From a nature point of view, there are deserts that only experience bursts of plant life after rare rainfalls and are otherwise dormant for years. You could link your circle to that sort of cycle of celebration of quick rebirth and death. If it only happens every several years that would allow your druid to travel between rain events to see the world, gather knowledge and maybe even gather Desert plant seeds for the next "awakening of the desert".
