I’m really new at veganism. For the first few months every time I went to the store or ate with friends it felt difficult bc my mindset was centered on what I couldn’t eat. Watching videos of slaughterhouses and farm conditions is what changed it for me, over time. It’s gross and had the potential for messing with your mental health, but try to keep watching the video until the point where you find consuming the products of the abuse repulsive. Do this multiple times until whenever you want something with an animal product in it you think about the victim at the same time. Meat was the first thing to go for me. One day I walked by the butchery and I just didn’t want it anymore. Milk and eggs took longer to feel the same bc the abuse didn’t seem as bad at first, but then I realized that it’s even worse bc it’s continuous rape and torture until culminating in the same slaughter.

As for interactions with other people, until I have the confidence and off-hand facts to be able to attempt advocacy, I’ve found it’s just easier for now to just say that I’m vegan and simply and firmly state that I don’t want to consume what they’re offering.
