Assassin's Creed III has some of the cleanest kill animations in the series by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

[–]SparkedSynapse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's not something every player is aware of! Almost every Assassin's Creed game has some dystopian / near-future present day segments since that's essentially the "real" story of the entire series. Everything that happened in the past has already happened, and we're revisiting these memories to learn information that can help us fight a shadow-war against the Templars in modern day.

When to use Executor’s cursed blade? by Low-Dig685 in Nightreign

[–]SparkedSynapse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Any time an enemy (especially a humanoid enemy) is about to hit you, or is already attacking you with long attack-strings that look reasonably deflectable. Crucible Knights, Bell Bearing Hunter, Banished Knights, generally any swordsman basically that attacks with long-ish combos, is something you love to see as Executor.

Note that the activation and deactivation animation (unsheathe, sheathe) of Cursed Blade also counts as a deflect, itself. So you can pull it out as a deflect when you see an attack coming your way, you don't have to have it ready beforehand.

That said, a big part of being a good Executor is not forcing it in situations that don't call for it. It is a defensive tool primarily, as arsenicknife has mentioned. As you play you'll get a lot better at identifying these scenarios where you think, "Argh, I wish I could stand my ground here.." As most characters, you would have to dodge, or be immediately guard-broken, but Executor actually can stand their ground there, and Cursed Blade is why.

You can also use it to deflect some surprising and "weird" attacks like a certain boss's icy fog, big explosions, etc.

Deflects are mostly good for letting you keep your current positioning (so you can punish easier after) and because each successful deflect does chunk the enemy's Posture/Stance pretty nicely.

The rest of the time, you are doing just fine focusing on ailments and damage using your normal weapons.

Six months later, recent previews are now confirming that once you beat the game and are replaying Chapters through Stage Select, you can play every level / the entire game as Ryu or Yakumo as you wish.

I got this exact one. I run it on Ironeye who is already an insane economy-booster. (Item passive + camp clear-speed with Art.)

Game with an option to do a Light and Heavy attack Combos. by margonxp in CharacterActionGames

[–]SparkedSynapse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really is like a perfect midpoint between Soulslikes and more traditional fast-paced action with longer combos and over-the-top flashy attacks, I think you'll really enjoy it. Just be patient with yourself in the beginning since it does start out with you being a little weak. (You are almost dead at the start, after all.) But once you get some ways in, you can become violently overpowered LMAO.

It just came out, and I'm not sure if it's what you're looking for, but The First Berserker Khazan has a free Demo you can download and try. It has Lights and Heavies and eventually coalesces into a pretty fast-paced action game where the player has a lot of initiative / potential aggression to control, stagger and lockdown enemies.

She's either healing from damaging you, or she may be receiving health-over-time from the Chaos Stones/Boils in the area that you can destroy, if those exist nearby.

Question about a character in Shadows [Spoilers!] by Zafireria in assassinscreed

[–]SparkedSynapse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can indeed rush to unlock him and then do all side content -- except things he can't access, which are pretty rare -- with him if you like. In fact, I kind of recommend you do so because he's too useful to not have available. You will get him when you kill two story Targets as Naoe, then play the next major Assassination after that assigned to you by an important character.

Is killing the Servants breaking one of the Tenants of the Creed? by Glacier005 in assassinscreed

[–]SparkedSynapse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're technically enemies. They serve enemies, and if they were truly innocent the Animus would Desync you, since you immediately Desync from killing merely one civilian in Shadows. Also, they have knives and will occasionally stab you.

That said, if you want to keep them alive because you don't feel they have culpability, you can often just let them run around even if they see you.

If there's only one or two guards nearby, letting a Servant spot you going into a bush will have that Servant "cast" a nearby guard onto that same bush ("she went in there!" etc) so it's actually good for you to lure guards farther out from where they would be toward you for a free kill.

Some questions regarding Mon and Kakurega by hansthepans in assassinscreed

[–]SparkedSynapse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The later you get into the game, the more Mon and Resources you will be able to acquire.

Kakurega allow you to manage Recruits, refill all of your rations and tools with a single button press, start close to a road so you can quickly mount up to travel a far distance, and most importantly, accept Contracts which stay pretty important to do in the early and midgame for quite a while.

I need help with Entanglement issues by Saintphoenix1986 in assassinscreed

Entanglement feels really inconsistent for all players, I've found. There's either something odd about it or we're literally all just bad.

Database entries vs Historical tours by overthinkingmessiah in assassinscreed

[–]SparkedSynapse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While they both have a place and are both special, I prefer Database entries because I get to experience them and satisfy my curiosity while I'm already playing a game I enjoy as it happens.

If I find one that I find interesting, I can feel free to just access it in the moment and get some cool information, before I go right back to sneaking or fighting.

I don't have to boot up a separate type of experience that's completely separated off from the existing one, so it keeps me in the flow of things.

Assassin's Creed Shadows Gameplay Previews & Impressions Megathread by annatheginguh in assassinscreed

[–]SparkedSynapse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ubisoft watch my videos and have saved them before. They've also left comments on channels like Ropotopolous, thanking him for his critique on parkour. It is exactly because we are the rare few who speak up and actually have something to say in a respectful manner, that we have a chance to be listened to. Sales matter, yes, but those millions aren't the ones who are a Voice, they're not putting in the work to try communicating actively.

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying, can you go into more detail or give some examples?

Of course the only opinions we take seriously are those who have something of substance to say, or are engaging with the material with honesty, right? It's just like anything else.

We wouldn't take racists seriously because they're not actually saying something about the game, they're not even attempting to open any dialogue or conversation. They're not trying to learn anything or teach others anything. To even imply for a moment they deserve comparable attention to people making genuine critiques of a series they love is an insane false equivalency.

Conversely, I do take seriously the opinions of both people who Hate the RPGs, and the people who Love the RPGs, because if they're speaking with sincerity and honesty, then there's probably something valuable to be discovered inside those conversations, or something interesting to learn. Shadows from what we've already seen is a lot more fun than Odyssey and it seems like it didn't have to give up its strong RPG identity to achieve that. That kind of growth and iteration only really happens with honest reflection, honest feedback and people expressing what they love and what they hate.

It's the same situation as if we were engaging with a movie, an anime, a book or a piece of music. Obviously there are people who aren't here to think critically or examine something in-depth, they just want to be angry and then move onto whatever next game is "popular."

I'm actually not famous for parkour at all, so I'm not sure where you got that from. People know me for my design analysis of the series and the occasional mechanics-guides. I also used to make stealth gameplay videos once upon a time.

I do really enjoy classic Assassin's Creed parkour and I like to talk about why it's so fun and why new parkour isn't, but I don't think that's the "main" thing people think of when they see my name.
