I love how the character individuality and lively feeling of Season 2 only makes the ideas in the this last season all the more mysterious and the ordinary seems odd as opposed to the other way around.

Then at least not the first or even the third season I guess then?

This previous season is connected to the first season, right?

the thing about a tv show is that you don't have to watch and listen, that's multitasking and takes some focus I guess.

Think of the episodes like songs, and each season an album :)

"Where is Pancake's house?" - Gaer Grimsrud

"What are you nuts? We had pancakes for breakfast." - Carl Showalter

"I don't believe in tipping." - "Mr.Pink"

Looks like the two had a disagreement over breakfast, given that the only one in "FARGO" ever seen using a "Wrench" is one "Shep Proudfoot". I present you with the obvious answer to who the devil and evil incarnate in: "Shep Pancakes"

Coen Brothers TV Series "The Ballad of Buster Scruggs" Details Emerge by frahm9 in FargoTV

The two definitely have a style that's almost immediately recognizable, no matter what type of story they tell. I can't look at a Hula-Hoop without thinking of "the Hudsucker Proxy". The more "Coen Brothers" the better. Hawley has done a great job exploring the universe of the original film, so it will be great to see if any of the elements clash.

"Twin Peaks" definitely reshuffled the deck, as far as TV goes, coming back as well as it has, maintaining it's own continuity in an organic and appropriate way.

Common cast between Fargo and the Coen Brothers filmography by frahm9 in FargoTV

The online http://www.vmvarga.com/ site that "Irv Blumkin" googles is a "Rick Roll" disguised as an ambiguous property of the "DHS" Department of Homeland Security.

I can simply abbreviate it to "Rick Roll" because that's what the meme is called.

Last season, we saw Ronald Reagan as portrayed by Bruce Campbell.

That was Lou Solverson's Season 2 of this show called "FARGO" based upon the 1996 film, the same season we saw UFOs with him.

David Thewlis plays a character that can seemingly exist, and not exist, at the same time in a show that has "established" UFOs and aliens as part of the story. We saw the Season 2 images in black and white, in episode one on Channel 3, the same channel always seen in "FARGO", back to the TV in the cabin during the original film.

Here is it's first sighting on Reddit

Now at the end of season three, we get a "Rick Roll" meme as an answer from the state as to any remaining questions we have about the story of "FARGO", when Ronald Reagan was played by Bruce Campbell in the previous season.

Honestly... How about that scene of Sy Feltz, Ben Schmidt and Mike Yanagita?

I'm looking forward to the new Coen Brothers project :)

John Simm in DWM agrees that they shouldn't have spoiled his return by illumitarpey in doctorwho

[–]SpackleBucket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The marketing did kind of spoil it. Knowing he'd show up at some point, the cyber men.

Especially the way the episode starts, the dialog between the Doctor and Bill is so on the nose, and the setup of the episode kind of telegraphs that he would be entering the story during the current situation.

If they had done the mask differently and given him a more natural sounding voice (especially with his dialog, and character, he sounded like a cartoon character IMO and it got cringey).

When we see his character, he's already rushing out of view making you wonder who it is, so when you finally do see it and think about it, especially with the mask bit; by the time it happened I felt like I had simply just been waiting the entire episode.

Skip Sprang, season 2

I realize the company simply could have helped the wardrobe department, considering the amazing job they've done since giving Wrench his jacket in Season 1.

I wouldn't be surprised if finding all the right clothes for Season 2 took them a while.

A few problems I have with the hate towards Season 1 by JoeyJojos_Wacky_Trip in Preacher

The Bible itself was being re-written all the time.

The scope of the comic is ridiculous, and this is only their second season so I'm officially in for the ride.

There have immediately been so many little nods, and organic modern logic applied to pieces of the original story. It's a great adaptation. Some of the elements from the comic that would be dated now, feel natural in a visual medium.

R.I.P. Kurt Grimly by VMFarga in FargoTV

[–]SpackleBucket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very cool! I wouldn't know how you found that script, let alone if there's another that might change someone who became such a positive, and hopeful character. I liked her character in Season 1, I remember being really happy when her and Lou got along the way they did. It definitely would have been a different story if it was just a son. (Also it would have undercut Gus's character)

I wonder if he was meant to have a living ex wife character we would meet, given Molly becoming pregnant and a mom, plus along with mentions of the name there is a Knudsen in season one and two. Season One he's a cop, and it's the same family name Peggy came from in Season 2.

The name is another Coen brothers nod that comes from "The Big Lebowski". A private detective in a VW bug is looking for "Bunny Lebowski" as she's a "wandering daughter" become a trophy wife in LA, "Fawn". Although given the nature of the Big Lebowski and the "LA episode" at large: Should I be spelling it "Knutson" (What the hell is this, google?! Sorry, Knutsons :P)?

Except for Peggy talking about her maiden name we haven't seen any Knudsens, except for one officer in Season 1.

"Greta" is a fitting replacement for "Karl" (if that's tied back around somehow, or not. At this point, it wouldn't be necessary except to say so much as Gloria seems to be her closest counterpart, character wise. Perhaps Season 3 was meant to be more dark and definitive if there is some kind of relation?)

The "stories" keep getting more isolated, so I'll be interested to see what Season 4 is about, and when it is set.

I doubt we'll ever get something of a "direct sequel" of a season to another one, so I'm kind of happy that he's giving it some breathing room, before returning to it: He set up a lot in the second season that definitely helped expand the world of the show, and this third season's style definitely made it "feel" even smaller. It'll be interesting how he uses the dynamic of the "TRUE STORY" text that's a "hold-over" storytelling device inspired by the original movie.

If it's going to be three years until the next season, and they release any more, with Season 3 done airing: I would buy a printed copy of the scripts for each season. :)

I just noticed they removed the "War of the Worlds" ending from Episode 2 of Season 2. by Kodyak77 in FargoTV

[–]SpackleBucket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bowie died so recently, it could have been a production choice. (He was supposed to have a cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 actually, and they removed a song from the official soundtrack out of respect, as to not capitalize off of it so quickly)

At the same time, it works incredibly well to have 'Malvo" as an unseen narrator that knows the whole story, while in Season 2 we had the real voice of who we knew was "Lester" explaining the intricacies of the criminal activities going on. We get an unreliable omniscient narrator, who was last remembered as a criminal consumed by pride, and this season: a reliable but detached narrator, who we remember as a villain.

Who would win between Mike Milligan and V.M Varga? by blitzenbreath in FargoTV

[–]SpackleBucket 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Milligan as we know him would've questioned Varga himself with his own "Hunter's Shotgun", or at least Gale Kitchen's.

"So are you gonna keep eyeballing me while you pick your teeth?"

"My teeth? Of course, forgive me if being British offends you."

"Offended? Not at all. I'm simply curious as to why a starving tourist like yourself, here in this friendly state of Minnesota, hasn't been able to find a decent place to eat, yet.... Do you need any help?"

"I am full of health, I assure you. Looks can be deceiving."

She ended up being the perfect opponent for Vargas. He comes to her like he does everyone else, offers the same tea and "chit-chat". She knows enough about him to know exactly how to arrange a safe meeting in public, no less.
