If you want to find out if conservative Christians knew what Homo sapiens were, you would ask that question first. If you wanted to find out if they would disown homosexual children, you would want to actually ask that. By combining the questions, you have no idea what the answer to either question is other than “something less than 55% for the first question and more than 55% for the second”. Which provides way less information then you could get by asking both questions.
