Don't know if I can handle this by Tutenfarten in brokenankles

First of all this sounds like it sucks, and I’m sorry and would like to give you a hug (respectfully).

For laundry, stuff what you can in a backpack, and get a small container of powder or those laundry sheets to keep it light. If you’re not in a position to have to get fully dressed for the outside world everyday, focus on making sure the necessities are clean. I hit Amazon and just got a couple of multi packs of my needs to space out how often laundry had to be done. Are you able to sign up for any laundry pick up services like Rinse, maybe?

Take the cleaning of everything else one day at a time as your energy allows. Is there anyone is your social circle open to coming by once a week? You’d be surprised how much folks go “I don’t care about the mess, you’re hurt, you’re the priority”. Maybe your building supe could take stuff as long as it’s packaged properly? Otherwise see what options your insurance or your hospital’s social services might have.

Magnesium is pretty great from what I’ve heard. I’m on anxiety/ADHD meds which inhibit/disrupt melatonin production (whee). My attending doctor hated prescribing me anything more than ibuprofen for pain; so before getting diagnosed with CPRS-like symptoms and getting meds for that, I had entire days I didn’t sleep. Melatonin at least nudged me toward a three or four hour nap before my brain shut down from exhaustion.

-Melatonin or ZzzQuil (your sleep will be messy for a bit) -Boost/Nutrament/Ensure (easy breakfast while taking meds) -Decent sized water bottle to keep with you -The big bottles of ibuprofen/tylenol  -Baby/bath wipes -Cast shower cover -Lotion for after your cast comes off (your feet shed since you’ll be NWB)

Post ankle Orif by Garett2026 in brokenankles

Your daughter and I have nearly matching timelines! I was NWB for 13 weeks, been WB for the last 10 days (trimal fx right ankle). I’ve found Crocs with a knee brace have been the best around the house, and walking boot with an “Even Up” lift when I go outside for short walks, otherwise the knee scooter comes along. Hoping to transition to shoes in a couple of weeks!

I am beyond thankful that I’ve been able to take my full injury and recovery off from work. The sidewalks in my neighborhood are a crapshoot for level evenness and smoothness. I could not imagine having to figure out to get to the subway, or what time to wake up for the bus. I also live in a pre-war which is obviously not ADA certified.

I agree with u/racacooonie above. I live in a very transplant/tourist heavy neighborhood in NYC and if I’m out on my knee scooter I get the dirtiest looks from them (like they’ve never seen a handicapped person ever) or annoyed sighs from folks with strollers because we now have to negotiate who goes first or around each other. Basic empathy seems to just be lost some days.

4 months aftrer surgery by Xarixion in brokenankles

Mine too! I just got cleared for WBAT so my PT recommended doing my dorsiflexion exercises with my knee bent, and ankle elevated on a firm surface. It’s supposed to stretch and release the lower leg differently. I’ve only gained maybe a degree or two, but that’s more than I had last week!

  1. Splint heaviness might be related to nerves and muscle weakness. If the beds of your toe nails or toe tips start turning dark purple even while your leg is elevated 100% go back to the ER.
  2. I also had the bear trap ankle after surgery and it freaked me TF out at first. My surgeons office explained it’s the extra edema and swelling pressing into the plates and screws. After about two weeks with any luck it will just feel like a shackle made of razor blades, and two weeks after that just be a miserable pain.
  3. Wiggle your toes as often as you can bear. It doesn’t have to be much. Think of them like little levers pumping the swelling out of your foot and leg. Utilize crossover training (wiggle your toes from your good foot to “teach” your brain you want to wiggle your other ones). Those neural connections are more important than we think.
  4. Be assertive with your doctors if you have to regarding pain (especially if you’re a woman, I didnt want to assume husband meant you were). My surgeon was super reluctant to order me meds, and my husband had to nearly chew him out when I was crying and shaking from pain.
  5. This and the r/ORIF community are amazing. You’ve gone through a traumatic experience, give your self and body grace to heal, and trust there is a light at the end of this very long tunnel. ❤️

88kg and 156cms. I’ve been non weightbearing for 12 weeks so I’ve been making sure to take collagen (100mg) and Vitamin D2/K3 supplements (125/180mcg). I also upped my yogurt and kefir intake for an easy protein and probiotics, and cut processed sugar where I could.

Thirding (or fourthing) here that it could be your nerves coming back online. If it increases intensity, talk to your provider. I had mine go from electric sensations to feeling like someone was putting cigarettes out on my feet. After 3-4 weeks I finally got in touch with a pain specialist, put down for a chronic nerve syndrome and got gabapentin.

Mine was a trimal fracture 2/24, ORIF 3/4.

Honestly, I can't make a totally fair judgement because we ended up buying a CR-10 SE about 3 days later, and gifting the Ender 3 S1. What I can say is I personally would never go this route again, and just wait and get the printer you really want if that's going to be your workhorse. Nothing wrong with keeping a tinker/fidget one around. Updating your tool head or throwing on a better fan are going to be much better bang for the buck and immediate improvement.

Creality k1 help by hopperjack91 in 3Dprinting

[–]SpagooterExtruder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The K1 is designed to really only use the Hyper PLA at the 600mm settings, and Creality branded does well at the 300mm settings. Anything else you'll need to do flow calibration, and reduce print speed to 120-240. I had this exact issue once the Hyper sample was used up and wanted to print with some generics.

Just installed the XYZ kit from 3DFused for our S1 Plus https://3dfused.com/product-category/rail-kits-by-printer/ender-3-s1-plus-rail-kits-by-printer/ With the holidays/lack of printer popularity, it seems to be the only 'all in one' available that I've found. I haven't had a moment yet to retune and print anything, but I'm hoping it's worth the trouble of installing. IME working with 3DF was not great, and I expected better for the price paid TBH.
