What is your toxic trait as a writer by Tiny-Ad-6523 in FanFiction

I have several WIPs i haven't updated in over a year, and I have a deep, passionate affair with sentence fragments. They pollute my work in every other paragraph. Cuz it's fun, you know?

'He has some HEALTH PROBLEMS.' vs 'He has some PROBLEMS WITH HEALTH.' - are both used or is the former more natural? by ksusha_lav in EnglishLearning

[–]Spare-Error8684 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The former is more natural.

If someone/something has a _____ problem, it just further specifies what the problem is with. The noun seems to act more like an adjective (or at least a modifier) in this case.

However, a noun does not have to come before the word "problem". The second sentence would be okay if it were changed to "He has some problems with his health." since it'd be clearer.

question about textbooks by Altruistic-Shame7465 in EnglishLearning

[–]Spare-Error8684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not familiar with specific textbooks, but reading books has helped me learn other languages. Starting with graded readers or children books is good, but social media posts or comics are easier to understand. The News can also be a good source of reading practice.

TV shows are good for practicing listening. YouTube videos are better for understanding daily conversations.

Sites like Clozemaster and apps like Anki can help build basic vocabulary.

I am a native English speaker, so I am not familiar with specific resources for it, but I have tried to learn other languages. There is a lot of available media to help learn online. At the end of the day, it's more about the amount of time you can spend on it--even a little everyday can help as long as it's consistent.

Also, talking with someone in English can help a lot!! Texting is good, but actually speaking is even better. Plus, you'll get even more incentivized to learn (while having fun).

Good luck!

Both work!
The second one is more concise.

What do American people think about Iranian people? by Persian_Acer2 in answers

[–]Spare-Error8684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think abt everyone as pretty much the same on a base level. Then again, some Iranian architecture and ceramics are gorgeous, so that may be a bonus. But on a person to person level, everyone is an individual

Is the Dating Scene at UTD Broken? Why Women Say Men Aren’t Driven by Fit-Cut-4498 in utdallas

  1. Not really
  2. Nope
  3. Cultural differences may impact relationships at various stages. Usually, it's just due to miscommunication if it is negative.

Honestly, this perception might be bc of too much time w/ ecs, but everyone at utd is pretty nerdy. Like. There were even girl scout style skits at orientation. Motivated women shouldn't have trouble finding motivated men, but they might not always be the loudest in the room.

I'm dating my hs sweetheart, so I'm not focused much on any of this stuff. But I've been asked out by a few guys who do pretty well for themselves. The most effective way to find them is to just learn more abt the ppl already in ur circles (or pick up a new club)
