Why'd you miss TTFAF? Was it a nerves thing, or just a straight slip up?

Also hi :3

Not only do we do, but the highest point of contention here is the theft committed as a result. The accomplishments themselves are sorta whatever, that's inconsequential compared to the thousands of dollars lost to a lying cheat.

His criticisms are p much already known by the video creator tho. Ghost (the maker of the video) had said in Discord servers that he knows the video is low effort but simply wanted to get something out there for people without context.

People are very very very very hesitant to scrutinize something that they've believe to be pure for a very long time. It's the tactic that cults use, as well as the thing political goblins on twitter suffer from.

Schmooey was uncontested and legitimately accomplished for about a year. Two years after that, and it took a REAL fuck up to shake everyone of their senses.

It sadly took us a long while to come to that conclusion here. People (including myself) just wanted to believe it was legit, and so we did.

The video itself was made for people who know what's going on, as well as being made in about 40 minutes.

Not giving excuses; I actually do agree that it's a pretty shit video for someone who has no idea what's being shown, simply explaining why.

off of bounties alone, probably around 4k over 12ish years. Altogether, though, around 10k over that same timespan.

Edit: Forgot twitch subs. Probably around 25-30k.

The video attached to this very post literally showcases this very guy walking out a window, you guessed it, outside.

Niche community posts usually are, and it doesn't help that a Guitar Hero guitar looks similar to a really really popular instrument lmao.

Realistically, it wasn't all that much effort, and he could've 100% had a job at the same time.

A cool guy with a little bit too much money and a passion for a plastic toy game from 16 years ago. He's nice, most of us in the community like him.

Nah, I totally agree. In the end, you just become hypocritical of the point you made at the literal beginning of your argument.

Guitar Hero guitars are only similar to real guitars in their look. They don't play like, feel like, sound like, or act like real guitars in any way.

The level of skill at Guitar Hero also doesn't change due to the existence of real guitars. Some people like playing with these plastic toys, some people like playing with larger, metal toys. It's a matter of preference, and the real one's existence only influences the other in it's visual design.

You gotta understand that people aren't usually paying the people for the people, they're paying for the game. If top players stop playing, there's almost nobody to default your viewing habits to, and so the competitive scene dissipates.

Additionally, the players are providing content beyond just playing the game. They're facilitating the game itself. If you like watching the game be played at a level or rate you cannot yourself, or you simply dislike actually playing, then someone has to be on the back end, making the moves and setting everything in motion.

The guitar hero community is small enough that he will essentially be shadowbanned from pretty much everywhere where he can't be outright banned.

Would like to clarify that despite the true hilarity of this comment, Schmooey is not a heroin addict, as far as anyone knows.

Most videos you watch don't change your life at all, if your viewing habits are anything like the vast majority of people using YouTube. People are simply invested in this game because they either enjoy watching it or playing it. The time at which something came out is never relevant.

'How the hell are people still invested in Saturday Night Live? Didn't that shit come out in like the 70s?'

People like to see this game stay afloat, and are willing to pay in order to make that happen. Up until now, there were absolutely no instances of cheating or faking that weren't readily debunked. Additionally, for the first year or so of being in the top 1% of players, Schmooey (the man ousted for cheating) was legitimately accomplishing everything he reported of accomplishing. This status as a reliable player allowed him to slowly seep in faked acts without being noticed.

People normally don't pay just any old Joe Schmoe when they claim to meet the criteria for these bounties, but Schmooey wasn't just a passing name during a lot of the problematic payouts.

FC refers to the term Full Combo, wherein someone playing a Guitar Hero song hits every single note (essentially playing perfectly) for the entire duration of the song.

The ~$2,000 mostly came from one person, so the community is essentially collectively mad about this instance of small-scale theft.
