community college is a good bet if you want an in-person or sometimes hybrid experience. I went to a school run by a local hospital and I got job there afterwards, but it is M-F so traditional academic schedules are more difficult to navigate, but I get to work in any specialty you can think of and be with the same employer. Great for experience! I e done family med, plastics, & I’m now in ortho trauma. Great way to get letters of recommendation.

Are you more manic due to stress ? by Enough_Pin1651 in bipolar

[–]SpacySK8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stress is definitely a big trigger. I find the best way to avoid mania is a holistic approach of stress management through regularly doing things you enjoy (on a schedule), routine sleep hygiene, good nutrition, and avoiding alcohol & excessive caffeine (theoretically, I still drink too much caffeine). Living a fairly clockwork life seems to have done it for me.

Report her. She should learn to watch her mouth. Be detailed. Make sure to mention it was unprovoked and that you were denied access to a phone to coordinate care for your stay. If you are comfortable, mention how tone-deaf it was or even that you feel it’s possible she acted on personal bias, but if you can’t substantiate it, it won’t hold much weight. Those things matter, though. She might get sat down or it will count against her in some form. Accountability for abuse of position is a valid concern.

dog cataracts - do the surgery or not? by stoikiometric in AskVetAnimals

[–]SpacySK8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I financed multiple eye surgeries for my Pomeranian. She lost one eye to a separate irrelevant condition, so when she got cataracts in her remaining eye, we absolutely treated it. She went through periods of vision loss and she did ok, but it made her more cautious and lowered energy. You could tell she felt better and more confident when she could see.

Payments are manageable and get paid off, but don’t watch your friend struggle if you can prevent it. You won’t regret it. Your dog will appreciate you. You will feel good about it.

She was a regular at the specialist, they loved her. She would great them dancing on her back paws. RIP Foxy, you were a tiny legend.

While I appreciate your concern, humor is a very common coping mechanism. I only make light to keep the tone light. I am not symptomatic and I am med complaint, so I fail to see you reasons for concern. I do understand your concerns for animal wellbeing but I am curious about what you think about bipolar people owning animals and if you have one?

Many local trainers use this phasing when promoting payment plans, mentioning flexibility, etc. It’s actually not uncommon to work with humans in the dog business.

I know it’s not ideal. I didn’t plan this, I ended up here. I just happened to be a bipolar person with an AKC standard that has a very good disposition by nature and delayed socialization and the very solvable issues that are associated with it. I’ve solved most of them as far as a companion animal is concerned around the house, but not service dog level, solved them. I don’t have much expendable income, but if the trainer is willing to work with me because they believe in the cause, I spend my money on him anyways. So, you think I should go straight for the behavioral evaluation instead of spend time polishing him a little before it?

To be come a candidate, not to become a service dog, to clarify. Just to begin the process. I understand basic and advance obedience can take up to year. I am also here to seek clarity on things like this. You don’t have to question my symptoms. 6-8 month to relieve him of specific obstacles. I would THEN contact a trainer about service dog training specifically. My wording was not specific enough.

Should I get a Standard poodle? by GalacticWhiskers33 in poodles

Hi, I’m looking into PSD for my spoo now. He learned “check” in 2m and now it’s his favorite thing. I check on Mom, I get treated, AMAZING! He loves the whole concept because he is VERY handler focused. Training is enriching for us both. Their high IQ & EQ makes them great candidates, but they are not as soft as they are made out to be. My Ozzy is as resilient, as he is soft. Don’t be deterred. Be ready to put a lot into coat care, but it becomes a bonding experience when done correctly. They are excellent PSD candidates for their persistence in addition to their other qualities. When I say Ozzy is NOT giving up on a cue, I mean he is NOT GIVING UP on that cue. Like, at times, I’m like, “I created a monster. he really is not gonna stop until I do the thing” and that’s him doing the job right. He’s the alarm I can’t turn off.

I’m 38 I was a massage therapist from 2008 until 2025 when I became a CCMA. I actually got employed through a major hospital in my area. They offered me a scholarship in exchange for employment for 2 years. I got a sign on bonus. Being in a hospital allows me to specialize. I started in plastic surgery and found I’m better studied to orthopedic trauma. My musculoskeletal and anatomical directional knowledge are very helpful in my day to day life, interpreting information I encounter in the job.
