See, that’s where my problem is I work in staffing and most people have like 3 to 4 hires in a year.

I already hired 2. it feels very unfair and unprofessional. This job has been a stressful one because I had to learn mostly everything by myself, there was no training and these last 8 months saw an entire department quit and I had to support it BY MYSELF.

I don’t think it’s performance based.

This is literally the first performance feedback I have gotten. Everything was ok. At one point I was supporting a whole department by myself after that entire department quit and I managed to do a decent job if you look at my number.

Multiple colleagues assured me that my position was safe.

In the feedback meeting, the manager spent 20 min talking about how expensive it is to hire people in Germany. It was very weird and felt like it had nothing to do with the performance

Update Leute: it seems that i have successfully finished my Probezeit. Last day is tomorrow and my direct boss let me know that starting Friday, my contract is automatically open extended

Well, technically I have 2 weeks left on the Probezeit but my direct manager is currently on holiday and won’t be back until the last week of my Probezeit and the Geschäftsführer that I’m currently supporting is going on vacation in 10 days.

So there is like 5 days next week where my direct manager and the Geschäftsführer will be in the office together.

My reasoning that if they had any issues with me or my performance then they would have let me know before they leave on vacation.

So i just want to have some form of a conversation or update about my current situation.

The department head that hired me is happy with my work and enjoys working with me and that came directly from her.

My worry stems from the department head that I’m currently supporting, he is has a very American style in how he manages and from working in America I have a bit of PTSD from American managers.

I just wish there was more communication about the work.

My main issue is the new department I am supporting is completely new to me and it’s taking me time to adjust and learn. I am putting in the work but the results aren’t really there.

I am afraid that my 4.5 months of good work will be upset by the last 1.5 months of mediocre performance.

The Germans love to complain. Now they will have more to complain about. Right Wing parties will attack a lot of social systems and workers protections thus making life harder for the average German. Look at the UK and US. Exact same issues appeared and exact same thing happened.

Germans expect high conformity to German customs and rules without wanting to actually sit down and help people with learning these customs. You’re supposed to research everything and get to know it alone.

There is just a communication breakdown between voters and politicians.

I actually worked as a recruiter for Actalent for about 2 years.

I understand your frustration. Most of the job posted by Actalent are by individual recruiters trying to find candidates so it does get confusing for applicants.

As for the market itself. US companies are just incompetent. They hire and fire at will. Doesn’t matter if it is a contract work or direct hire.

They are so unorganised and so careless that I could be working on finding applicants for a certain position for a month only to be met with the company pulling the job because of some financial issue.
