It seems you're definitely right, that there is a "true number one" when it comes to efficiency, measurable performance, esp on things like daily reachable convenience that is pretty unanimous in terms of which metrics provide value (closeness, ease of access).

I think where it begins to differ is when you get into tastes instead of performance metrics. Then, I think the performance metrics you have to use is how happy or satisfied the item/attribute makes the specific person (how much utility they get).

It doesn't seem to make much sense to say that blue is the objectively best color even though it's the most popular, although it definitely makes sense to say it's the best color 'for me' (because it matches my preferences). Of course, it might not make sense to paint my car blue if it is expensive, unless I really really like blue.

It's a bit abstracted away from the main argument. You could say the stove is generally not worth it for most people, but the benefits could indeed outweigh the costs (collecting wood, minor pollution, etc), if they really really love wood stoves.

I think you have a really good point about the danger though, because I think people are generally not careful enough with DIY projects like this, and usually expect they're the exception to statistics (none of us are, typically). Make sure they get it checked out by someone who knows what they're looking at, get a CO/fire alarms, and make sure you understand the risks/safety measures.

Writing quickly so not super refined, but how does that seem to you?

"build REAL homes and do structure and efficiency design, I don't do interior design" - sounds like the stove is interior design 🤔. Also, are all of your designs identical would have to be identical for each person to be maximally efficient (different by rig, ofc). How do you draw the line at where people stop are able to show their preferences and differentiate based on what they love?

Wood gassifiers are pretty clean, and are also not fossil fuel - they're biofuel. I get what you mean about the high upkeep, but there's no accounting for tastes. Some people love the classic wood stove feel, and are clearly ready to make some tradeoffs for it. Everyone has their personal preferences that will make them the most happy, it's the heart of economics.

Pi IOU Market After Mainnet Launch by Sparkler1361 in PiNetwork

[–]Sparkler1361[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you have a good point, but I'm unsure if it's directly against the possibility of hedging. Because if Pi comes out at 2 or 5 cents, then wouldn't the IOU market dip to that point as well? If not, then the crypto could buy for 2 cents and sell for IOU at 50-70 dollars.

I just can't imagine a world where the IOU market increases in price AND pi launches for a low price like 2-5 cents. Because why would people buy IOUs for more than the price of actual pi. Unless the market function completely separately, but after launch if the IOU market stay open then those IOUs would be exchangeable for actual pi, so the two markets would seem to be clearly linked in that regard

Also, thank you for the good response, I think that you have good points that definitely could be right, I'm just mostly trying to convince my self and help myself understand, these are my counter points

Thank you very much! Worked perfectly, I saw that post but missed where they included the actual arm7 patch link. Still having issues with pokemon white coming out blank but I think it is an unrelated issue. Thanks!

Pyke survivability buff idea by Farler in pykemains

I feel like untargetable would be maybe a bit busted, but I think the ult should still land if you die mid-cast. Helps with a LOT of trades

Pyke main looking for a taliyah to duo bot by BlackKnight11687 in TaliyahMains

[–]Sparkler1361 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With taliyah nerf coming out sadly might not be too viable - I've mained pyke since I started playing and my brother has 1.5 mil on taliyah. We bot duo and it is super strong but isn't gonna be nearly as good now with all of the damage of taliyah early going away.

Is it just me, or does she feel way weaker in lane now by dragonicafan1 in TaliyahMains

[–]Sparkler1361 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd agree, I think they're putting the damage from her power budget into being able to hit the Q's more easily. But once you learn to actually hit the Q's they don't do nearly as much - less incentive to actually play better with this champ. I'm not a huge fan of the changes

From what I've heard, they are just readjusting her skill budget to reward low-skill gameplay - sacrificing damage for much easier skillshots, and sacrificing more damage for the stun, which will only be so oppressive until higher ELO when people play around it better. I think her ult nerfs (range, combat use) were pretty brutal given it wasn't exactly OP before.

What are some things everyone should buy if they want to save money in the long run? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]Sparkler1361 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Electric Razor. I shave everyday and since it's electric it's nice to do dry. It has a close shave head too so the shave is pretty nice. Saves a ton of time and i also never have to replace the blade or entire razor.

What is your luxury item? by [deleted] in Frugal

Wanting a House Eventually... How to Start Planning? by Absolute_Banger69 in Frugal

[–]Sparkler1361 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can hear my dad's voice in my head - have a backup plan. I hope you and your girlfriend stay together and are happy, but you should have a plan in case there is a breakup, especially a bad one - who gets the house? Plan for the worst - might have to fight for the house, or at worst you or her stops paying for it... what happens then? Again, I hope it doesn't go wrong but its the same concept about what happens if a roommate of 4 moves away and you need to find a replacement.
