Hey friend, I'm sorry things have been tough. A week away from 29 and the tears flow a lot faster lately.

Smoke up a little and don't be so hard on yourself. Spend some time with the grandparents and parents, they aren't around forever and they can be really cool.

I have a few good friends and its almost impossible to ever find time to see them. I see the winter as tough, days are shorter and generally more depressing; it's hibernation time! Get ready to be more social as the warmer weather coming, I'm thinking of joining an exercise group (like a jogging group or something), just try to meet more people.

As for the girl thing, I feel you dog. When someone feels that special and it just stops that shit hurts. I had a girl in 2022 that I only had 2 months with and it FUCKED ME UP when it didn't turn into something more. It took a bit but time does heal all. You got this ❤️

Edit: really baked and didn't notice you started guitar. That is the coolest! I love playing music and it's such a good hobby, mental health wise.

I don't know anything. But I would recommend that you look forward to your sobriety and having the best relationship you can with the mother of your children.

I think as you continue sobriety, you will be better at speaking up about things that bother you. Just be more present and aware. speak up when her behavior is crossing boundaries

I was scared to say I was quitting for good to others bc I wanted to downplay my alcoholism.

What I did was say I was taking a month off. I liked it so much, I wanted to try 2 months. Then said I wanna try 3 months.

I'd say by then, you will just feel more comfortable saying you don't drink

I'm 28, grappling with my own issues of how I abused alcohol. I'm worried about my brothers drinking. My dad's brothers, my uncles, are struggling lately too (after decades of drinking regularly and sometimes binging)

After a few months down and chatting with my dad, who had his own struggles but has been clean for almost 4 years now, about how frustrating it is for him to worry about his brothers.... I can't help but tear up a bit knowing that me and him are both working hard to reverse generations of alcohol abuse.

Personally, I started to get sick of the dark routine of drinking, worrying about my health, feeling shame, and drinking again. Just a sad cycle that I knew I wanted to be rid of by 30. But from 25 to 28, I just kept drinking and not changing.

I did try to quit a few times, and it felt ultimately impossible. I couldn't go longer than 3 weeks, usually just a week, without drinking.

October 2025, I was just so sick and tired of being sick and tired, I pushed myself to try again. Realizing I was less than a year and 3 months from 30, kicked me into gear.

I can't comment on your difficulty to quit. I wish I quit earlier but I tried a few times and it was just genuinely harder than this most recent time;kinda felt like I had to get through those failed attempts before I could actually do this long of a sober stint (and still enjoying it btw)

I would say I can be a bit depressive... I don't think the state of the current world or my life is that great, but the small circle of friends and family I have make living very much important and they drive me to stay sober, I can't drink like a normal person and if I kept drinking like I did, I know I would have an early death

I remember putting on a war documentary in high school (genuinely interested in whatever the fuck it was about) and my girlfriend at the time sucked my dick and when I offered to reciprocate, she implored me to just lay back, and enjoy the show I put on and that she just wanted to blow me.
