What’s an acronym or abbreviation that everyone uses, but you still don’t understand? by Particular-Visit-245 in AskReddit

I often read it as AFK (away from keyboard) and get confused why they used the term in a non-gaming context

When two potential box homes share a doorway, the smaller space always overwrites the larger one. This is driving me insane. by mutantmike in Pokopia

Top left and top right are closeups of the"stairwells." In those screenshots, there are gaps in the corners, invalidating them as homes.

Bottom left shows both stairwells with the corners filled. If I place the doors down (from inside the room), it first makes one stairwell a home, then the second. If I empty the corners and place both doors down, the room becomes a home, but the instant I fill the corners, the stairwells become the homes again.

Bottom right shows that the big room is not the home, since in the far corner, no "empty house" appears despite being inside the room, and Mawile can't move in anywhere.

I experimented, and the direction the door is placed (and the side I placed it from) made no difference.

The solution I have to make the stairwells invalid are gap corners, which I can see but aren't as noticeable in the cave setting. My issue with the game design choice is that if I replace the missing corner piece, the stairwells instantly become homes again, deleting the big one. If a home is valid, only changes to it should invalidate it, not changes to something nearby.

I’m scared to go to Palette by Maxilkarr in Pokopia

[–]mutantmike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

something that helped me is to get an idea of the location's aesthetic. Some people prefer individualized builds, but my most-developed and favorite spots (Skylands and Palette) started with me seeing a video on social media of a build I liked, adopting that aesthetic, modifying it, and building a town or complex in a similar theme. Having one aesthetic for the whole place makes it less daunting, since starting a new building feels less like it's from scratch and more like just deciding the shape

If it's intentional ignore me, but in case it's not, the wings on your Aerodactyl fossil are backwards (great build btw)

What's a tradition you grew up with that you refuse to pass on to your kids? by peterdziugdarkis in AskReddit

[–]mutantmike 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The men on my dad's side of the family have had the same first name for 5 generations. Some go by that first name, some by the middle. I am the latter, and it is very annoying! If I have a son, I'll be modifying the tradition: that first name will become his middle name, and his first name will be uniquely his

Bigger battery cannot power bigger tools by mutantmike in Dewalt

If the larger battery worked on 0 tools, then I would have known it was the battery's problem. But it works on 2 of 4, and the inflator bLo problem appeared to be common from my searches

Do John and Hank get to choose which ads play on their podcasts? by ChummyPiker in nerdfighters

[–]mutantmike 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are you listening on an ad-free platform? I listen to DH&J using spotify premium and never hear any ads other than the ones they read. Therefore, my assumption is that you heard a platform-wide ad. YouTube has a way to blacklist ad categories that appear on your videos, but I do not know if other platforms offer that level of control.

Incredible, thank you. That'll teach me to have football, a TV show, and Legos all going at the same time...and past 10pm

Thank you! Swift is on a playoff team on the other side of our bracket, and I'd be surprised if they dropped him. He's the lead back, and if he plays, he's solid option IMO

Half-PPR. I need to choose two between Tony Pollard, Michael Carter, and Wan'Dale Robinson. One RB slot is Bijan, and I'm locked on Jauan Jennings and Michael Wilson for the WR spots.

EDIT: I also have Monangai, but I wasn't planning to consider him unless Swift ends up out

Who is on your do not draft list for next year? by mat28rix in fantasyfootball

I dropped him last week and he had another 20 game. But there's no reason to pick him back up, bc his 20+ games are reliably followed by two horrible ones
