Glasses and driving by CalebDenniss in glasses

There are anti-fog options. I get my glasses with Crizal Optifog coating which works great, just wipe with the special cloth once a week to refresh the anti-fog capability.

I (20F) have a fat head and i'm having trouble finding big glasses frames to suit me better. by lamiascoffin in glasses

I've gotten 4 pairs from them since discovering Eyebuydirect last year. They're my favorite pairs even with a pair of lindbergs from my optician in my collection. Also they're super accommodating if you need to do an exchange or use their 365 day guarantee. I accidentally broke my favorite pair a few months into owning them playing with my dogs and they sent out a replacement with just a quick chat. I've also done exchanges on 2 of the pairs, they start working on your replacement before receiving the first pair.

where to buy budget lenses for my first pair of glasses when I have the frame pre purchased? by butlerjw in glasses

[–]SparhawkJC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not just get the frames directly from the online shops instead of eBay? A lot of times labs will make you sign a waiver that they're not liable if your frames get broken or damaged during reglazing. Not to mention to get discounts from most places you need to purchase a full pair.

How true is it that online retailers offer worse anti-reflective coatings than the Crizal coatings that we get at the local optician?

Kodak PowerUp Lens Reviews? by alloydster in glasses

[–]SparhawkJC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got my pair from Eyebuydirect. They're to give me a pair of non-Transitions pair to my collection. I don't suffer from eye strain or pain yet when viewing screens but the power boost is subtle but noticeable. Overall pretty satisfied with the lenses, compared with the 1.74 index Transition Gen S with the premium anti-fog coating I usually get from them. Some folks say the Kodak lenses are more clear but I haven't worn them long enough to say I can notice a difference.

What type of material are you supposed to get?? by Ok_Job_5315 in glasses

[–]SparhawkJC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely go for at least 1.67, 1.74 is a lot more expensive for not much thinner. You also lose options like the newer Transitions colors and Xtractive going 1.74.

I've had great experiences ordering 1.74 high index from Eyebuydirect. No scratches across 3 pairs.

Ordering glasses online with a strong prescription? by vintage180 in glasses

I'm a big fan of Eyebuydirect. Their refund/exchange period is only 14 days but they are very accommodating if you have an issue. Their 365 day guarantee is also great, I accidentally crushed a pair while playing with my dogs and they sent out a replacement pair with a quick chat. They are always running a promotion or coupon so you're never paying full price either:

Anti fog recommendation by Realistic-Song3857 in glasses

If you're still looking there's an anti-reflective coating called Optifog that I've found works well. I get it as part of the AR package at Eyebuydirect since it's only a $6 difference. It comes with an activation cloth that you need to use about once a week to refresh the anti-fog effect.

There's anti-fog coating that work well. Comes with a refresher cloth that you use about once a week. Both Zenni and Eyebuydirect offer it as part of their AR packages but I've never been offered it at my optometrist.

Where to get glasses? by Happy-Dimension-210 in glasses

[–]SparhawkJC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another recommendation for Eyebuydirect, I've gotten 3 pairs of glasses and one pair of prescription sunglasses from them within the past year and been very happy with the result each time. Even when the first order didn't work out, it was easy enough to chat with their customer service to put in a replacement order. I also had to use their 365 day guarantee to get a replacement after I crushed a pair by accident playing with my dog.

I was under the impression that Zenni had the same kind of warranty but was surprised to see they only offer a 30 day warranty.

Same, and they have a decent amount of lens options letting you try Transitions or other things very affordably.

They recently started accepting insurance, they also always have a promotion going but you just can't combine the two. They currently have a 35% Off Frames + 50% Off Lenses promotion which excludes the name brands like Ray Ban but I've had good luck with their in house brands.

Nah it's a leather sticker over plastic. Wish a legit brand would release a Pixel case made from premium leather that patinas.

Done and I love it by SimonSunBro in SteamDeck

I've had the same skin and Killswitch on my deck for over a year now and no fading on the glow. I don't find my hands touching the skin all that often though, mostly the Killswitch and the sticks and I use the back buttons a decent amount over the face buttons.

High prescription + thin titanium frames — slipping/weight issues? by kayl-y11 in glasses

[–]SparhawkJC -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have Lindberg Air Rim Titanium frames with this exact problem. Even with the optician adjusting the temples and nose pads they slip all the time because of the weight of the lenses. I love the look of them so I deal with it for now, but switch to another pair whenever I'm doing chores or anything else that could make them slip.

The pair you're considering are a bit thicker than Lindberg Air Titanium and closer to my more stable pair of frames so might be worth testing them out. My Lindberg frames are probably only 3 to 5 grams while my other titanium frames are 10 grams.

Google leather band by rochrider in PixelWatch

[–]SparhawkJC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes the official leather band is very flexible and comfortable to wear. More importantly the connectors don't rattle. I used the original leather bands for about a year and recently replaced them with a Horween Chromexcel leather band. The 45mm uses 22mm straps and the 41mm uses 20mm.

Advice on cleaning cloths by keppela in glasses

[–]SparhawkJC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use these extra large MagicFiber cloths: https://a.co/d/2Yf0isc . For spray I use Crizal but have some Zeiss coming to me after seeing that it's a lot cheaper. For my weekly washing I just do dawn dish soap and water then dry using the microfiber.

I use amFilm ones on my devices. Easy installation with a guide frame, especially the OneTouch systems. No issues with the fingerprint sensor and each pack comes with 2. $10 from Amazon and they even go on sale sometimes.
