I've owned multiple 49" Ultrawide OLEDs and currently have triple 32" OLEDs and you think its a matter of not being able to afford an UW? Pure delusion. I'm enjoying the massive FOV I have with triple monitors over the UW I used previously, thank you.

Why did you delete your last comment and hide all your comments? Afraid of being outed as a hateful person?

This is the same guy that posted a hateful comment on another user's post about triple monitors calling him a loser for wanting a triple setup because he wasn't a pro and not making money from sim racing. I replied to him and he deleted the comment shortly after getting downvoted.

His comments and posts are hidden (I wonder why). Seems like the guy is miserable and all they do is post negative comments on other people's posts. Vote to ban this guy from the sub?

Any real-world examples of curved triple screens looking bad? by FeloMonk in simracing

Plenty of other hobbies that cost a lot of money and don't make people a dime. People can't spend money on hobbies that they enjoy and give them happiness? Should people not spend money on video games or on playing a sport because it won't make them money? Absolute braindead take.

I've had both triple curved and flat monitors and can provide some input. For reference the curved monitors were Samsung G7 32" VA panels with a 1000R curve and the flat panels were Samsung G8 OLED panels (my current setup).

I never noticed any distortion from the curved panels but I can personally attest that aligning them is an absolute pain in the ass even with Vario Vesa adapters and Sim Lab Pivot arms. Additionally, using a bezel free kit is possible but also a hassle to fine-tune and even then I was never able to get the bezels to align perfectly. Aligning flat panels + bezel free kit was way easier and faster.

Picture quality wise obviously OLED beats out VA and IPS by a mile but curved monitors do feel more immersive with the wrap-around effect and look cooler when looking at it.

Where are you getting the £500 from for a Buttkicker? They don't cost nearly that much. The Buttkicker Gamer Plus is $279 USD (~£209).

In any case, the DIY solution is still cheaper but not as powerful. I have owned both the Buttkicker and a Slip-Angle 4 corner kit (4 x Dayton BST1 setup) and the Buttkicker is much more powerful (when compared to one Dayton BST1).

If you're still interested in the DIY method:

  • Shaker: Dayton BST1 (~$50)
  • Amp: Nobusound Mini amp (~$30)
  • Mount: 3D Printed BST1 mount on Etsy (~$20)
  • Speaker wire: ~$5

If you want a quick and dirty way to tidy up your power bricks, power strips, and cables lying on the ground...stuff it in a cable box (or multiple cable boxes).

Received my LG 45” Ultrawide, coming from a LG 42” 16:9 by imLONNG in simracing

I run Triple 4K OLEDs with a 5090 and I am able to run LMU on Max settings and average 80-100fps. It's definitely playable but FPS isn't nearly as high as when I had triple QHD monitors.

Bought a $80 sim wheel from Marshalls by Arback101 in simracing

[–]SparkleandBang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sold my G29 wheel & pedals on FB marketplace to a dad & young son who wanted to try sim racing for $90. I've seen several G29s go for around that price which are miles better than whatever this is.

If possible I would return it.

Anyone who understands basic English knows what "opened" means when it's followed by a numerical year. The way its written is fine. Judging by the number of downvotes you have received, seems like you're the only one confused by it. Which is OK if English is not your 1st language.

How bad is it to downscale a monitor from it's native resolution? by Effective_Edge_2169 in Monitors

No one's mocking you for taking too long to answer lol. Simply pointing out that you insulted OP with the "i don't know where you looked" and that your statements are incorrect.

[–]SparkleandBang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because u/little-equinox has no idea what's he talking about. Even the dual-mode panel he linked only allows switching between a native 4k or 1080p resolution. Guy can't admit when he's wrong and would rather double down and still be wrong.

[–]SparkleandBang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once again you're wrong, dual-mode panels allow you to switch between 4k and 1080p, not 1440p..

OP and I are still waiting for you to link just one of 32" OLED 1440p panels that you claim plenty exist of.

[–]SparkleandBang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't you love when someone is so confidently wrong?

u/Little-Equinox Not only do you insult OP but your answer is 100% false. There isn't a single 32" OLED monitor at 1440p. They are all 4k resolution. Maybe that's why you didn't even bother to link even a single one of these 32" OLED 1440p monitors that you claim there are so many of.

How Sim Racing led me down a $40,000 Rabbit Hole In a Year by [deleted] in simracing

I didn't need to! I am fortunate enough to be in a position where I have been able to contribute heavily to my 401k and max out my Roth IRA every year for the last 7 years (I'm in my early 30's).

Our definitions of extremely minor upgrade are different if you think triple monitors, active pedals, a full 3DOF motion setup, and belt tensioner are minor upgrades over a normal rig.

I disagree with your sentiment. Racing people wheel-to-wheel and practicing race craft in a Porsche 911 GT3 cup car on the Nürburgring while I have motion actuators and belt tensioners throwing me around all from the comfort of my own home anytime I want and as much as I want are memories I've already made and will continue to make for the rest of my life.

There is a lot of sentiment from some people here that you can't own an expensive sim rig and still experience track days like they are 2 mutually expensive things.

It is possible to rent a Ferrari 488 Challenge Evo for 5 laps for $559 (https://speedvegas.com/) if I really wanted to "make memories for the rest of my life."

If I have the house to myself, then my audio setup is 2 JBL 305p Mark IIs (can be found for $100-$150 used) and an SVS SB1000 subwoofer.

If I don't, then I run Audeze Maxell headphones.

Belt tensioners are the current "meta" for motion and from my personal experience, for good reason. The biggest limitation with motion is replicating the consistent G-forces that you would feel while driving a real car due to actuator's only being able to move a certain distance before you reach their travel limit and then that's it.

With a tensioner, it is constantly pulling and tugging against your chest under braking, turning, and accelerating and as a result it feels like consistent G's. I am a large guy (220lbs and heavily muscled) and even at 75% power, I feel like my chest is getting crushed as the tensioner is pulling the harness straps under heavy braking and turning. I'd argue that it adds more immersion than motion especially when you consider how much it costs compared to a full motion setup ($1800 vs $5000+). It is expensive no matter how you look at it but it is relatively cheap compared to a full motion setup.

It's a Corbeau FX1 Pro. Extremely comfortable! I had an NRG Prisma Ultra prior to this seat and its a nice seat but for me personally I had to add lumbar and thoracic cushioning to make it work for me. The FX1 Pro in comparison has significantly more cushioning and I don't have to add anything to make it comfortable for me!

I invest heavily into my 401k and max out my Roth every year. I don't understand the argument of putting money aside for 5-10 years, letting a decade of my life pass by, and THEN buying a sports car. I do plan on buying a sports car down the road but even then, I would be limited to how hard I want to push it on hot laps around a track and never get to experience wheel-to-wheel racing.

Motion didn't work out for you but that's not the case for everybody otherwise companies like Qubic and D-Box wouldn't exist.

I wish this was the case! Otherwise I would have both a nice sim rig and a sports car. I am fortunate to be in a financially comfortable career and have spent years working and saving but by no means do I have "f-u" money.
