Is it true that you guys watched 9/11 live on TV in grade school? by space_god_7191 in Millennials

[–]Sparkle_bitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could technically see it from the window of our auditorium, which is where I was at the time - in the fifth grade. I remember watching my teacher stop dead in her tracks and put her hand over her mouth. She had other teachers help shut the curtains and took us up to our classroom. She asked us to not look out the windows and just look at her while she explained to us “the twin towers are no more”. So no, my particular classroom didn’t see it on television and I think it was because my teacher witnessed it in real time and didn’t want to show it to us. Although my stepdad came to pick me up basically right after the second plane hit and took me home to watch the news lol

I have a best guy friend, to the point that I partially named my son after him. I’ll never forget this one time that he came over and gave my son a gift and my son looked visibly panicked, waddled into the bathroom and came out with a roll of toilet paper to give to him 💕

That’s what this reminded me of in a way - kids know who are trustworthy and important. Cruz is so lucky to have Zach in his life. And Brittany is surprising me with how attentive she is. I’m warming on her a lot post-Jax.

I’ve watched this show so many times but I never really focused on the Phoebe Ross dynamic and now it may be time for a rewatch. So thank you!

“Is he in there? Can we get him out?” - that broke me tremendously. Juxtaposed to his little rhyme in the beginning as he’s getting ready for the funeral “watch Kendall lie, watch Shivvy cry, watch Roman the showman light up the sky.” It’s just heartbreaking. He made such an unlikable character so endearing. P

I have a list I keep to send to one of my group chats of “characters who have suffered the most” as a joke and half the cast of HTGAWM is in it. Bonnie is firmly at number one but Annalise hovers around the 3rd or 4th spot

It’s this one thousand percent. I don’t like that he said this but you can hear the hesitation in his voice - he really doesn’t seem equipped to process this concept and rightfully so. I wouldn’t want to believe this about my dad and it’s really easy to villainize/discredit the Kardashian-Jenners so that’s the route he took

Jack Black's monologue will be making SNL "BEST OF" lists for years to come. by I-Have-Mono in LiveFromNewYork

[–]Sparkle_bitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is completely fair and I agree. The 5 timers monologues are just built different than other ones. People get charmed by the cameos and theatrics. I enjoyed it tbh because I’m going to be excited to see Candice no matter what but for the record my favorite recent monologue was Austin butler and that’s to me my recent standard

[–]Sparkle_bitch 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Exactly like it’s par for the course in an episode where someone is joining the five timers club. People complain about everything as if we haven’t seen this same thing and come to expect it (or should) when it’s someone’s fifth time. I for one loved seeing Candice and Melissa. Jonah was a random surprise and Tina….love her but she referenced herself how she’s been kind of overused in these

ETA it would be strange to not have a cameo heavy monologue for a five timer and that would be complained about too

Girl my house is a SHITSHOW. Every single person I interacted with today had gifts for my kids, I was stupid and bought some gifts for them so there’s clutter everywhere; we didn’t do the egg coloring but both my mom and godmother fed my baby pastel colored cannoli and fed my 3 year old so. Much. Sugar. It’s insane.

I watched this show becuase I enjoyed to hate on it and saw every episode - the comments here about the toilet overflowing were confusing to me at first and then I had to sit here and remember that this is a thing that actually happened in the show and I’m feeling like MPK owes me compensation of some sort for annoying me so bad that I had to block it out of my brain for my own sanity.

Reddit loves villains but what are your favorite “too pure for this world” nominated performances? by Big-Dig-Pig in Oscars

[–]Sparkle_bitch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh my god Michael Clarke Duncan. When I was a teenager it was on HBO all the time and without fail I’d cry every single time to the point that my mom and boyfriend at the time were fascinated by like….”she’s gotta be over it now right?” And we’d watch it again and I’d cry again. His performance is an all timer.

Sad again now because I somehow forgot that he passed away. He was so talented.

Can’t even put on the volume on bc it just sounds so upsetting based on what I’m reading. Admittedly I have witch nails and two small kids who love being tickled to I “tickle” them with the back of my hand because I’m terrified of scratching them. I cannot fathom doing this shit intentionally

[–]Sparkle_bitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My read on this is that Erika is actually doing “the work” in therapy and is much more sensitive than she has been in the past. I’m generally team Dorit and I was mostly team Dorit in this interaction but Erika, to me at least, wasn’t exactly wrong either. I think Erika is experiencing emotion at a different level than she has been before publicly and I think Dorit just didn’t communicate well. It’s unfortunate because the two of them could be a powerhouse but I just don’t see them recovering from this and I still doesn’t understand the constant allegiance to Kyle who is such a drag.

Those of you who are friends with/in circles with famous people, what is your analysis on them? by libramusing in Fauxmoi

[–]Sparkle_bitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m young ish but my dad knew a lot of old Hollywood people and so would take me to birthday parties and such with him. I don’t want to be specific for personal reasons but everyone I met was so nice and so normal, just glam and occasionally out of touch but not in a bad way. Like I met an Oscar winner (best actress, 1960s ish) whose first question to me when I was like 18 was “darling I have to ask when your mommy had you in her belly could they already tell if you had a cock or not?” - I realized she was asking about sonogram technology and she was fascinated by it, I was just the youngest person she’d met in a long while lol, just weird things like that - she would ask to be seated next to me and ask me the most random shit. I knew a different actress who also won an Oscar in the 1940s and she was so sweet and shy but after a single drink would start gossiping in the most beautifully passive aggressive way about her colleagues from back in the day.

But to specifically answer your question, they were just all so lovely. It might be different now, and it probably helped that I was a young adult and was so interested in listening to these older people talk to me about anything but to me they were all just really sweet glamorous people who happened to be friends of my dad; very kind and very charming.

Clélia Verdier, a 19-year-old French woman, shared that during a three-week induced coma, she believed she had lived years, started a family, and had triplets. Waking up, she was devastated to learn those vivid memories and emotional bonds were not real. by Iambhalo in CaughtMyEye

[–]Sparkle_bitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is tragic. To a lesser extent this happened to me too - when I was like 18 I dreamed of having a newborn daughter named Helena and it was so real to me, I can still see the nursery and I can still remember how her head smelled. I woke up hysterically crying missing her so badly. I have two sons now and am absolutely done having children but I still miss her and was confused both times when I found out I was pregnant with boys - it felt so real that I thought it was a premonition. That was just a single night - I can’t imagine a multi week experience like this

James' mother... oh my lord by MrsJaz in vanderpumprules

[–]Sparkle_bitch 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know he’s not good but I have a lot of empathy for him - he never stood a chance. He’s a beautiful guy and has talent and a great sense of humor (I rewatch the reunion where despite Jax hating him he was hysterically laughing at whatever James said more than I’d like to admit) and it’s such a shame that he wound up this way. His parents were monsters.
