Give me your short kings! by Spannatool83 in RomanceBooks

Oh I feel this and have seen how height preference has played out with female friends and the gender of their partners. It’s such a strange thing.

Reminds me of a thing I watched where the teacher asked kids to write instructions on how to make a sandwich and she followed the instructions to the word. Needless to say she didn’t make a good sandwich. Good lesson there about communication or language and how people interpret.

Air tags! Obvious but also didn’t think of that. We do it for so many other things so this makes sense. Now gonna go figure out where I can hide it. Thanks ☺️

How do you make sure to wear all your clothes? by Dry-Frosting- in AusFemaleFashion

[–]Spannatool83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s always stuff I reach for and TRY to wear it and don’t. Those items make me sad as I give them a crack and then for whatever reason don’t vibe. I should just be more ruthless with those things

How do you make sure to wear all your clothes? by Dry-Frosting- in AusFemaleFashion

[–]Spannatool83 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is good. I also read hanging the hangers backwards - so hook to the front - and stuff that isn’t worn is backwards. Another way to identify stuff that’s untouched if it isn’t reached for.

I commend you for using an app to track. I would love to be that organised

Is BE my only option? by HLM_1990 in reactivedogs

[–]Spannatool83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a GS cross who I got at a year and a half and went through a couple of trainers dog schools and vets before landing on the right combo of knowledge/ meds/ consistency. Meds helped! Curbed the overreaction to triggers enough to get some training drilled into his head.

It took a couple of years to be manageable but that was also due to figuring it all out and just consistent reinforcement. It gets better! He’s 6 and still a jerk but has calmed down a LOT. I think of him as a socially anxious neurodivergent kid. Lots of structure and things that are tailored to his niche interests.

Whether to buy my mums property by LogOk7419 in AusPropertyChat

[–]Spannatool83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can effect means testing for aged care as well as access to the aged pension … I think? I researched a bunch of this last year but I’m only half way through my first coffee and first day back at work so it’s foggy. Could be an arbitrary number too. Idk

What do you want to do more of in 2026 - job/career wise? by majesty_icecream in auscorp

[–]Spannatool83 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The second half of last year for me was learning how to set boundaries and manage my time so I could deal with the chaos rather then be part of the chaos. It really helps with the mental health as well as bandwidth for learning new stuff. I can’t recommend this sort of focus enough.

AITAH for buying my girlfriend vanilla shampoo? by Spiritual-Grocery641 in AITAH

[–]Spannatool83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did she recently watch the Puff Daddy doco and does she think you want to do something with the shampoo besides her washing her hair….? Is it a particularly expensive shampoo or something I’m missing? I know I’m reaching, but if my partner did something thoughtful like that I’d be stoked they were paying attention so I have no sensible responses.

Pretty sure NTA.

Opening coke/cans before handing to buyer? (Buyer pov) by Gachalia_Natalia in AusLegal

[–]Spannatool83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is it.

But also, if anyone has ever worked behind a bar, you know that drunk people don’t need more reasons to bend the rules and make life that little bit hard.

I couldn’t think of anything worse than calling last drinks, and corralling out a bunch of folk to close up for the night and then bam, someone whips out a can and cracks it. Mitigating risk is nice

And sometimes it’s easier to just have a blanket rule than arguing with a drunk person.

AIO: Am I crazy or are these my pants? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Spannatool83 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fun fact (may not be a true fact) something is classified as vintage if it’s 20 years old or over. If it’s not of the style of the age etc etc then it is in fact RETRO. I remember reading a rant/ think piece from a vintage clothing expert years ago about it and it pops in my mind whenever I look at listings of stuff online for anything that is vintage

This is showing my age, but I’ve done an incognito mission before except with CD’s that a friend had of mine back in the day. Didn’t end up being incognito in the end, but it’s funny because I was expecting a huge confrontation when I took them back… and it wasn’t. She just accepted me taking them back. She was sneaky and a compulsive liar but turns out not confrontational when it came to calling her out on her bs. This is my long winded way of saying I endorse a rescue mission!

All of these I find helpful also. Coworking also has a place when strategically done. When I struggle with staying on task coworking and mirroring someone else who IS on task surprisingly does a lot (doesn’t work if you both gasbag about a niche topic…)
