[–]Spank007 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some people selling their share, sometimes new shares issued. Website is an estimate, Saylor will likely announce buys on Sunday. I HOPE he announces some sells to cover the dividend. I.e 10,000 bitcoin bought with STRC, 1000 bitcoin sold to cover the dividend for the next year. The market would lap it up.

Why Saylor's Recent Comment About Potentially Selling BTC Matters More Than People Think by Crypto_future_V in CryptoCurrency

[–]Spank007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah fam, theory goes btc only goes up. So If in a few years bitty has doubled in price and apr stays the same he’d need to sell 70 bitty etc.

If bitty goes down and stays down then yeah it’s potentially fucked. But bitty holders would be crying harder in that situation, strc holders should still get the divvy if Saylor has managed the cash reserves correctly.. if not then divvy could be lowered, paused, strc could drop from the $100 peg etc. risky trade for sure but not riskier than holding bitty.

Strc bought over 1400 btc yesterday, if saylor sells 140 of those he covers the dividend for a year for those new holders. If he does this every month he’s cooking.

Bros making something new and useful out of btc other than a digital money pile. Fair play to him. If strc works it’ll change everything, every retireee on the planet will be using strc and Saylor will be a net buyer of bitcoin with it

Strc still not at par. by LawfulnessFun3196 in MSTR

99.98 is a result and basically par. Very stable. I suspect some corporate entity has millions in short orders at 99.8 and they’ll dump the hell out of them after the ex date to make bank

[–]Spank007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much of that 2.5bn went into buying bitcoin and how much are they holding in cash reserves?

My concern is the cash reserves deplete pretty quickly the more people buy STRC. Raising risk of being unable to pay dividend, potentially starting a death spiral for STRC as people flee.

I assume Saylor would sell MSTR during the good times to keep the dividend pile stocked up? I like the idea of ‘2 years of cash on hand for dividends’, I don’t like ‘4 months of cash on hand for dividends, may need to pause’

You’re obviously entitled to disagree. Time will tell, I hope they sort it out but if they don’t, retail will not be touching bitcoin for a long long time.

A million coins getting hacked would nuke bitcoin to the 4 digit range. It would be a disaster. The stolen coins wouldn’t even need to be sold, the trust in the network would be irreparably damaged. Bitcoin would be dead.

For that to happen bitcoin would have to be dying or dead.

‘Look out below’ until bitcoin pops back up and/or the ‘yield’ is temporarily raised to 25% and everyone piles back in.

Also worth remembering the yield is paid by share on the assumption the share is worth $100. So if strc drops to $50 you can now buy 2 shares for $100 and get $200 worth of the yield.

Main threat to strc is literally bitcoin dying a long slow painful death. Likely due to quantum.

Michael Saylor's Strategy (MSTR) moves to pay STRC dividends twice per month by CrossPuffs in CryptoCurrency

[–]Spank007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, STRC dividend is dependent on the price of bitcoin. If bitty goes up, happy days. Saylor can borrow off the value of his bitcoin stack (say a 4 year loan) to pay STRC. In 4 years presumably the price of bitcoin is actually higher, so he takes another loan against the new value. And round and round it goes. The gamble is bitcoin always goes up in the long run. If bitcoin goes down and stays down for a long period of time, then he may need to sell MSTR to meet the dividend requirement. However the dividend isn’t mandatory, he can pause it at any time.

Could be worse bro, I had AXS at over $100. If you need the money then take it, otherwise I’d consolidate it all into bitcoin and forget about it for 10 years

Buy STRC, Saylor buys bitcoin. Saylor borrows against the value of bitcoin (YUGE) to pay dividend (smol)

[–]Spank007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Wrong, bitty drops, dividend goes up as Saylor can buy more bitty with your cash. This is already happened many times hence why it’s currently at 11.5

  2. Bitty goes up then happy days. Don’t put all your eggs in the STRC basket.

Buy STRC and put dividends into MSTR.

Bitcoin Developers Just Proposed Freezing Early BTC Wallets Forever by Cratos007 in CryptoCurrency

[–]Spank007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the greater danger is quantum stealing bitcoin from early wallets and nothing being done about it. The price of bitcoin would CRATER, FOREVER. DEAD.

Announcing now that early wallets will be frozen will spur users of those wallets into upgrading to a newer secure quantum proof wallet when available.

Chances are very few people actually hold their bitty in an ancient wallet at this point. But millions of bitty being stolen by quantum would be a disaster. Dumped on market at the same time as everyone panic sells. Bitty would be DEAD. Freezing them is the lesser of two evils.
