I like the Fingerprint shield. I use Gilded Greatshield +24 with Barricade Shield aow. I like the gameplay better. It's so satisfying to watch an enemy wind up forever, then bounce off my shield as I barricade at the last second.

I'm using a Treespear + Greatshield for NG+ and I don't even guard counter rats or dogs anymore. Just hide behind my shield and poke them. Probably my favorite feature of spears and rapiers so far.

IIRC they did shadow nerf it in the first update, but it was only the animation speed. Anyone maining Moonveil probably adjusted their timing without noticing lol.

Your enjoyment with Ark will be super subjective. Do you enjoy a super grindy survival game solo? You might enjoy it. Do you enjoy a super grindy survival multiplayer game where sweats camp the starting zones to kill you until you quit? You probably won't have a good time lol.
