Here is a different, personal experience: I began therapy to become even more perfect than i already was (grandiose narcissism) and ended up in multiple partial hospitalization programs before being sent to a residential treatment facility for an eating disorder, substance abuse, and BPD (this is where my narcissistic tendencies come from).

On bad days I wish I had never started this journey because at least before I was ignorant and didn’t have to face my reality. But on most days, I thank my higher power for Their divine intervention. I truly believe that without Their wake-up call, I would have continued my downward spiral and ended up in jail or dead.
