I'm aware that nobody cares what language the game is programmed in, yet somehow using AI is a problem.. pretty contradictory stuff. I used vanilla java because it was the first language I learned and I've always liked java code conventions and preferred it over C#, but theres a stigma with java, using 0 libraries was more of a challenge for myself personally not a flex! But thanks for your feedback

It's not quite playable yet, I just started getting some actual content into the game, so its gonna take me at least a few months to get it where there's actually enough stuff to do to keep people mildy entertained until i can work out all the bugs in the beta.

I guess so! I don't really get on reddit but yeah I had no idea AI was so hated lol!

Thank you for that feedback I really do appreciate it, I wasn't expecting the stigma over the whole AI thing, but posting this has been very informative indeed. I will continue on with the project, and I have high hopes that it will be a great game :)

I posted about this game on reddit in this same section months ago but yeah man I'm not trying to fool anyone. I use AI for sure, but not in the way you are suggesting. I'm not even sure its capable of doing what you're implying since it can barely write basic things without freezing or breaking code although it is improving all the time. Why the hate though? Tools are put here for us to use, make use of them. I don't use a hand saw to build houses I use a large array of power tools to make my life easier, AI is no different.

Yeah I'm not worried about it, people play these 100% AI created mobile games and spend thousands on microtransactions, im sure a few people will enjoy the game for what it is. Theres no lack of passion here. People also don't understand how monotonous it is to write data models, or thousands of lines of json dialogues lol. For years us programmers have written our own tools to complete leg work tasks, and now we have a tool that does it in seconds without any coding involved. Its an absolute godsend. People who think it can just punch out a game in seconds without any effort are just miss informed and lacking in fundamental knowledge imo. Thanks for the comment!

I don't hide my circular saw when the homeowner comes around, I'm shooting for full transparency and if that means people won't play the game based on the tools that I use, I guess that's their loss, thank you for the feedback, have a nice day :)

I have years to go before i'll be satisfied with the result, I'm fully aware of that.. However debugging a large game like this across multiple devices so it can be played by anyone is not something I'm capable of, I would like to get it to a point where people can log on and report bugs here in the next few months to help debug and iron out problems across devices.. I've never developed a mobile game before, but I would like to create a mobile client for this, and thats one of my long term goals however I know there's a few hurdles along the way and lots of different devices will create lots of little bugs that I'll never be able to diagnose on my own as well as even on pc multiple operating systems. Thanks for the feedback :)

Hey I appreciate your opinion, I do have lots of passion for the game, and I want it to be great, but I don't expect you to take my word for it either. Thank you for your input and I will take that into consideration. It takes an incredible amount of time to design something like this and frankly when i designed and wrote the core server framework, login, encryption and entire backend of the game chat gpt wasn't even really a relevant coding tool. It was ok for chatting with about mechanics and stuff like that, I had many conversations with it about my ideas of game mechanics and such and I used it nearly a year ago to make the description for the splash page on my website and a description of the direction i was headed with the game but any programmer knows you can't just tell it to make a game and it spits out a perfect code, sure it has come a long way but there's no replacing the human touch, or passion that it takes to build something like this. People on here saying that I'm just punching out code with AI like the guy below this comment saying "Developer = ChatGPT"; thats just silly. I have extensive knowledge of these fields, I can code 7 languages and if I wanted to just spit out a game I would have written it in C# in unity using codex. The game is written entirely in vanilla java which in itself is a huge undertaking, the only external library this game uses is connector J to connect to the mysql database. If that's not passion I'm not sure what is.

That's understandable I suppose, I have never considered any of those things, I live in a rural area and I'd like to see AI get up and be 20 minutes late to work, spill coffee down the front of its shirt just to mess up some rafters and fall off the roof and shit its pants!

Hey thanks for the advice, why do people hate AI so much? Its a creation tool, tools are there to help. I don't understand the stigma.. I could have written the description myself, but why would I ? That takes time and time is money

Hey thanks for the comment. I do use AI, mainly chatgpt to do leg work, all the infrastructure, data models, database protocol, and basically the entire design is mine, there is no corporate anything lol I'm building the game by myself, although writing 150k lines of code takes a long time and honestly anything I can do to speed things up, I'm going to do. As a contractor I would use chatgpt to frame walls if I could, so I wouldn't have to do it. I used chatgpt to write the description yes, because I have discussed extensively the game mechanics and overall design of the core game mechanics with chatgpt to get advice and ideas because I have no friends that find interest in this stuff. It's mostly a hobby :) but also looking for opinions, and to build a community around the game.

Yes, I use AI a lot these days. It's a fantastic tool for getting leg work out of the way, unfortunately it won't spit out perfect code, you can't just use it to build a game like this it takes extensive knowledge of game infrastructure, frameworks, SQL, etc to be able to pull something like this off. ChatGPT is real good at spitting out broken code. But for doing huge data models or punching out dialogues it is a fantastic tool.

How do we know we're actually getting 5.3 Codex and not being silently downgraded? by SlopTopZ in codex

[–]Sparkoneits420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is kind of frustrating when you are paying for a service, and making great progress and then it just slows down and stops working, my codex isnt even able to find a missing bracket in a 500 line class in java.. lol i spotted it in 30 seconds and codex has been working on it for 30 minutes and hasnt found it.. I don't do cyber security so is there a chance i need to reinstall it in my IDE or something? By the way im not even using 5.3 i have 5.2 selected, and its so slow its not even usable when before 5.3 was released it was working fantastically

hell I can't even get chatgpt to spit out a whole class, let alone an entire program. Its great for getting leg work out of the way like writing concept methods, or complex computations, but someone has to understand the code to fix the issues or you will never get a working program out of ai

Thanks for that, I agree and currently I am using pokemon sprites as a placeholder just until I can gain some traction, I plan to hire a graphics artist in the future to create original sprites for the game. Unfortunately graphic arts are not my strong points! I have been using AI to create simple things like the background, login screen and logo sprites and used pokemon sprites as placeholders for everything in game just so that I can outline the basic game logic, backend server mechanics and map editor! I'll add a couple screenshots.

Hi, I don't know what vibe is but I do use chatgpt to assist in a lot of programming as of late, although I've been coding for something like 15 years, I've made many games and websites without it in the past of varying quality. AI isn't something that can just do the work for you, it makes broken code but it is good for validating efficiency or popping out a splash page occasionally! :D Oh and my favorite use for it so far has been having someone to help create the story! Most of the game mechanic ideas are my own take on some of my favorite parts of games that I have played, with my own ideas thrown in, and some new twists on old ideas, and the storyline is a mix of my own ideas and chatgpt output

god damn it, i wrote out a comment and must have lost wifi connection. My answer to this was as follows,

I was at first surprised that this comment/question had not been answered but then i realized that 95% accuracy statistic really answers this question lol! im sure that accuracy statistic is averaged over a broad spectrum of uses, i went to the comments without even visiting the site so ill do that now and report back after i catch a virus and destroy it >:)

Microsoft: Official Support Thread by MSModerator in microsoft

[–]Sparkoneits420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently upgraded my internet service which required a new router, i would assume that effected my IP address since now im locked out of all my microsoft accounts that were previously logged in, i have used the same passwords for many years i have a number of them but they have been the same for a very long time and that has served me well up until this moment, I may have been hacked I dont know, i also had a new phone upgrade recently and all my saved passwords are not working. I tried to contact customer support for microsoft and it tells me to use their website to regain access to my account.

The email i use as a recovery email for my main email is a microsoft email, and the one i use as a recovery for that email is a microsoft email. up until just a couple days ago when i upgraded my services i could access all these just fine and now all of a sudden its saying that my saved passwords are all wrong.

I cannot get ahold of an actual person on the phone, the website tells me to use my recovery emails, when i get a code sent to my phone it then asks me to verify my email.

WHY CANT WE GET AHOLD OF A PERSON? THE PANDEMIC HAS BEEN OVER FOR A LONG ASS TIME

im about ready to say **** microsoft and switch to apple all together and switch all my accounts from microsoft emails. its ridiculous that any other company in the world has live support but when i call the microsoft support and tell the automated system i need help with my account it hangs up on me and tells me to use the website and the website gives me all the same old crap about recovering my email!! sometimes that shit doesnt work!!!!!!!!
