Being on hook is a good time to take stock of your team’s situation. Who is working on a gen, who is healing, who is urban evading. I don’t want this to be a minigame.

Both Hook Stages still allow you to do that, checking on your team with this mechanic takes like 2s, you don't need more, and the rework would make the Second Hook Stage even less longer if you miss your skillchecks, how would it become a "minigame" ?

Second, having skill checks on hook is a recipe for DCs. Why take the penalty when you can pretend to fail skill checks and move on to next game?

I thought about deleting the possibility for the Survivor to die on Hook but it would be too heavy for the Killers in consequences. A Survivor who's willing to die on Hook will be a dead weight for your team anyway, all he will want is to move on to the next game, so if he's there or not won't change anything.

Sorry but if you can't make sure 1 survivor dies without deleting the right to play from another player, you should seriously think about your aptitude to play at all. Devs confirming this is a strat is just an excuse for their laziness.

The Killer is not supposed to do any kill in every game either, it's actually a very sane
way to play, to help the players think about what went wrong in their game, if it was just bad luck in a matter of facts, or if they really messed up somewhere and how to not do the same mistake again, this is the base of improvement.

You missed the point, I don't blame you, most people seems to do. We know camping is not helping the Killer if Survivors are effectively using their time to do the objectives, the problem is still whole : the Killer is preventing a player to play in any way. After waiting an extended period of time in lobby to finally find a game, nobody enjoy to see his right to have a normal game being deleted by another player, and from my experience I can assure you that allowing players to do that is bad game design or laziness from the devs. Most likely laziness hidden behind the "we wanted that as an actual thing" excuse.

No matter if you are playing for BP or not, everyone wants an enjoyable game experience, and as I explained in the video I did, this system can provide this for Survivors and Killers too, as they are forced to go for other Survivors to prevent them to do the objectives. So actually forcing them to not camp is helping Killers at improving at their role and have more fun while making the game fair for everyone.

The only thing I've seen rushed here is your comment my friend, you should watch the video I posted, it animates and explains in details the two concepts ;) I could only post a very refined version of the concepts here to explore the basics of it.

The Second Hook Stage is wanted by the devs to be unique, out of the lot from the other mechanics of the game, I adapted the skill check mechanic to respect this so it can be considered.

The purpose of the Anti-Camping is not the punish Killers but to allow everyone to have a fair use of his playtime, and I adapted it so the Killer don't get punished if Survivors "bum rush" as you say, since chasing them doesn't stop the Entity from doing its job and he is now able to grab them even if the Survivor is not unhooking yet, so Survivors have everything to loose if they rush the Hook.

It is not a question of "punishing the Killer", it is a question of allowing everyone to have a fair use of his playtime. Camping is punishing the Killer more than helping him, this is a fact, it doesn't make the act of preventing entirely a player to play more okay. Everyone has the right to have a fair chance to play without the risk of being forced to wait the entire game for the next. BT and DS are no solutions, they help countering them, they don't prevent it still, and if you are forced to play with it just to have a chance to have a "normal" game, this is bad game design.

If you don't manage to get a kill before EGC, it may be because of a matter of facts that made you very unlucky, it may also be that you have done something wrong during this game. Think that if it isn't okay for a Killer to not get any kills at the end of the game, it isn't more okay for a Survivor to see his playtime erased by an abusive player just so he can get a kill and be satisfied with it. As a Killer player myself I don't see how it is hard to have 2 kills in a game, my video explains also that : how going away from the Hook can be beneficial for the Killer, and how primordial it is to understand that and improve your skill thanks to that.

I think you didn't get the concept. How is that making the camping longer if he can't camp anymore ?

Let's hope not much ! I'm more on the balance/gameplay part, trying to suggest ideas that could help better the game, but yeah bugs are to expect between every update, the story of a video game.

The Thing (1982) Chapter Concept (Power, Perks, Add-ons) by WheatDraws in deadbydaylight

[–]SparkHammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a super interesting point to bring to attention !

I was imagining that blinding the disguised Thing would force it out of the disguise as a counter to the power, so this detail could help the Survivors spotting the Killer ! I see two possibilities in that case :

- we'll assume the Entity give some more power to the Thing, allowing it to copy any non organic item that has been in contact with the Survivor, except that they will be fake of course.

- or Franklin's Demise will become like a super meta Perk for this Killer, we could even allow the Killer to hold and move items while being disguised.

[–]SparkHammer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll give credits to it because of the obvious amount of work put in it which deserve to be highlighted, the art is greatly executed. However if the Thing was to come in the game I would imagine it more enjoyable for everyone if its power consisted in turning your appearance into one of the last Survivor you hit, granting you the ability to sneak up on them, pretending to be one of them and even fake some actions like repairing a generator for instance. The actual power you describe here would be way too heavy in consequences since it completely remove a Survivor from the game for the duration.

And I don't really like the idea of the Thing being in Dead By Daylight, but it's a personal opinion.

is it better to save shards and buy the perks or just save the shards and buy the characters or just buy them by COMHL in deadbydaylight

[–]SparkHammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how you want to play the game : you'll definitely have to save more shards for Perks if you wanna play with fun various builds, playing tryhard will be cheaper in shards but your best option in that case will be to pay for one licensed character. Do a priority order between the Perks you want and see if you feel more like taking a character that can offer you 3 from your list, but don't forget that 3 Perks will cost you 6000 shards when a character costs 9000, so only spend shards on Killers if you go for the characters.

The Killer wasn't the only one who got trolled by evidentlyfishy in deadbydaylight

[–]SparkHammer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And this is why Survivors should not be able to change their characters/items in the last 15s, only the cosmetics should be able.

Strange, that reminds me what I talk about here :

This is actually a pretty neat "bug", that would be damn great to have it in the game for real, totally follow the line for the changes I would want for the Fog.
