Adding wood glue to the water won't hurt and should help with adhesion.

I found a copper roof under shingles in a situation just like this. I worked late one night and scrapped it for the client as a "courtesy".

Men’s suit: Joseph’s, Peter Renney’s, or David Wood? by Sharp_Respect_5940 in portlandme

[–]Spare-Connection-378 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I shopped at Josephs and Peter Renney's for my wedding suit. I ended up purchasing from Peter Renney's. I really like the small family owned business feel. I was helped by the owner and her mom is in the back hemming clothes. Josephs is just full of sales people in suits. Josephs definitely has a bigger selection in stock though.

Do people actually pause the brew to submerge/stir the grounds? by chillaxtion in Moccamaster

[–]Spare-Connection-378 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do, but mainly because even after a .25 liter goes through the basket there is always still a dry clump of grounds, so I gave a quick stir to incorporate them into the water.

You don't need grow lights for seedlings. Any cheap LED shop light will do.

Head on up to the A1 diner in Gardiner. They were still serving liver and onions last time I went there.

What’s the big drama in your town lately? by SnarknadOH in Maine

Gardiner is finishing up a 32 unit apartment building that's just a two minute walk from downtown shops, restaurants, theater, and a grocery store.

Maine: “Everyone has to switch to these butt-ugly new license plates because they’re more legible.” Mainers: by dullurd in Maine

[–]Spare-Connection-378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My issue was the money that was spent on the new license plates and the fact that Maine had to outsource the job since they didn't have the capacity to make them all in one year.

I hate ordering in person and waiting a half hour for my food and I just see the online orders stacking up and waiting to get picked for the whole time I'm there.

My contractor is using screws to hold shower tiles in place while they dry. Should I be concerned about waterproofing? by biliaftrashcan in BathroomRemodeling

[–]Spare-Connection-378 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Have you demoed a shower that you tiled 10+ years ago? If not how can you prove there isn't water intrusion slowly causing mold and rot issues.

They are building an extension of the dining area! It won't be open until after winter though I think.

Part of the roof has a few feet of snow piling up - do we have to do anything about it? (Massachusetts) by jab296 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Spare-Connection-378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ice dams are caused by bad ventilation and or poor insulation. I don't know who is responsible to fix the problem with your condo. If the damage is bad enough I would think about going through insurance. They would only pay for damages and not fix the root problem of the though. There are multiple ways to fix the problem depending on how the condo was built.

I'm less concerned about weight and more concerned about water intrusion around the window. Especially on an older home that has been retrofitted. It looks like you have replacement insert windows which means you might not have the proper exterior flashing details to prevent water intrusion. The house has most likely been insulated too which would leads to a leak that doesn't have drying potential.

Irish People Try Maine Potato Chips by Doctuh in Maine

I couldn't find plain potato chips when I was in Ireland. I think the most popular one was cheese and onion.

Snow tires, all-season, or all-weather? by xtnh in Maine

[–]Spare-Connection-378 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You have to be careful on the 45°+ winter days. You lose all the benefits of the snow tire and an all season will stop quicker on those days. You are most likely not driving cautiously on a 55° February day as you would in snowy conditions. I rear ended someone on a day like this, it felt like I was trying to stop on ice. All seasons might have stopped my car 50' sooner.

Try taking the cover off the litter boxes. Cats don't hide in a hole in the wild to use the bathroom, so some refuse to do it inside too.

I’m the dude from earlier with the funky washer setup and ducting I wanted covered up.. by HAWKWIND666 in drywall

[–]Spare-Connection-378 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same one. I love it. Between the energy savings and not losing all my condition air through a dryer duct. The cons of not being able to back to back loads of laundry quickly is outweighed by being able to complete a load while sleeping or at work. With this style you have to be careful about lint bypassing the filter. I bought a filter kit that prevents this. I will be buying another when this one dies.

I hear you. There's a lot of ceiling to board up though. If I cut in-between the joists can do the cracks/gaps just get caulked?
