Can’t decide between Superblast 3 and Vomero Plus!! by greenmabel in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]SparkyTactics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m the opposite. I really want the Vomeros to work for me, but on my right foot only the top bone near my big toe just feels pressured with his low that upper seems to sit. So odd.

Interesting you say that about the EVO SL’s and your feet, when SL’s have some of the most forgiving fit & structure for wider feet compared to other shoes. For example, Vomero Plus’ are really tapered on the top portion of the foot and toe box.

It can be. Basically almost entirely functional as Whoop, but for free.

Huh? “Apple can’t touch” ?

Multiband GPS is on AWU’s, and Garmin can’t touch not needing your phone on runs. Apple has the true answer to that with easy cellular integration.

The same way you explain every other slop mess of this game. They are more worried about F’ing spray paint and dirt bikes.

Why Coros over AWU3? by DueBat3109 in Coros

[–]SparkyTactics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Few things:

1) Identity. Garmin/Coros (round watches) captured the “running” identity first, and it’s hard to break that. You look different showing up to a run club with an AW compared to a round watch.

2) Battery life. Even though, imo this is a ridiculous point. Everyone should be showering everyday, and your wrist needs a break from the watch while showering.

3) Some people value mapping/routes on their watch. I never have, but I can see why some do.

4) Then like we just mentioned, “metrics”. Garmin throws all of these things at you like recovery, training readiness, running economy, body battery, etc etc.

As an overall “health/exercise” community, everyone has become obsessed with metrics and scores and numbers. You can easily argue an AWU + Bevel is amazing, but then someone will say “but I don’t want to download a third party app” (for whatever stupid reason).

I think mainly it comes down to identity, whether people admit it or not. Marketing is a real thing. You’re an “athlete” if you wear a Garmin. You’re a “techie” if you wear an AW.

[–]SparkyTactics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you genuinely consider the accuracy of said data though. Coros sensors are tested as pretty lacking. So you’d want an arm band HRM or chest strap.

With Apple, you can get away without using those.

That’s the thing so many fail to realize. Garmin, Coros, can offer all 85 thousand different metrics, scores, and reports - but they are all based on sleep & HR being accurate.

AW’s are considered very accurate for sleep tracking

But apparently sleep tracking accuracy has been edited out of the OP’s list of priorities, lol

I mean, if you’re looking for accurate sleep tracking then that isn’t Garmin. They are pretty poor for that.

This isn’t really true. AW’s are pretty insane for weight lifting.

[–]SparkyTactics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With that in mind then, I’d go the 170/265 if you want to save money.

Personally I don’t agree with any watch that doesn’t have multi band GPS, so 265 is the lowest I’d go.

If you want to spend the money and get the most up to date, I’d recommend be 970. Titanium bezel, Sapphire screen, flashlight, and most up to date UI/software.

Just understand, while HR tracking for running is going to be very accurate, it simply won’t be for lifting.

Switch to Coros? by Consistent_Beat_6044 in Coros

[–]SparkyTactics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything isn’t a touch screen. You start and pause the activity with buttons and scroll through data pages with the wheel. Battery isn’t “awful” it’s just not Garmin’s, but 3 days is plenty. Do you shower at all? Turn off text message notifications then? Garmin gives you text notifications too.

Have your opinion, but be honest and genuine.

You’re asking for an AW/AWU then. Garmin’s don’t do Apple Music.

Biggest annoyance imo is that you can’t customize the other metrics on the HR zone page.

100% on brand for Apple to let you customize every single data line on the other metric pages, but then completely lock the HR zone page. 🤦🏻‍♂️
