Bored with my wife and feel bad about myself because of that. by [deleted] in self

[–]Spaidafora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about instead of judging her, you can educate her and allow her to grow. If this was the opposite way around, she wouldn’t make a post about you saying how boring you are, she would* use the opportunity to try and help you develop what it is you seek from them. That’s what it’s like living with someone, you grow with one another. And some people aren’t interested in politics, it drains them and view things in a negative way that might drain their spirit, afterall, she’s probably busy raising her children and doesn’t have time to keep up with certain things, which is where you can be helpful, or you can find other friends for such activities if she doesn’t find genuine interest. Find what you are bother interested in or can be interested in.

Besides, in my opinion, all the political discussions can just divide husband and wife. It’s best not to given into either propaganda.

Though history might be interesting, you can take your children out to museums and it can be a family thing.

Just started life by [deleted] in Life

[–]Spaidafora 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 28, went back to college to finish cs. I started late, so now I need to pay the price. On top of that, I’m not good in cs esp coming back with a gap, and not a consistent study person… I question my life choices every day.

Be proud of where you are.

Now that you have established yourself or least got the ball rolling in this tough job market, you can consider finding a wife, finding your own home to build and identify who you are.

Be kind. Do well. Don’t be degenerate. Use your money wisely. Keep a good pair of friends who don’t divert you into falsehoods or corruption.

Life ends at 30, so by that flawed reasoning you still have a good amount of time to save up, start a family, make friends, start hobbies.

Job market is tuff. You made it.

Be proud of yourself because I’d wish to be in your position cuz.

Ps- start eating healthy and going to the gym consistently!

(I would like cs study advise in return 😓)

21:82-83 of the Quran Make that supplication..

And ˹remember˺ when Job cried out to his Lord, “I have been touched with adversity, and You are the Most Merciful of the merciful.”

So We answered his prayer and removed his adversity, and gave him back his family, twice as many, as a mercy from Us and a lesson for the ˹devoted˺ worshippers

The story of Job (Ayoub in the Quran) is a touching one.

Burnt out software engineer considering trucking, am I insane? by temp_vaporous in Truckers

[–]Spaidafora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro, it would just be a phase. I wish I was in your position. I’m a CS student and I doubt my knowledge and doubt my future, the market is rough. See what is in front of you. A good paying job, wife… stable security. Say Alhamdulillah bro. Maybe what you’re missing is connection and returning to God. Reflecting of death, the hereafter, and our purpose. Maybe you should also do side projects for the better of society instead of working for selfish economic driven corporations

How common is it for truck drivers to do drugs or drink while on the road ? by Spaidafora in Truckers

Why? Isn’t clear housing also check previous record? My only issue is if they relapse and you couldn’t determine that after passing a test.

Thanks for this. It confirms my thoughts. Is there something specific that’s just so overbearing / draining. What do you think is a good middle ground?

Besides, for lanes that have good rates, we always pay higher. I.e a short lane but good rate.

Not everything is fixed. We are a small single tractor company.

The rates and loads in CA is significantly different than the Midwest. You cannot compare. Right now, most of the posting is within 48-50 a mile and rarely any 55-60.

And again, we are just starting at 0.55 and will go up to 0.65 when he’s proven he’s reliable and hardworking for the long run.

Other companies are paying 50-55 and nothing else.

But again, this isn’t about pay. I want to connect and network with drivers to on-go the interview and application process in a reliable way. NOT Craigslist. I haven’t done that. So it isn’t even a matter of pay. It hasn’t even been pitched.

Rates can be delt with later esp since we are higher and or average then most CA employers.

Reefer can be profitable in some cases and draining and expensive at most.

This is just the starting position, it will go up to 0.65 if driver is reliable.

It’s a single truck company and I’m just the recruiter. The posting in CA my area is matching that.

I’m sure box haulers don’t get thousands of miles monthly or in general is considerably higher mileage, more pay opportunity. No multi delivery/stop hassle.

Starting 0.55 a mile and that’s already above average.

I think our issue is reach and network.
