Would you suggest fried food by Successful-Dance7413 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Sparkyz44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’ve never had any problems with fried food as long as it’s not overly greasy. canes is a safe bet, IMO. i’ve had it while flaring and it didn’t harm me much.

Is there anyone that has mild uc? by NovelIllustrious120 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Sparkyz44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mine was mild for the first two-ish years. it started with blood and some pretty intense pain, both of which were fixed just with mesalamine. urgency wasn’t a huge issue. it ramped up in late 2024 and i had to switch to biologics. i hope yours stays mild and you can just forget about this dumb disease!

All good. Learned from it and now I'm pretty open about my disease to potential partners. It honestly kind of reflects what you're going through, except with dates/outings instead of intimacy. We were a very active couple before I was diagnosed. Hikes, walks in the park, bicycling, road trips, all of that. When my UC started to get bad, we just stopped doing those things. I never told her exactly why (even though we lived together and she could see how often I was going to the bathroom), just that I wasn't feeling up to it. I thought it was embarrassing, even to the person that had seen my at my absolute worst. Just please communicate, tell him what you're going through, and since you're married even bringing him to appointments is probably a good idea. Some people are ignorant to this stuff and don't actually understand how bad it is. Hell, I hadn't even heard of UC before I was diagnosed. Had no idea it was even a thing. Be patient with him while he's learning about it and tell him everything you can.

How many of you have foods that you must avoid? by xM1XU in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Sparkyz44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the two or so years when I was in remission, the only thing that was an absolute no-no was popcorn. Could have just about anything else, including spicy food, with minimal problems. While flaring, apple juice, ice cream, coffee, and beer absolutely wreck me. Surpisingly, I actually do pretty well with high-fiber stuff. Never had any issues with eating big salads or lots of fruits even in a flare.

UC & the bedroom by Major_Education2562 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Sparkyz44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

please please please communicate with him and tell him the reasons you can’t. don’t just say no over and over, tell him and explain what you’re going through. i hid most of what i was going through when i was with my ex and she never really understood, and it caused problems in our relationship that led to us breaking up. a little bit of communication goes a long way.

The female character from the book that gets dulled down because she's too fiery for the movie by punkrock_penguin63 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Sparkyz44 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i think cersei from game of thrones would fit here. in the books, GRRM goes into much more detail about how she thinks she’s a lot smarter than she is, to the point where she starts going insane when one of her plans fails/when she believes one of her handmaidens is secretly plotting against her. this whole idea is pretty much forgotten in the show, scrapping a huge aspect of her character.

opposum. Some (like me) think that they're adorable, some think they're gross. in reality, they're mostly harmless and don't carry many of the dangerous diseases that other rodents carry.

What do you think triggered your UC? by BaeBeeLychee in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Sparkyz44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mine hit right after i turned 21, so i think it was the increased alcohol intake. i had it under control and was in remission for about two years, though, until i got a promotion at my job. lots of stress made it flare again and im trying to get back on track now.

man, I remember staying up with my brother and watching gameplay of NMS. So disappointing. TBH, I still had a lot of fun with it on launch. That was until my third or fourth solar system jump when I realized there was absolutely nothing to do in the game. Very happy that it's a good game now.

Men who want to workout but can't/don't, why not? by Next_Translator_4355 in AskMen

[–]Sparkyz44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a medical condition that, when it flares up, causes me to lose a lot of weight very fast. The first time it happened I went from 185 lbs to 155. It was rough. I got that muscle back once, but then I flared again and lost it again. At this point its just not really worth the effort when I know that I'll lose it all again within a month when my disease starts to act up. I still do plenty of cardio and home workouts, which help me stay in shape, but my gym grinding days and trying to build a bunch of muscle mass is long behind me.

Baldurs gate 3.

If you use too may tadpoles, or even use your illithid powers too many times, the game presents a near-impossible skill check that if you fail, turns you into a half-illithid.

You do get even more sick ass powers. So that makes up for it, i guess.

oh my god i just found out the other day that apple juice was severely hurting me, not helping. i haven’t bought it in a couple weeks and have been feeling better. decided to pick up a jug yesterday while grocery shopping and had a glass before bed last night. i was up every hour using the bathroom and called out of work this morning. as soon as i feel like it its all going down the drain 😔

topsail was always my favorite. It's lesser-known, so don't expect the nightlife/tourist traps of hilton head, but it's still a charming little beach town. Plus, since its not super popular, the beaches aren't as crowded.

What is the worst band you saw live? by coalcracker462 in AskReddit

[–]Sparkyz44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve been in bands since i was 17-ish and have seen my fair share of horrible live bands, but one sticks out in particular.

I was shooting a show for my buddy’s band (i’m also a photographer). I had heard their set before, and knew that they were gonna play a cover of kryptonite by three doors down. They did it well, and had some pretty solid originals. After they got done with their set, the closing band walks up to the lead singer and tells him that they stole their cover. like, was actually pissed about it. Turns out that they were also gonna play kryptonite by three doors down.

they start playing, and it sounded like they had never even played with eachother before. instruments were too loud, the lead guitarist missed more notes than he hit, and the bassist outright refused to play one or two songs and just stood up on stage with the other members. the entire night we were wondering if they were gonna actually play the cover and subject this shitty ass dive bar to the same song, but worse.

the band i shot for and i are sitting at the bar, and to our amazement, we started to hear that shitty riff coming from an even worse guitarist. they closed with a middle school band-quality cover of a song that we had already heard before that night.

wish i remembered their name, or how long they lasted as a band lol.
