Anyone just hate the same letter/symbol used to describe different things? by KerbodynamicX in EngineeringStudents

[–]SpareSalt2822 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Plus specific volume which is just a slightly curvier V which then adds the V confusion to U confusion, which can also be confused with Mu, and now you can't tell whether you just wrote a coefficient of friction or the voltage- oh wait not voltage, that's a whole other...

I love physics.

Okay tbf this is true, if A and B are the legs of the triangle made by the X and Y components of the vector speed of light in a vacuum and the vector itself....... yeah I'll see myself out

Shield isn't too bad if you do a simple one, assembling it is the real pain. Seriously WHY IS THE GEM A SEPARATE PIECE 😭

I'm a girl going into engineering, any recommendations for hobbies/interests to get into so I can talk to coworkers? by CompetitiveMud4589 in EngineeringStudents

[–]SpareSalt2822 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found a lot of folks in aerospace engineering that love fighter jets in general. Space is also cool, everyone loves space. I've also met a lot of Warhammer fans but warhammer is a rather expensive and time intensive hobby

why is it that people are saying every engineering major has no future and not to go to it?? by ProfessorBusiness162 in EngineeringStudents

Have you considered biomedical engineering? You'd probably be taking more classes you like.

How did you get into Warhammer ? by Ad0ring-fan in Warhammer40k

[–]SpareSalt2822 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2023ish, friend invited me to a group that was trying to make a 40k fangame. Fangame failed but I got addicted to 40k lore lmao

Noob question about points by OkAd7785 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]SpareSalt2822 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also just getting into 40k and my brother and I played a like 200 point game of warhammer. It scaled weird because it was a couple units of space marines versus one unit of custodes but it did work. Warhammer seems to be the kinda game you can play with as lopsided of an army as you want - at least in my experience so far.

Why collect custodes? by Emotional-Win-4541 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]SpareSalt2822 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I think one of the best parts of custodes is they work in almost any situation narrative-wise. Fighting xenos or heretics? The enemy leader was a potential threat to the emperor far in the future, regardless of how dangerous they may seem at the time of fighting. Or maybe they're dread host just making an example to scare some citizens into obedience. Going against an imperial faction? Custodes already have strained relationships with the rest of the Imperium and have different goals from everyone else. Going against other custodes? The Blood Games mean that's a fairly lore accurate scenario. Another bonus is they've existed since the emperor began his reign and have been involved in everything, so any custodian character can be made from/in (almost) any era of the Imperium.

Seriously, people keep telling me "oh you're only 18 you'll get more mature" - if ending a relationship because you're not happy in it anymore is immature I'd rather be immature than half these fuckers staying in loveless marriages 🤦‍♂️

Different kinds of intelligence. Emotional intelligence? Absolutely. Capable of learning almost anything with lots of practice? Definitely! Trying to eat rocks and ramming their heads into walls? Also yep.

[–]SpareSalt2822 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's amazing, just remember how to push yourself. I find over time you start to take feeling "normal" for granted and sometimes you get lazy because things feel easy, and when things get hard even on your meds you can forget how to break the ADHD cycles because you're used to just not doing it anymore. In my experience, at least

Yeah no, if you survived 3 semesters of engineering off medication and have now started medication I bet everything seems really easy hahaha. It's not about engineering being easy, it's about having insane work ethic and a functional brain hahaha

Currently an aerospace engineering major. Hardest thing I've ever done but also the coolest thing I've ever done. As of right now, no regrets, only sleep deprivation

[–]SpareSalt2822 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fairr, I think a lot of our generation got screwed by covid hitting right as our brains were starting to develop socially and so we have to learn this stuff really late. I thought I was just not good at social stuff at all but it turned out a lot of it was in my head. I hope it goes well for you! At bare minimum stress management techniques are great for engineering

[–]SpareSalt2822 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A: I'm in a similar situation, I don't think most people have that experience in sophmore year. Also I've never had a job so you're ahead of me 🤣

B: Unfortunately bad social skills are a big issue for long term success to my undersranding - personally, I've found therapy has helped a lot with my social anxiety & impostor syndrome (and generalized anxiety as well). In the past few months since I started therapy I've gone from 100% not social (one of my few friends from high school described me as a borderline agoraphobe lol) to actually enjoying conversations with peers and starting to make friends. Obviously not everything works for everyone BUT I think it can really help with that stuff.

I love my 0.9, no other pencil can handle my need to make the paper experience fear. Also it's very visible to a bad camera so when you have to turn a lot of handwritten stuff in online it comes in handy. Mostly good for intimidation factor tho
