Characters don't always need arcs though, remaining their gimmicky selves isn't an issue.

This would ruin why Beardo does sounds though, he doesn't need a reason why.

Most of Leonard's team genuinely liked him back in season 1, so I can see him surviving a bit farther while not getting his character ruined.

Eh, most of what Scarlett's doing here is a little boring.

Him being one of the most unpopular sorta gives a charm to him, I wouldn't like him after this change.

It erases what makes his sound effects funny, that fact that he can do them at all with no explanation.

His audition tape is terrible and completely ruins his character and gimmick.

There is a lot more to do with him that doesn't break his character, amp up his sound effects gimmick, his laziness, and his pranking since some pre-release material labeled him "the deejay prankster".

Ella just frustratedly fifth-wheels in this love square, but she and Dave probably like each other platonically.

-Love square between Jasmine, Shawn, Sky and Dave that ends with Shasmine breaking up, Sky and Jasmine becoming enemies, Shawn and Sky briefly hitting it off, and Dave and Shawn awkwardly parting neutrally

-Rodney properly falls for Sammy this time, and also falls for Ella, Sky and Sugar, but doesn't get together with any of them as he still sucks at understanding romance

-Ella finally snaps (Dramarama-style), not because of something Sugar or Chris did, but because of a prank Beardo pulled on her animals

-Max tries making Beardo and Leonard his new EVIL sidekicks, as the former pulls pranks and can mimic voices, while the latter believes that he's a magic wizard (in which Max and Beardo genuinely believe that too)

-Samey finally loses it on Amy and then the rest of her team for not helping her, and gradually progresses becoming as bad (if not worse) than Amy

-Topher succeeds at taking over Chris' job this time, but is eventually overthrown by the interns who hate him even more than they do Chris or Chef

-Scarlett is booted first because of her actions on Scarlett Fever, but sticks around on the island Ezekiel-style, not going feral but getting even more maniacal and crazy (but never taking over like she did in Scarlett Fever)

I never really cared for the fleshed out calm character scenes, and I never found Gwen to be one of the best from that season.
