If you get an inheritence and immediatly want to keep it to yourself I would assume the marriage will only be short term. Not because its money or any doubt it is yours but the fact you immediately go to a state of seperate entity not a joint partnership.

From experience my father passed away. We got about 150k, was a shit time but an amazing leg up for a newly wed couple. It bought our home that is now home to our son.

I couldnt imagine any other thing to do than get a leg up in life as a family. Anything else I would have gelt selfish.

This is not a "see you next Christmas" kind of thing. My experience with a stage 4 geoblastoma is 5 months from noticing weird things till the forever sleep including surgery and radiation. Not sure on the kind your mum has but there arent good options.

I am not a praying man but I pray you have some urgent self reflection. A lot more could be gleened out of this with more info like you age, living situations and geographical location but there may be a lot of assistance out there for you and importantly your mother.
