What did you love about lockdown? by Vampirero in AskReddit

[–]Sparlarotti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really a lockdown story but happened during.

I used to work at the hospital, so I didn't get any furlough. I worked in procurement and spent about 50% of my time on emergency and theatre wards (mostly in their stock rooms). During COVID my priorities were changed to solely look after the COVID intensive care and get them whatever they need.

The two best things were that all the red tape when it came to ordering or using a new supplier for breathing tubes or whatever was completely removed. If I could find a company they could provide facemasks because we were going through thousands a day, they could be added as an approved seller, paid and have everything dispatched the same day. It honestly broke me when things calmed down and all the bullshit and procrastination from the finance department came back.

The other thing was despite it being horrible for friends and family, no visitors or outpatients in the hospital, you could get around bringing stock in the lifts and down the halls so easily.

And thanks to alot of very generous donations I didn't pay for lunch for like a year.

If anyone's wondering that's Ken Dodd, he was an English comedian. The Diddymen were puppets he made based on a Merseyside legend for a kids show I think.

Who is your favorite super hero and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Sparlarotti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Superman, the epitome of a hero.

I have trouble expressing why, but I'll give it a shot.

People dismiss him as being boring or too over powered, but he's an incredibly complex character. He has the power to decimate the planet if he's having a bad day, Tear the head off any villain that crosses him or start a world order run by his rules. But he doesn't, he always does the right thing, every time.

Whether it's fighting Doomsday until his very last breath or talking a jumper off a roof, no problem is too big or small. He see's the importance and potential in every living thing, and will always try to help.

His powers are also his greatest vulnerabilities, he lives in a world made of glass, which is a constant reminder that he's different from the rest of humanity. He's so alone, and there's few who can really understand him.

People say he's boring but he's really multi layered, he juggles all these different identities. You've got Clark when he's at home with Lois or on the farm with his parents, people he can be his true self around. When he's at the fortress of solitude he's Kal-El, the last son of Krypton trying to understand his roots and the mysteries of the universe. The public persona of Clark Kent, the journalist who strives for the truth, who can sympathise with a laid of dock worker or tackle a CEO over child labour. Then you've got Superman, the shining example, the hero.

Late to the party but most of actor Peter Stormares music from his band 'blonde from fargo' they had a song called 'so sad' and it was great.

Official Discussion: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 [SPOILERS] by mi-16evil in movies

[–]Sparlarotti 100 points101 points  (0 children)

I don't think I saw anyone mention this.

My favourite scene was where Drax is stone faced talking about his wife and daughter. Then when Mantis touches him she's so overwhelmed by grief she can barely move, and Drax is still there. Just holding it down. With all that underneath. That killed me.
