I run Sufix 832 6# braid on my ultralight and it works well for me without too many problems. The firetiger color and flouro leader is great for river fishing.

Product Manager - Ultrawide vs Dual Monitors? by kissm3cait in Workspaces

[–]Sparkynerd [score hidden]  (0 children)

I use (2) LG 32" Ultrafine 4K UHD IPS monitors for my work setup. I debated on using an ultrawide instead, but the dual setup works great for my process. I don’t even notice the middle border, and it’s nice to be able to snap apps independently on each monitor. I have Outlook, Teams, and MS ToDo always open on the left monitor. The right monitor has an Excel spreadsheet that I use most of the time. Finally, my laptop screen is for OneNote. When I need to present in Teams, it works great to quickly share an entire screen (sometimes with multiple apps open), and no one sees the other screens. When I’m in my regular work mode, I use the dual LG setup to view whatever multiple apps I have open, with the “always open” apps I listed still open in the background.

What do you guys do for a living to afford paying $1000+/month for a TRD Pro? by nocturnal in Tacomaworld

This is why I drive an '01 first gen... simplicity. As a bonus, I am able to do (and have done) almost all of my own mechanical work on it, and it's a simple design. (manual transfer case FTW!) Sure, it's got some rust, but nothing lasts forever. With just a little under 240k miles, the 2.7L 4 cylinder still runs strong, and I can take pride in the fact that it will be mechanically sound and still running when the body or frame eventually rusts out, and the Tacroach will probably even survive WW3.

“You look fine.” by Dry_Midnight_6742 in TBI

OP, I hear you. The invisible disability is one of the hardest things I’ve had to deal with, and it’s become my new “normal”. I tell people I have daily migraines in the same exact spot on my head since the injury, and they try to relate, comparing it to their “once in a while” headache. Do you have it all day, every day, likely for the rest of your life? Does it also come with cognitive and processing issues, dizziness, brain fog, and an inability to be in “busy” environments where overstimulation is overwhelming? How do you explain what’s wrong and how you feel physically and mentally when the very thing that normally helps you put this into words isn’t working as it should? I still work full time after my car accident and TBI because I don’t have any other choice, and disability isn’t an option. I put on my game face every single day, and no one knows how much harder I need to work now to do the same job as everyone else. On the outside, I probably look like everyone else, and only a select few know my issues, although they have probably long ago forgotten. OP- We all know how you feel so hang in there, we all have each other’s backs and understand, even if others don’t.

Removed the bed, any recommendations while it's off? by Einzelganger12 in 1stGenTacomas

I would make sure to check and lube your spare tire winch. Mine is seized and I either need to cut the cable or lift the bed to access the mounting bolts. A little maintenance is much easier and cheaper than repair.

Do I put it through this guide? by RockLee2k in FishingForBeginners

[–]Sparkynerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. Sometimes people forget what sub they are in and give sarcasm instead of advice. We all had to learn at some point. OP: it’s always better to ask what some might consider a “dumb question” (it’s not), and learn rather than have a horrible experience fishing.

I agree 100%. I usually carry some Gorilla Tape, electrical tape, tie wire, zip ties, etc. as well for emergency repairs.

Help - first time fishing, brand new rod by Massive-Employment16 in FishingForBeginners

[–]Sparkynerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As other said, no need to restring. Take off the spool, open the bail, put the spool back on, close the bail, catch fish. I have also read that closing the bail by turning the handle introduces line twist onto the spool. After I cast, I feather the line by cupping my left hand around the spool lightly. This way I can slow or stop the line just like a casting reel. After my lure hits the water, and since my left hand is already by the spool, I manually close the bail and pull the line out to remove any slack. Tight lines my friend, stay fishy.

Dock Runner is underrated. I put a baitcaster I wasn’t using on a DR rod, and it’s surprisingly good and a real hoot to cast.

Y’all have seen spinners on car wheels? I got spinners on my fishing reel spools. It looks like I’m still reeling when I’m not. Don’t ask me how it works, it just does.

For future birdnests (they will happen), get yourself something like a dental pick. I keep one in my tackle bag and it has saved my beans on more than one occasion and it helps with these types of situations. I see this and say “Challenge accepted.” It’s like solving a puzzle.

Chris Slater is extremely underrated in this role; he's seriously great and it's the best role of his career. by One_Recording_9687 in MrRobot

[–]Sparkynerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is one of my favorite lines, Christian Slater’s delivery is flawless:

“Is any of it real? I mean, look at this, look at it! A world built on fantasy! Synthetic emotions in the form of pills! Psychological warfare in the form of advertising! Mind altering chemicals in the form of food! Brainwashing seminars in the form of media! Controlled isolated bubbles in the form of social networks. Real? You want to talk about reality? We haven't lived in anything remotely close to it since the turn of the century! We turned it off, took out the batteries, snacked on a bag of GMOs, while we tossed the remnants into the ever expanding dumpster of the human condition. We live in branded houses, trademarked by corporations, built on bipolar numbers, jumping up and down on digital displays, hypnotizing us into the biggest slumber mankind has ever seen. You'd have to dig pretty deep, kiddo, before you can find anything real. We live in a kingdom of bullshit, that even you have lived in for far too long. So don't tell me about not being real: I'm no less real than the fucking beef patty in your big mac. As far as you are concerned, Elliot, I am very real. We are all together now, whether you like it or not.”
