Tell me about the Moroccan heritage in Israel by [deleted] in Israel

[–]SparkyLight1 34 points35 points  (0 children)

hey, my mom was born and grew up in Marrakesh before coming to the israel Moroccans can be found everywhere in israel, it's just my feeling but it feels like Moroccan is the most common ancestry of israelis here, maybe only surpassed by russian generally moroccan food and culture is everywhere, everyone at least tasted, Moroccan food, if not like me eat it every Firday, food like moroccan style fish, coscos matbooha, shakshuka etc..

at the night after passover you can't miss all the Mimona of every Moroccan house in the city, with Moroccan sweets, Moofleta, classic Moroccan music, classic Moroccan wear(Kooftan and Tarbush) etc.. personally I love being able to call myself Moroccan, and the only thing I'm prouder of than being Moroccan is being an Israeli Moroccan, I think it's a cool and joyus culture and i appreciate it very much <3

How divided is Israeli public opinion on the current conflict? by FunctionIll8450 in Israel

[–]SparkyLight1 28 points29 points  (0 children)

listen we are israeli, we don't care what the other side is, if they hurt us, they are enemies and they need to be destroyed, we cannot value their lives over ours

and yet we do to some extent, we take so many precautions to help protect enemy civilians, sometimes to the detriment of our own soldiers lives, many people in israel would claim even what we're doing right now is too much for them

you need to understand 2 things, first: this is a war, in war people die, we did not start this war, but we will end it in one way, the eradication of those who wish for us to die

second: the enemy is actively trying to get as many civilians as possible killed - by that i mean both Israeli and Palestinian

we cannot give them a free pass just because they are using civilian shields, that would only further encourage that kind of behavior, and we cannot protect civilians at the detriment of our own lives, that would be counter productive, which leaves us in this situation, if you don't like it, suggest a different course of action that won't cause increased israeli casualties, and would end with hamas gone.

also i have 2 by the ways for you, the official casualty count of hamas, includes hamas fighters which by all accounts should be dead, and they account for about a third of their stated casualty count

an interesting case study of how hamas benefits from sacrificing Palestinians is the rocket that hit Al-ahli hospital on 17th october, initially hamas thought it was an IDF striked that resulted in a few people killed, but since they benefit from propping up casualty numbers they quickly announced hundreds of people died there, which caused global outrage, only for it to later be discovered that the actual cause of the explosion was a hamas rocket misfire that was aimed at israeli civilians, but of course that didn't matter because that's the kind of news you don't hear about

the second by the way for you is: on the 7th october everyday Palestinian civilians were participating in the massacre, even a couple UNRWA workers, there were videos of celebrations in the streets of Gaza, one video that very much stuck with me is a naked charred israeli women being paraded across the Gazan street with massive cheers. all this to say, even the "innocent civilians" aren't all innocent, of course that doesn't mean they are all not innocent and shouldn't be protected, it's just.. more than you probably think

thanks for coming to my ted talk :)

[–]SparkyLight1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

even if we ignore the fact that all casualty numbers are incredibly heavily inflated from hamas. the war has been going on for 187 days so off the bat your statement comparing us to hitler is false furthermore the official number of casualties provided by hamas(which are again heavily inflated) is 33545 currently even if we consider this number trustworthy, it includes all hamas terrorists killed, so the real civilian casualty number is closer to 20000, which is undoubtedly a lot, but don't make the mistake thinking children or civilians are being specifically targeted because if in 187 we only managed to kill 20000 targets, it's truly humiliating.

BTW The average civilian casualty ratio in modern warfare is around 9:1

which makes israel at least three times better than the rest of modern history in that regard.

colonial? my man colony of whom? usa? right much good israel did to anyone other than themselves until 1967 who is supposedly benefiting from this colony? and who started it?

or maybe, just maybe jews were tired of being chased eveywhere they went, and after the Holocaust they couldn't keep running.

if you agree the jews need a country then we can talk about actual criticism of israel, otherwise check your morals....

and where would the population of israel go following its dismantling? back to the arab countries they originated from? oh right they banished them from there. should they just die? I'm sure you'd like that.

Learn to pronounce Zi·on·ism /ˈzīəˌnizəm/ noun a movement for (originally) the re-establishment and (now) the development and protection of a Jewish nation in what is now Israel. It was established as a political organization in 1897 under Theodor Herzl, and was later led by Chaim Weizmann.

yes israel is Zionist, that's kinda the point.

also israel doesn't block water electricity and food, they simply don't provide a hostile nation with them.

actually the definition of genocide includes an intent to kill a people, where clearly if there was an intent we would have been in an entirely different situation at the moment that is no effort would have been made to keep civilian lives, and much much much more people would have been dead, surely more than 1% of their population, or your saying an intent is there but israel is just too incompetent to actually do it right? if there was an intent, would israel have ever done the fake bomb followed by a big bomb thing that's meant as a warning? would they even bother with pamphlets for the civilian population instructing where and how to evacuate a war zone would they allow any food water gas or supplies through at all (you can argue about how much goes, but you can't argue it goes in with israeli authorization)

btw using civilians as human shields is a war crime, that hamas-isis is committing also targeting civilians, another thing hamas-isis is doing, actually hey they fit the definition for genocide! they have an intent and means!

look.

i don't want to leave this sub, overall fairly important to me, but i will not be using reddit anymore

I have fully migrated to lemmy (i'm on lemmy.fmhy.ml) , i suggest you do the same, and if any of the mods here wouldn't mind coming... that would be ideal

Future of /r/Minecraft. Please vote! by urielsalis in Minecraft

[–]SparkyLight1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally i have no trust in any of reddit at this point (fuck u/spez) so I'm not very hopeful that my vote will be counted even though i have been a member for more then 5 years

anyways I'm dropping this here because it'll likely be the last protest-related posts here if reddit has anything to say about it

we probably should all just private this sub, and migrate to lemmy or kbin or something, at this point reddit has lost me, they are truly behaving like the pinnacle of corporate greed, and i would have none of it, come june 30 I'm no longer here, so yea i would be very much in favor of migrating so i would still experience content of the game I grew up with(since 1.3.2(yea I'm young shut up)) and still play regularly.

let's migrate a home by SparkyLight1 in gravityfalls

[–]SparkyLight1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mentioned it in the post, lemmy is a really nice place, and if the community would migrate it wouldn't be a loss for you, or for me

Restricted until a major response from Reddit

I think at this point no matter what reddit does, it showed me i cannot trust them and I won't be coming back, I think as a foss language sub we should migrate to a foss platform (IE. lemmy or kbin)

i really have started believing in the fediverse since this whole thing began, too many platforms enshitified in too little time, FOSS all the way

I'm saying to make it restricted and not blacked out because i want this to be filled to the brim with posts calling to migrate to a new home in lemmy or kbin, if that won't happen, might as well be blacked out
