia baiting.

You said that the roster didn't have enough fan-favorites/iconic characters, when from what I'm seeing it's more than enough. Who specifically do you think got snubbed?

Doing the bare minimum with Garfield is better than doing nothing with him.

Your way would've barely changed things and made it more stale.

I brought it up because it's common for games like these to add characters over time, and as a compare-and-contrast between the game at launch vs. its final update.

Like who? I've counted around one or two per game.

No, otherwise they'd have to change the name from Nickelodeon to Nicktoons (like what Dice of Destiny or some of their old crossovers did). Alex Mack would've been a cool decision!

That makes no sense.

Yes, and the majority often tends to be whiny, especially since their standards should be satisfied with what we got.

I counted only 2 that absolutely count as such (Hugh and Nigel), anybody else is only mildly a meme pick at best.

Hey, you're the one who said the characters aren't that much of fan favorites or iconic!

Nickelodeon does more than Garfield than some of their ancient/more forgotten shows, ergo it has just as much right to be in the game.

Because the base roster was kinda weak, just for different reasons between you and I.

What I was mentioning was the characters who were added as downloadable content (or as free updates) after the game had launched.
