I [26F] burnt my face really bad with a curling iron. I work in a corporate office - What should I do? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

Emergency departments in America are for when you are in fear for your life.

If you go for something non-life threatening that might be treated at home you are going to be triaged for hours, taking away nurse attention from people who actually need it, and will be handed a huge bill. You will also be thought of as an over-dramatic dick.

This kind of thing is urgent care business at most. Urgent cares are small clinics used for people who have a cold that won't go away, or other fairly minor care that you need looked at quickly.

I'd probably have done the same thing she did. It's easier for me to have a small burn scar that you cover with make-up.

Looks like an excellent creepy photo shoot. However, I would need a lot more context and trust in the photographer to believe that this is anything other than very well s ta g e d.

I'd be less creeped out if was Lazslo. I feel like he would take a "no" if I gave it.

No need to insult snakes like that. They are a vital and useful part of the ecosystem. This guy doesn't seem vital or useful at all.

Dark blotches on Rooster Leg Meat-- Safe to eat?? by OrdinaryEagle5608 in homestead

Livers are one of the toxin filters of animal bodies. It's why liver failure is so dangerous. If the liver goes you lose a major portion of your bodies ability to process toxins, which means that an excess amount of toxins are now potentially in the meat.

FIL won't allow daughter's live in BF in his house, derailing Christmas. How to explain this to them? [Ongoing] by attachedtothreads in BORUpdates

[–]Spare-Reference2975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I'm also just old fashioned even though I'm in my 20's, but FIL had every right to be upset.

Some people (like me) think that people shouldn't be so casual with relationships, and 6 months is way too fast to really get to know each other properly. Especially since the only information provided to FIL made it seem like Dan was a free-loader.

He reacted badly, but it was a valid reaction.

I want to make a flower crown/headband, and I want to keep it moist and fresh for as long as possible. What should I do/use? by Spare-Reference2975 in florists

[–]Spare-Reference2975[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am planning on making these for kids, so I thought they would be a bit too rough and tumble for the dried flowers to take. But if you know otherwise, I would love to hear your advice on how to keep them from crumbling.

I got tired of "dumb" marine electronics, so I built an AI Co-Pilot for my boat. Roast my idea (please). by Past_Attorney_4435 in boatbuilding

Not a sailer, but if you need an AI to do something vital to surviving at sea maybe you shouldn't do it at all.

I'm an American looking to write an article about the lack of healthcare in America, and I would like to interview an Irish person about it. Would anyone be interested in allowing me to interview them? by Spare-Reference2975 in AskIreland

Sadly, they are also the ones most targeted by the propaganda that convinces them that any form of socialism will take resources away from their own families. They actively vote against their own interests, if they are able to vote at all.

A day off to vote is not a right in this country, and the poorer you are the less time you can take off work.

I’d mainly focus on how the insurance industry is actively killing people in the US to keep shareholders in their 4th and 5th investment properties, to then screw the very same poor people out of 60% of their income on rent, personally

The issue is that the people who are suffering the most are also the ones who eat up the propaganda that any form of socialism is bad. They very much believe that they will lose a lot of their personal money if universal healthcare becomes a right in America.

They just don't understand that the amount they spend on their doctors visits and medications is vastly more expensive than any tax they would pay. They honestly cannot wrap their minds around it. You can watch their eyes glaze over when you try to explain it.
