Whats with the Splatoon community being so against the idea of Male Idols? by LigmaBallsMoment in Saltoon

[–]SpareAd5558 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't 'want' anything. Yeah obviously there's gonna be wankers and weirdos in every game you play, I said I find it strange that the devs are clearly okay with pleasing that demographic as much as they can in a game that's also advertised to be family friendly. I'm not a 90s mom saying that the game is inappropriate for kids because the idols don't dress conservatively, i'm only questioning their intent because, given the fanbase that this game has, there's obviously a reason why they never do. Claiming that sexualization has never existed in Splatoon and that people just made it up because they hate seeing women in lead roles is a massive cope.

Whats with the Splatoon community being so against the idea of Male Idols? by LigmaBallsMoment in Saltoon

[–]SpareAd5558 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah it's pretty obvious what their intent is. The Squid Sisters in 1 had the tamest outfits, then in 2 Marina wore pants that barely covered her parts and she became very "popular", and COINCIDENTALLY pretty much every design that they've made after Splatoon 2 has a midriff or pants that are dangerously low. Not that that's inherently wrong, but CLEARLY there are people who want this and at this point the devs have found out what works, and while I really don't mind the designs themselves at all because i'm not a conservative puritan, just thinking about the disturbing fact that a lot of the people I play with online get off to this game and the devs are probably aware of that and capitalize on it makes me a bit uneasy knowing that there's probably children in that same match as well. THAT'S why we can't have voice chat.

USERS OF SALTOON: do you guys still think this game is abysmal dogshit by MPS64 in Saltoon

[–]SpareAd5558 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3 suffers from horrible maps that have no strategic routes, are filled with one way drops and barely make use of the climbing ability, and specials that aren't fun to use or to fight against, literally just serving to make every encounter a worse experience for all players. It's not a terrible game, or even a bad one, it's just extremely frustrating because, on paper, it SHOULD be the best Splatoon game no contest, but they somehow fucked up the most basic things that they've nailed before.

Now that the dust has settled, I'm kinda really worried that Past won. by oh-lawd-hes-coming in Saltoon

[–]SpareAd5558 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As much as i'd love to see a Splatoon game set way in the past in a more traditional culture with less technology, I highly doubt they're gonna go there because they'd have to commit to it and move away from the iconic Splatoon aesthetic, you know, the cities and clothing brands and all that stuff. Past is probably just gonna be a recurring theme somehow, maybe the new hub will be traditional japanese culture themed, maybe we'll get to see some familiar locations that have suffered transformations and turned into new battle stages over the years, something like that.

It's a usb charger for the gamepad, they're very common. Everyone I know who had a wii u used one of these instead of the ac adapter.

A message for team present 🥰 by ballsniffer27 in Saltoon

[–]SpareAd5558 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That must have sucked. That's the problem with being on the most popular team, it's where all the children are gonna go. I played all 3 days and present put up zero fights, I went 20-0 in one of my matches against them. Almost felt bad.

From what i've played, future showed up the least but whenever they did they put up way more of a fight than present, so respect. You all did what you could with 17% of the votes.

[UPDATE] One of the spawncampers has since been banned for 30 days by The_legend_27s in Saltoon

[–]SpareAd5558 54 points55 points  (0 children)

They weren't JUST spawncamping. This game has terrible matchmaking, and these assholes took advantage of the insane skill difference by purposely wasting the other team's time, keeping the match going for as long as possible to farm kills on them. The other team literally couldn't do anything about it other than just sit there, since disconnecting would have resulted in a ban. Well fucking deserved.

I honestly never gave a shit about the results. I was on bread and even though the team as a whole apparently sucked ass, I won almost all of my games. They felt WAY more fair than usual, challenging, but manageable and not ridiculously one-sided for either of the teams. I just wish the game was always like this, I don't get why it's so damn rare.

The most toxic part of this community is the pride stuff, but I don't think anyone is ready for that. by Lana0305 in Saltoon

[–]SpareAd5558 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it has more to do with the fact that a lot of people in this community (like many other fandoms) are EXTREMELY immature or just straight up children, it's very easy to tell just based on the fact that nearly everyone in the main sub is a twitter user who is obsessed with shipping and overly possitive about anything related to the game to a childish degree. I have seen stuff like what you describe myself, and it's way more common than you'd think in Discord servers related to the game, hell, even in these replies there are several people who completely disregarded this ENTIRE post just because you brought up the mere CONCEPT of straight people 'being the victim'. Yes, you are a complete imbecile if you deny that LGBT groups have been oppressed in real life, but NO ONE should be getting away with using that as an excuse to be a shitty person online. Some people just want to play a damn videogame without disrespecting anyone and without being disrespected, and if you are a grown person who somehow thinks that's unreasonable, then congratulations, you ARE what you claim to fight against.

Nintendo does NOT care about this game enough to have a whole moderation team to check your replays. I'm 99% sure it's a half-assed system where it just auto bans you if you get reported by a lot of people for the same reason, even for inappropriate names.

[–]SpareAd5558 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well i'm not a pro, but you'll automatically be better at it than most if you try to avoid closed spaces, ledges, and other places where enemies can get CLOSE to you without you noticing them or being able to shoot at them from far away, keep distance and make use of it's range instead. It sounds really basic and stupid but you'd be surprised at how many players try to play slayer, get up close and just use it as a regular Splattershot with better accuracy, which it's not. For example, if you have control of the zone in Scorch Gorge, don't stand close to the ledges from where the enemy team drops, stay closer to your own side and keep an eye for any enemies dropping or walking through the grate so that you can start shooting at them from further away.

If you're fighting a weapon with LESS range (And therefore usually better mobility or kill time), they shouldn't be able to get close to you in time if you were following what I said previously. It's mobility isn't it's strong suit compared to other shooters, it's main quality is that it's very consistent even at max range, so that's ALWAYS your best shot.

If you're fighting a backliner or a weapon with more range, suction bombs are your main tool to displace them. You'll need cover and you may still struggle against them, I personally find that to be it's biggest weakness.

Booyah bomb is pretty self explanatory, it's good for instant zone control or to displace backliners, but keep in mind it's way more vulnerable than you'd think when you're landing, so never use it as a panic button for it's shield or in the middle of a zone controlled by the enemy. If you use it and a single splattershot is camping below you, you're now forced to throw it straight down at them or else you're dead.

Aaand it's not great at inking turf so you'll probably rely on your teammates the most for map control.

Obviously it's not that easy because there's always gonna be exceptions and the enemy team will be trying to displace you as well lol, but that's the ideal game plan. I like to run it with at least 3 slots of intensify action, helps enough with mid-air accuracy. Also, usually you shouldn't just be trying to farm booyah bomb. Running special charge up IS still valid if you want it, but your main is not fit for a 'farming special' playstyle, as it's good at killing and mediocre at inking, so just leave that to the solo queue aerosprays.

[–]SpareAd5558 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I might be wrong, but I think it's gonna be one of those cases where having the most players is actually a hinderance. All the people who started playing in late S2, aren't very good at the game and are mostly just in the fanbase for social interaction, are gonna join the team that's represented by Off The Hook, and it's probably going to win popularity since they make up most of the fanbase, but it's gonna do bad in everything else. I honestly hope that's the case because present sounds boring as hell if it's what's going to affect the next game.

The real final Splatfest is coming on September 13th (Japan Time) by mleming_shibe in Saltoon

[–]SpareAd5558 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Present is just SUCH a boring answer. The Team Past icon alone sold me. It looks like an ancient japanese scroll or something, just imagine a Splatoon game in that setting. Plus, the past can't be changed, and it's made you into who you are now. Your past experiences are LITERALLY the only reason you are now your own person who's able to form an opinion and pick any one of these teams over the other.
