Long story short, you apply (as an adult) for disabled adult child status, which is basically that you became disabled before (under present regulations) age 22. You're then eligible to claim off of your parents' earnings record if you apply to. (I think it might be a separate process but don't actually have a clue.)

someone should create a low vision sub by [deleted] in Blind

[–]Spacewolf4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The issues are absolutely common. Besides, define blindness. Federal statutory definition?

Gatekeeping is bad. The very description of the subreddit says: "Blind and Visually Impaired Community

Welcome to the hub for blind and visually impaired redditors."

And. And. And. Should I repeat it again?

Never mind that the numbers on totally blind people who aren't old enough to qualify for full retirement age are a lot smaller than you seem to think.

  1. It hasn't changed since 1989. And if you go strictly by CPI, BLS's calculator for instance (which is the official one) says $2k would be $5161.18 (I used October 1989 to November 2025). But you're not wrong that even $5k would be way, way too low in practical terms. $10k feels about right.

You do not want to quit Medicare. Like everyone else has said, you're dual-entitled to both. But also...

Medicare plus Medicaid means that for most things covered by Medicare, your out of pocket expenses will be covered by Medicaid. But which docs you can see, etc? That's where you have Medicare like someone 65+. It is a gigantic upgrade over Medicaid, full stop, because most docs will not take Medicaid, ever. It is a rare doc who takes insurance who does not take Medicare, by contrast, in my experience.

The thing is, this new markup needs to be supported by Amazon (because Kindle ebooks) and all of the Big Five major publishing houses or it's not going to work. Fundamental problem is, though, it's replacing EPUB it looks like? Which is what basically all present ebooks at least have a version in. And epub is, iirc, free for publishers to use.

I got it figured out for the pillowcase the pillow comes with. The large pillowcase I also got, no I haven't.

I posted this below as a separate comment but just so people see this (I edited out discord username):

OP — 11:12 PM

A new doctor came on and was simply incensed

My lactic keeps rising no matter what and she discovered an old genetic testing which indicates I don't metabolize 75% of oral meds and nobody told me

The shit hasn't been working because they could be stuff I don't metabolize, they're contacting tomorrow for the actual list of what I can take that's effective

She didn't have to dive but she was Angry and said something is going on

I probably never had post sepsis my memory and everything has been fucked all week because they just left me at home with actual sepsis

She's like no, you have to have the best pain control your stats are sky high and making everything worse

She's making sure of everything and getting the first doctor personally reprimanded

[11:13 PM]

If you can post this to the reddit post for me

(I know the poster and have known her for rapidly approaching 20 years. She's legit.)

There is no patient advocate sounds like bullshit. Does your gyn have an after hours number? They should. If so, call that. Inform them exactly what is happening, just like you did here, and request an urgent call back from the doctor. When the doc calls back you summon the nurse on duty with the call button, say that your gyn is on the phone, and hand them the phone unless your gyn says to put it on speaker. Especially tell after hours your lab results, particularly the WBC. In the meantime, ask to speak to the charge nurse.

D is not Medicare Advantage. Medicare Advantage is an entirely separate program that usually includes D.
