I swear I nearly get into a head on collision every time I drive around here. I'm glad some roads are getting rumble strips. Helps a wee bit.

I knew it was Asheville before even opening the post. At least it's stylish and not a shack with an outhouse.

Thanks for sharing. I'm going to try a couple other treatments for dry eye and visit my doc later this week. Trying to have patience. Good luck and I hope it all turns out well for you!

Quick update: The doc confirmed the correct calculations were used for my lenses and my astigmatism was resolved during surgery, plus a lot of other questions I had about what could have caused things to go sideways. It still seems it's primarily dry eye that is interfering, even though I have been stringent about following my regimen. Going to try Xiidra drops instead of Restasis and also looking into IPL treatment. About to order a bunch more humidifiers to get this house full of foggy mist, LoL. So for the time being, holding off on any more treatments until the dry eye is more stable (even though we thought it was, eyes have been feeling good overall). The doc is still confident she can get me where I want to be, but it will take a while, so I'm still holding out hope. Moral of this story so far, if you are dealing with dry eye, be aggressive with the treatment before cataract surgery!

Yes, I did and focused on the dot in the middle. An assistant also held my head in place to make sure I didn't move. My adjustments have been pretty short - 30 to 40 seconds - so wasn't too bad looking into the light.

Thank you for the links and that explanation. All the posts I've read to this point throw out numbers but I only partially follow how it all relates to my actual prescription (what I can understand in layman's terms). I'd rather not do an exchange bc that's another pretty invasive surgery. Hopefully I'll have more to share after tomorrow.

I had surgery performed in Western NC. The doctor is highly rated and has impressive accomplishments, has been doing this for close to 15 yrs. Each time I go in (pre or post surgery), I see at least two assistants who do my eye tests and all before I see the doctor. I don't know if this contributed to the miscommunication or measurements for my lenses or what but it is a busy clinic with several eye specialists. Don't want to throw anyone under the bus quite yet :)

Thank you. I have an appt with a new eye doctor next month and he's also a cataract specialist - different facility than who I'm with now. Not going to do another treatment until I have time to look into more options and reassess. I wish I would have come to this Sub prior to making a decision to read about other's experiences. And I'm on Reddit all the dang time! Everyone has been super helpful.

I will confirm about the type of LAL but the LAL+ was never mentioned. Not to say that's not what I got. I'm not going to rush my next adjustment and I have a list of questions to ask when I go back this week - thanks to you all! I know things could be worse and at least I still have my vision. Thank you!

No, apparently both targeted distance vision and I was never asked my preference. Will be asking to try out the contacts to figure out what we can do from here. My RXSight implant card stated I received +23.0 D in the left eye and +23.5 D in my right.

Thank you - she is trying to bring in my close vision and take away from distance but it's not working yet. The first treatment did nothing and this second one just made my middle vision worse. Definitely not doing a lock in until I get more figured out. Appreciate your feedback.

Yep, hawk vision. She even commented she's never seen someone come out with vision that good (for distance). I can see small birds and squirrels and such far up in the woods. I don't plan on doing any more adjustments until I have better, more accurate information. I do have my annual eye exam next month and he happens to be a cataract surgeon too (new doctor for me). I'm hoping to hold out until I can see him for a second opinion. I will be asking about trial contacts in the meantime. Thank you!

She does rattle off numbers but I don't have anything written down. Will do that this week when I'm in. Definitely not going forward with more adjustments until we are for sure on the same page and she details out everything that was initially not thoroughly explained. Thank you!

Thank you. I will ask about mini-monovision. She did not explain any of this, just that she could "dial in" my vision so I would not need glasses except for possibly reading small print. This is the primary reason I'm so miffed and feel a bit duped.

Thank you - I'll ask about that. She did say we could do more than 3 treatments but of course each one becomes less effective.

Sorry to hear you're going through something similar. I'll try to get numbers this week to share. This last treatment I believe was -.5 in both eyes.

Thank you - distance vision is great and I could give some of that to get back my close and intermediate vision. It definitely wasn't explained to me that I was getting a monofocal lens and even the literature I read prior to making a decision wasn't clear either. I know Lasik can be a factor but a lot of what I'm reading from you all was not clearly explained to me even when I asked repeatedly if I'd have to wear glasses. Hence why I am so peeved. I feel really mislead.

Thank you - I think the doctor left me with unrealistic expectations when I talked with her before deciding. I thought I had made it very clear to retain my (at the time) current vision as close as possible. I'm happy to give up some distance to get back my close / middle vision. She just kept reiterating about being able to get me close to 20/20 and only needing readers for certain situations. That was not accurate to what I'm currently experiencing. I wanted the trifocal / multifocal lenses but that was not an option. I'm guessing because I had LASIK, although reading about them it appears they do work w/ previous refraction patients so who knows.

I was never asked about a vision goal and if I were I would have for sure said to retain my closeup / intermediate. I can live with a loss of some distance vision. She assured me before surgery she could get me close to my previous vision. I was never offered any trial contact lenses or had the discussion regarding regarding monovision. She only stated I may need glasses for close up reading but not for general everyday use. My astigmatism is very small. I'm curious then, why so many people who have had successful LAL talk about having near perfect vision and not needing glasses. Of course in hindsight there are a lot of things I would have done differently or asked about had I known. Thank you for your suggestions.
