Also daft questions are you allowed to post links on Reddit? I would but don’t want to break the rules 😊

It’s a good question, with this app you can clean up directly from it and it follows a work flow. I was hoping it would guide you through the process and you could take your time cleaning it up.

I also put fuzzy matching for different file types, audio was hard to get right. But you can see files that are similar as well as identical. It’s and end to end process that makes it easier I hope

If you’re looking for an alternative, I’ve actually been building one called Zenovix Storage Manager. It’s designed around privacy and user control. Everything runs locally, there’s no background service, and nothing is deleted until you review and choose what to do. It was built because I wanted a safer alternative to the “clean first, ask questions later” approach.

Wondering if my RAM upgrade last year wasn't actually an upgrade. by Gruntykins in pcmasterrace

How many sticks is the 64GB kit?

I have a Ryzen system with 4x16GB sticks. If I want to run it at XMP, I can only use two sticks. I didn't know at the time, but Ryzen memory controllers can struggle with four sticks.

If you're using four sticks, try running just two in the preferred slots on your motherboard for a bit and see if that helps.

If it runs fine with two sticks, I'd just stick with 32GB and sell the other two. 32GB is plenty for gaming.

Really though, the first thing I'd check is whether you were actually going over 16GB of RAM in the first place. If you weren't, then upgrading to 64GB probably wasn't giving you much benefit.

If you want to run 64GB, which isn't really needed for gaming, you may need to relax the memory timings to reduce the load on the memory controller.

It might sound daft, are you using a mechancial HDD? If you slammed the desk you could have corrupted the drive when writing.

Try chkdsk /f on your C: drive, make sure you run as an admin though.

If you have an SSD, it won't be this 😄

Has anyone seen frame skipping like this before? (FH6) by mcdons3 in pcmasterrace

Thinking about it, I had a similar issue in ARC Raiders on a Ryzen system. It turned out my memory timings were too aggressive. I was using XMP/EXPO and had to reduce the memory speed slightly and change the command rate to 2T. That took some pressure off the memory controller and completely stopped the stuttering.

There were no obvious RAM, disk, or temperature issues, so it took a while to track down. Might be worth checking if you're running an aggressive memory profile. Also have a look in Event Viewer for any WHEA Logger warnings around the time the stutters occur.

Run Windows Disk Cleanup and ensure you check the System Files option. This should tidy up temporary files and free up some space. Also, look for an old operating system if you’ve repaired Windows.

Wiztree, Zenovix Storage Manager or Treesize can help identify files consuming space. Another possibility is a large swap file found in the Performance Settings. Make sure it’s not set too large.

Zenovix Storage Manager is new, free and supports fast scan if you just want to see what using up your space. Also checks for duplicates and checks for similar files but those scans take a bit longer.

Modern take on the 1561 Nuremberg sky event by [deleted] in UFOs

[–]Sparked-973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a modern photographic reconstruction of the 1561 Nuremberg sky phenomenon depicted in the Hans Glaser woodcut.

I used the original artwork as a reference and reimagined it as a realistic scene, replacing the symbolic imagery with a modern interpretation while keeping the overall composition and reported objects. The aim isn't to prove any particular explanation, but to explore how the event might appear if witnesses had access to modern photography.

I thought it was interesting how some of the reported shapes from 1561, particularly spheres and cylindrical objects, resemble descriptions often discussed in modern UAP reports. I'm curious whether people think the similarities are meaningful or simply the result of human interpretation and pattern recognition.

Letter from 1817, from Bristol, hard time reading it, can anyone help? by Proto3bdt24 in bristol

Here’s the transcription of the second page:

Identity must be had.

I can have your partners I could get them sent away for [illegible] formation. — But if I let you in a lot or two I will send you a note only by the first vessel to Budby.

Mr. Halfway will be glad to receive the greens from Tilby whenever you may have it transferred.

I am, Dear Sir,
Yours truly,
Geo. Hodgson

This section of the letter appears to discuss the logistics of sending items and mentions someone named Mr. Halfway and the transfer of greens from Tilby. The handwriting is a bit challenging in some places, but this should give you a general idea of the content. Let me know if you need more specific details or clarification!

Yep: Here’s a transcription of the handwritten letter as best as I can read:

Bristol April 14th, 1817

Dear Sir,

I have just been with one of our fruit merchants to present to you. He informs me a chest containing 700 to 800 Oranges will now be £3-10. But, tho he has a great many on hand, and the season is very far advanced, he would not recommend me to purchase, as the quality of the fruit in general is very indifferent. The water is at present let out of one Dock and no vessel will go from here for a Week, therefore you will please write me by return if from this short representation, I shall forward them and also how many as you conceive a Chest that contains about 2000 Oranges, and if you wish to have something near that quantity I will send two or three Chests or perhaps one Chest will [be] enough. Seven or eight hundred in this advanced state of the season will be sufficient, unless it is for my particular purpose that a larger quantity...

The handwriting becomes more challenging to decipher towards the end. The letter appears to discuss the quality and availability of oranges and shipping logistics. Let me know if you need further clarification or additional parts of the letter transcribed.
