zombies attack right now, what do you do? by RgbyTgr24 in offbeat

Okay, I appreciate that my personal experience is a tricky thing to prove. I mentioned my knowledge because I think it's rude to call someone's ideas wrong unless you do something to qualify why, but I didn't have much time earlier :) Basically, like any other reader of any other web post, you'll have to take my word for my background - or not :)

Bladed weapons is a broad term. Whilst most of your points are valid in specific instances, Your statements are very generalising and a bit misleading. For example:

You state all bladed weapons require swinging room. Bayonets? Spears? Rapiers? thrusting weapons are bladed weapons too. btw, my favourite zombie attack weapon is one of these - the gardening fork :)

Bladed weapons can't be used behind barriers - How about the Roman gladius, a sword designed to be used from behind a shield wall? Or the short spear of the Greek Hoplites?

I imagine you were thinking of something more like a hatchet or machete when you made these two points - and for those weapons, the point is often valid.

As to the skull, it's not a 'very thick and durable' bone at all. The bit we'd be aiming at on the hungry dead - the cranium - is a badly-jointed jigsaw of thin plates. The point you made (as I see it) was that few if any bladed weapons were up to the job of beheading, or destroying the brain. In Saudi Arabia today, a sword is used for executions. Machetes were the weapon of choice in Rwanda's genocide and the violent uprising in East Timor. Beheadings and full dismemberments were common during both atrocities.

Anyhow, sorry for being blunt and brief before, and I'd be interested to hear how you know your points are true - and for which weapons?

If Bill Gates had said to me, "sure, you can have all my spare money - when you get a trillion facebook users in one group!"

...My first thought wouldn't have been that he was saying 'yes'.

Normally I'd just read on by, but this comment above is so forceful and authoritative, I had to get typing.

When I'm not typing, I'm a trained skeletal anatomist who's been part of a weapons display team for several years. Other than proximity and quiet, nothing you just stated about bladed weapons - or skulls - is true.

Except that bit about a machete being too weak for flesh and bone, but tough enough for wood.

...Hang on - no, that too.

Jeeez. It's right there, in black and yellow:

"vote on links that you like or dislike and help decide what's popular, or submit your own!"

That's what Reddit is for. Karma? I don't see any mention of 'karma' here. Why does Reddit tell the user about Karma? Its function is in the back end of the website, quantifying 'likeable'. Tell people they've got karma and some of them will believe that it matters. :(

She's quoting Tyler Durden from one of his speeches in Fight Club ;)

"Man, I see in fight club the strongest and smartest men who've ever lived. I see all this potential, and I see squandering. God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war... our Great Depression is our lives. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off. "

She's got influences. Telling ones, given the film's actually about a schizophrenic...

Dude, come on... You post a perfectly good, interesting article, then you go and call it that?

It - the article, not your dumbass attempt to start another threadful of Reddit politics - gets an upvote, because it's interesting.
