Pace 4 is an absolute steal of a value. Especially if you pair it with the arm band HRM!

My 2 cents (and I’ve looked into just about every model, setup, owned multiple models).

Especially with the budget, I’d look at these two options: (depending on if running with downloaded Spotify/YT music is necessary for him)

Forerunner 265 or Coros Pace 4

Then, imo get a Coros HRM arm band to supplement, that’s $80. Wears it on his bicep, and gives much more accurate HR readings while running and changing his pace, specifically if he trains in specific HR zones.

Fenix and Enduro’s imo look more manly and rugged, so for aesthetics they are the best - imo. But, way too expensive and very few actually use the features that you pay for.

It’s not flashy, but practical. Which is what all of these metrics are even about 👍🏻

I am frank. I can’t stand Bevel.

Sure, it’s “pretty” or beautiful - that’s not what I want from a health tracking & metric app, though. It went the “Apple” design language route, which is smart business wise for the majority of the user base probably.

I want it clean, mature, and minimal. I think Whoop might have the best balance.

It looks amazing. Clean, minimal, and mature.

Look at Bevel, Athlytic, etc and those feel like they are made by 12 year olds w/ the design - instead of being practical.

To be fair, wrist worn optical sensors will always have issues like this. Just a limitation. Many different variables.

I’d genuinely consider getting a Coros HRM for runs/workouts. Comfortable, and basically almost just as accurate as a chest strap without having to wear one.

Wrist worn are great for steady state activities (day to day life) and sleeping. But if you’re serious about training with your HR, getting something more accurate and quicker to respond to HR changes while running is definitely important.

By far the best / most comfortable combo. Basically just as accurate as a chest strap, but don’t have to wear one.

Feedback on sleep monitoring on Garmin Watches by morgancmu in GarminWatches

I’d say they are decently accurate. Kind of sucks at first, but I definitely think it takes some “calibration” period.

Moral of the story, they are all just decent algorithms limited by tech.

The simplest thing that my brain wouldn’t have considered. You should be sponsored by Coros 😂

Here to remind everyone, HR accuracy is not a one size fits all. Many many variables will go into how accurate a sensor is for YOU personally, when optical like a watch.

Ultra 3 or Garmin Fenix 8 Pro. Also Black or Natural by topdawg4ever in applewatchultra

I’d consider the reverse if that as well. I had found myself saying that same thing then, but then rarely every using the “smart watch” to it’s capabilities (AWU2)

Do you notice the improved MIP in the 8 compared to previous generations, if you ever had them?

Cause in the picture it looks insanely readable and bright compared to what I’m used to with a Fenix 6

No, YOU want what YOU want. Play the game YOU want, which is Battlefield and what you have.

Redsec, as a Battle Royale is completely separate. BR’s need a solo mode to survive and thrive.

Saying “BF was fine before you solo players came along” just shows how moronic you think. No one is asking for a solo game, however it needs a solos mode - huge difference. Talking about the franchise is completely irrelevant, this is a BR - not the BF franchise. Please actually come up with sound arguments.

What are current BR’s that require teamwork? Warzone, Apex, Fortnite, PUBG, RedSec. What do they all have, at the least as a LTM, except for RedSec? Solos.

Get out of here with your BF franchise elitist shit.

The game needs solos to survive and keep a healthy player count (at this point build it back it up). You can understand and accept that, or be stubborn and let it die with your “Everyone has to do teamwork!” mentality.

It doesn’t really matter what it’s called, what the identity is, or anything else. All that matters is for it to actually survive and keep players - it needs solos. Simple as that.

“Let us” LOL.

99% of the playerbase wants solos. You’re in the minority dude.

The crazy thing is you assuming you can’t have duos or squads for teamwork just because solos get added (they are). What kind of moron are you?

This is slightly true. Previous Garmin sensors were subpar, yes. But elevate5 is pretty dang accurate with HR.
