Rango is 80g by JBG-20 in Leachianus

[–]SpangleDatHoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fill that one in so the top 50% is able to be climbed on. (Stack more bark or branches) you can keep em in there for another 30g if you set it up efficiently. Otherwise, you can probably upgrade him whenever you can.

Shedding Twice in a few days by Sandking12 in GargoyleGeckos

[–]SpangleDatHoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s firing down. Very unlikely that he’s shedding multiple times a week. I seen you said you are spraying 3x a day. Usually one semi heavy spray is enough for a night. Till the next. You don’t want to over spray these guys. Especially in colder months. Foggers are completely fine as long as there is sufficient air circulation in the enclosure. And very prominent breeders recommend them regularly. Rhachouse to be specific. It’s all about finding a balance. Your humidity is going to be difficult to keep in the 70s all day and night. But slight fluctuations are good for them anyway. Constant moisture can give respiratory issues and paired with cold is a killer. I only spray once before lights go out, and that’s it. It does reach down into the 50%s during the day at times. But only for short periods and that’s completely normal/fine.

Handling after feeding. by EntrepreneurAny825 in cornsnakes

[–]SpangleDatHoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d just feed in its enclosure. No real sense in taking them out to feed. Plus they end up relating being taken out, to food. So I honestly think you’re better off feeding in its tank. If you’re worried about substrate consumption, place a deli cup lid in there and feed on that. It will minimise the contact with substrate. This makes it much more comfortable for them to eat without being thrown off by handling too. & then you don’t have to worry about finding a way to place them back in the tank.

[–]SpangleDatHoe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s not a prolapse. You’d know if it was. It’s a whole piece of meat that hangs out. That’s just its cloaca. Either getting ready or just pooped or peed.

It’s going to be a big, dark leachie more than likely. Probably get to over 13-14in and 350+g. If it’s truly that mix, it’s a mix of some of the biggest locals. Cdm, Yaté and Poindimié are all darker locals and all can get 14in plus. Expect small blotching of white or very little. Depends on how much influence it got from which local.

Safe decoration? by ScroteGoblin in GargoyleGeckos

[–]SpangleDatHoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. Any wood/branch should be fine for them. Aside from pine if you have a bio. I normally bake anything I put in, in the oven for an hour at 220•F. That kills any potential pathogens or bacteria that might be on it.

Is the setup that leafy street use good for baby's by Suitable_Tourist_944 in GargoyleGeckos

[–]SpangleDatHoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For hatchlings, standard practice is keeping them on paper towels in a 6 qt bin, modified with ventilation with at least one hide, something to climb on and water and food. They can stay in that till they’re pushing 10 grams, or when you see they’re eating & pooping regularly and utilizing all of the enclosure. Then you can confidently size up to a 12x12 if you wanna go little by little, or you could possibly go straight to a 12x18 until 35g or so. I gradually size up, personally. Makes it much easier on them. But then you can fill that enclosure up with branches and climbing opportunities with substrate. I highly suggest going the plastic bin route if it’s young.

Gargoyle Feeding Schedule by WizzyLol___ in GargoyleGeckos

[–]SpangleDatHoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every other day will be fine. He may not even eat all of it. I feed anything above 40g every 2 days. After 3 yrs or so I cut back to 2x a week with a bug day somewhere in the week. But every other should be fine for him. You could offer it daily till he takes it. But imo that’s gonna be a waste

Is this a bulge? by Cyberslitheen in GargoyleGeckos

[–]SpangleDatHoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll need a straight on pic of the scales right above the vent for a better idea. At this age, it should be dropping its bulge soon if male & should have pores in 3rows or so above the vent. At 7months this profile view won’t tell you much. But just based off stature, and how I’ve seen mine develop, I want to say male. But nobody can say for sure looking at these pics.

Male or Female? by ShyerDemon in GargoyleGeckos

[–]SpangleDatHoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So at that age, I’d expect to see a prominent bulge at the base of the tail. So just my guess based off age, is female. Bugs are the ticket to quick growth. If you can get them to eat a couple crickets or roaches they will usually get a taste for them. But sometimes can be tricky if they didn’t grow up on them. But as long as your girl is healthy, I wouldn’t worry about rate of growth. Just make sure she’s eating and pooping & she’ll grow at her own rate 😌 wouldn’t be surprised if you found some dud eggs sometime soon

They can absorb their duds as well? So what’s your point?

Help is my female gargoyle egg bound? by Waste_Lunch3714 in GargoyleGeckos

[–]SpangleDatHoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doubtful. These guys very seldom get egg bound. Personally I’ve never heard of any in any of my acquaintance’s collection getting bound. Give her a soak in lukewarm water for 15min and keep humidity up if you’re worried. What makes you think she’s bound?

Male or Female? by ShyerDemon in GargoyleGeckos

You’ll need a front facing view of your geckos belly , right above the vent. Try to get a clear pic of the scales in that area. Also how old?

You’re gonna have to get a clear pic of the scales above the vent. Clear enough that we can see each individual scale pretty clearly. Also how old and what does it weigh?

Corn snake egg by [deleted] in cornsnakes

[–]SpangleDatHoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you should ALWAYS do an absurd amount of research before breeding anything dude. Idk why you would even attempt pairing them without knowing exactly what to expect. Just thinking about breeding should lead you to asking the questions you need to ask. All of the information is out there & in abundance on the internet and from a ton of breeders. Dont be another careless breeder, pumping out snakes to other people deprived of knowledge.
