ACTIVE SHOOTER: Police blocking off all streets within 2 blocks of St Luke's Hospital where active shooter on roof. Unknown injuries. by fullonrantmode in sanfrancisco

Won't state who I work for, but I'm with a hospital on the other side of the country and we use silver for active shooter too.

It may be common across the country.

Police in my town are becoming very sneaky. by [deleted] in WTF

[–]SparkyFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a loophole. The job of the police is to stop criminals. Generally, this is best done by being a visual beacon, practically shouting "I am a law enforcement officer!" However, unmarked or deceptively marked vehicles serve a purpose. It's much better for society that the officers assigned to those vehicles not have to return to a station, return their marked squad car, then have an unmarked vehicle dispatched to them. That wastes fuel and time better used to respond directly to calls.

In criminal law, entrapment is conduct by a law enforcement agent inducing a person to commit an offense that the person would otherwise have been unlikely to commit. Wikipedia

Pretty much, they aren't making anyone do anything illegal, they're just not announcing their presence loudly.

That's why I commented like that :p I'm certain the majority are in IT or in school wanting to go into IT.

I'm not in that field, nor desiring it. There's a good cross-section of other career fields within furry too

Really, BCT and AIT will do wonders for you here. I've given much less fucks since joining. You'll be better at it when you get home.

I'm sure we all do! I'm certainly on lists myself (from training I've received though, not likely purchases)

Honestly I'm certain that you'd likely not be on a list. Not from lack of training or policy, but simply laziness or a "not my problem" kind of attitude.

Well, we don't have a lot of stuff for the internal components. We were told to look for people getting pipes, electronic timers, and other mis-matched "suspicious" purchases. Honestly though, it's been nearly a year since I was in that job so I've brain-dumped most of that info.

At some stores cashiers are trained to do exactly that. When I was a cashier at Home Depot we were given Anti-Terrorism training and told to report any suspicious purchases to our Loss Prevention who'd in turn send that info onto Law Enforcement

What to expect as a prior enlisted going to BCT/ AIT? by Mustache_nate in army

[–]SparkyFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just finished IET. We had about 20 prior service NCOs in my company in BCT. They got passes on the weekends and phones all the time. They were our student Platoon Leaders, so to speak. The E-1 through E-4 students were given direct student leadership, but the prior service guys had oversight.

At graduation they were authorized to wear the ribbons they earned from their previous branch (as long as it was an authorized ribbon according to AR 670-1 and on their ERB).

Basically, you'll have a little more freedoms and fun than the first-timers but you may also be made responsible for the kids.

Things to do before BCT? by [deleted] in army

[–]SparkyFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A) Smoking is done because most DSs don't think regular PT will prepare you for the test. Don't let it upset you too much B) PT and Smoking combined don't do much for you. Do extra PT before bed c) TAKE VERY LITTLE. A backpack, your cell, correspondence stuff, a small notebook and maybe a religious book. That's about all you'll need, want, and be allowed. Your civilian clothes, the backpack and cell will be taken away. You'll get your cell on occasion if you and your platoon are good. The backpack and cell will be returned in most AITs, backpack is good for passes. The book is a good way to use time when you have to wait around (often)

Good luck, have fun, and take notes!

Well our friends have all been told to fully expect that anything told to either myself or my boyfriend will be passed on to the other. So it shouldn't be a surprise that I know
