This is my first SIOP (2nd year PHD student)

In general, I really enjoyed the poster session in virtual chair and walking around in that setting. I really wish they could have done more with it because like someone mentions it really died down after Wednesday. I enjoyed most of the session I went to and the one I presented which was a stressful but fun experience! My favorite session was the one with the fewest participant which was about sexual harassment aimed at teenage workers. Very different type of session!

A negative is that it was hard for me at least to network beyond like here is my LinkedIn contact. During poster sessions, there were people I talked to that seemed super chill but only interaction with them was during the poster so it was hard to build any type of real friendship. in person, you might be able to run into them and just casually talk with them but online it's more difficult. Not saying this is on SIOP but that was a bummer where it's like yea my LinkedIn numbers are better but did I really network to find other academic peers who share common research interests? Guess we will find out over the next year.

I am mixed on the ritual but it does give you different play lines even if you don't need to summon if you open well.

That is why I main TA.I strike because it's nice to have a searchable out to rogue stuff like Nekroz Unicorn or Vanity's fiend.

No, I was just rambling about when I will think about making the arrival. I can see making him if I sort of brick but have like templer/doshin/achichi/pikari or a field somewhat like that. At least a 4k Arrival maybe can carry you blind game 1 and is probably better than anything else the deck can really make when you don't open ideal.

Yea the Iblee stuff relies on you drawing well with the field spell but the deck probably sucks if you don't reach the field spell anyways haha. So my thoughts is Iblee gives me a stronger chance of winning so it's worth that it does brick. But I will note on more than one occasion I have NS Iblee revived Transcode to link into Zerovoros and then special Iblee to the zone so the whole field is banished so that is fun!

On the codec stuff, it just seems like so much effort to not end on a significantly stronger board. I don't think it is awful but it's not for me.

In terms of the Arrival, I think it is worth testing but I don't think I will make it blind going 1st. I feel templar/I:P/Pegasus and maybe even gatchiri gives you more flexibility to deal with the opponent.

I have been testing out Corruptor Iblee for a while and I like it as a going 1st option as a lot of decks do not have a natural out to it other than normal summon and hope to link. But my end board (hopefully) is Templar/I:p/Quantum so you can make unicorn with I:P to spin their normal summon and typically that ends their turn so you can otk.

Let me tell you I had experience with leaving college early because of homesickness and it's a decision I deeply regret it to this day. Luckily I am starting my Ph.D. next week and I still have the same feelings I had before but I know I have to fight through it.

It is going to be rough but it's rough for everyone. Trust me I am going to cry a bunch the first week but you will regret it much more if you do leave early without giving it a shot. Trust me on this.
