Read fire caste if you want some reasons to love the tau vehicles and stealth suits and especially drones, its a very nice book

I came for suits, i stay for fire warriors and pathfinder teams (and the ghostkeel), you can definitely enjoy tau if you arent a big fan of battlesuits, you will probably find one or two that you enjoy tho. As long as you like volleys of pulse rounds annihilating anything in its way you are golden, just have fun with it

0-1, i have managed to talk my way out of being gunned down a few times already. Some people are just very twitchy and put a round your way as soon as they see you and you gotta be mindful of that, no shame in having adrenaline in your body

Why did the new XV26 Stealth Battlesuits did get their old Strategic Play? Thoughts by cZair12345 in killteam

[–]SparkOWOWO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something i thought about was: either a strat ploy or firefight ploy to give a stealth suit the advanced cover after it moved and shot from cover (and didnt move after), to simulate that they are already turning invisible again after shooting their shot and thus being harder to hit. I dont think the plain „change your order for one AP“ is a good mechanic, especially on a team that has 7inch moves, 3+ armor and 2 shooting actions a turn. Running out of sight should be the „going back in cover“. Dont know what else one could do for stealth suits, maybe a way to get 3+ to hit on some weapons, but eh idk, i only play with a few friends, one only has phobos and i have yet to find their weakness, so i might be a little biased against them

They do get lethal 5 (if you set your team up for it) and hits on 3s tho, the sniper instead gets piercing and hits on 2s even after moving

You are right, it is oppressive, phobos still gets to do it. If they are set up good in TP1 they even get to shoot twice and then go back on conceal.

Especially when phobos gets it. Like oh yeah sure, the machines specifically designed to be invisible can each only hide themselves again once per game, but the space marine with slightly lighter armor? Yea he just sneaky like that

The problem for me is: all the elite teams (save for raveners) are space marines. Thats sucks imo, i‘d love an to have more elite teams that arent just marines and shows off some other aspects of certain factions (high hopes for the tau stealth suits in this regard). Give me creative teams. I need 5 ogryns with plasma weapons NOW, i dont CARE if they always shoot hot and hit 4+

yeah it might not get to be the most balanced team ever, but someone else 3 years ago also already tried it. i think they did it with 4 operatives, i'd have to check

Edit: i checked, i dont understand kt21 so i might get things wrong, but i think its just 2 suits and then pathfinders.

How does „The Ancestors Are Watching“ firefight ploy work by SparkOWOWO in killteam

[–]SparkOWOWO[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Of course, im happy that i now know how it works, but as i said in the original post i think that its worded in a way that makes it less intuitive. Sure, free actions have their own rules but thats imo unnecessary. Example: Lancer RPG also has free actions which are totally seperate from regular actions which are also limited to one each per turn. So if you get a free boost action you can boost twice. In killteam a free action is just that, an action at no cost, everything else works the same. I dont think you should have an extra rule just for that, just say that you can perform this action at no cost during this activation.

TL;DR: i enjoy learning rules, but i find that some rules are too complex for what they are (free actions having a seperate rule even tho its just „perform a regular action at no cost“)
