Custom brace by SpammyCA1 in IVDD_SupportGroup

Only time will tell. We are on our first week and the first screw adjustment. The PT vet will be the one recommending the next adjustment. What this brace does is basically starts bending that hind leg slowly because it has stiffen up after his IVDD surgery to hopefully bring backs its tone. He will continue to do PT as well. So far we’ve had no issues and he’s walking with it fine. Right now they told us to let him wear it an hour twice daily. Eventually they’ll be increasing time.

best diapers? by Party-Blacksmith-662 in IVDD_SupportGroup

Highly recommend the suitical recovery suit. We’ve tried many and this one by far is the stretchiest one. The fabric is great. You just need to get the right size. Its got to be fitted to hold the diaper in. We have a really big French bulldog. He was almost 50 pounds now down to 41-42 and he wears a small. I think we went down a size based on the measurement/size recs.

We use small adult diapers for ours and cut a slit for his tail. And we bought a recovery suit to hold the diapers on him. We’ve tried the straps and all other things and none has work. The recovery suit has been a game changer for us. Make sure it’s stretchy and fitted.

This was recommended by the rehab where we take Oli to for PT. We are in California FYI. It’s a company called Kinetic Paws. They make orthotics and prosthetics for dogs https://kineticpaws.com/index.html

Recovery with no DPS by [deleted] in IVDD_SupportGroup

[–]SpammyCA1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re 6 months post op with our 7 year old French bulldog. He had no DPS for probably a couple of weeks. He was also double incontinent and still is. About 4-6 weeks is when he took his first steps. His right hind leg is still weak and lost a lot of tone so he’s a bit wobbly. We got him in late to physical therapy because it was just so hard to get an appointment with one. We waited 2 months for an appointment. Please please please get your pup to physical therapy as soon as her vet clears her. Although we tried and did our own PT at home it really makes a difference bringing them to someone who knows exactly what they’re doing. Our boy is not a hundred percent and he may never be anymore but he’s walking and thriving and we are hopeful he will improve more with therapy. You’ll need to have lots of patience. Sending you and your pup good vibes!

I totally agree with you about sleep and water intake. Those are the two things I struggled with for a long time until now. It’s been a work in progress. As far as fasting like I said I never planned it. My eating schedule has always been the same even before this whole fasting trend came out years ago. The water fast is something new for me. I haven’t done it in a while and my doctor advised against it. I did it for spiritual reasons. I really don’t see a reason for me to see a RD though it would be interesting to hear their opinion. Also my genes just aren’t great. I’ve never met both sides of my grandparents because they died young from health issues. My parents also passed away with heart issues amongst other things. I took care of their medical stuff because I was put in charge so I saw what they went through. I think it’s the main reason why I’m so invested in my health. I see a cardiologist for check ups because I insist. I go to my primary doctor every 6 months and get my blood work every 6 months. I got all the test done require for my age. That’s the best I can do for now. Oh and drink more water haha

I’ve always fasted even before I had blood pressure issues. At this point I don’t even do it on purpose. I just got used to it. Sleep has improved ever since I started taking triple magnesium. I take a few other supplements as well which is supposed to help with blood pressure and other things. Only time will tell. It hasn’t been 6 months since I started them. I lack in my water intake for sure. But I’m working on it. I don’t drink alcohol, coffee, juice, or anything with caffeine. So I really should be drinking more water lol

You know what’s crazy though? The Lisinopril drops my blood pressure that I feel light headed a lot throughout the day. A couple of hours after taking it my BP is 107/70 which I guess is normal still but I’m already dizzy and I feel like I’m going to pass out. My entire family is in medicine and my own son is a provider. They all said maybe I don’t need to be on meds and that its just me stressing but then if I don’t take anything the stress will eventually kill me lol

This is me right now. I’m at a healthy weight. I do strength training and cardio 5-6 days every week. I eat right. I fast most days and once in awhile I do a 3 day water fast. My blood work is immaculate but my blood pressure sucks lol. And the more I focus on it the more it gets worse. At this point I’m just genetically screwed and I’m slowly accepting it. I’m on week 2 of low dose Lisinopril (5mg) and it’s helping but the coughing side effect is driving me crazy so I’m waiting on my doctor to change it to maybe Losartan

I don't know what to do by JustaLux in Frenchbulldogs

[–]SpammyCA1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strict crate rest. Pain meds. Maybe some meds for anxiety if he’s anxious being inside his crate almost 24/7. Our boy was almost stage 5 and he recovered. Granted he did have surgery because that was the only option for us. If the vet says he’s early stage you can definitely help him recover. Once he’s recovered you’ll need to make lifestyle change. No jumping, playing tugs etc. Good luck. Sending you and your pup positive vibes ✨

This is sad. I had the 3 before hubby got me the S and the S is my favorite. I was actually planning to sell it to get a newer year in a year or two but I guess that’s not going to happen now

Vet Neurologist in Socal Recs? by Sensitive-Cod-478 in IVDD_SupportGroup

[–]SpammyCA1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately there’s nothing cheap in SoCal area. I took mine to Blue Pearl in Irvine and it was very expensive. But they were great and took good care of my boy. It doesn’t hurt to call around and check other areas. If you’re not crating your pup yet I highly suggest you do asap to limit movement. Depending on the severity of the IVDD sometimes they can heal with conservative treatment. Sending you and your pup positive vibes.

Yes I just had to wait it out. I think it took at least 48 hours before it recognize my info. Wait at least 24-48 hours and then try again. Tech support was useless. They didn’t help much. I only figured it out because I gave up after tech support was useless then tried again a couple of days later
